Curly - I have no idea what a Zumba class is....but if it's a good work out - then it is probably something that is worth taking!

Ever have those mornings when you are getting ready to step on the scale and your feeling a bit 'puffy' and think ...ugh..this is going to be a painful experience?? :( That happend to me this morning - - and I'm down HELLO!! 3 LBS!!!
Zumba is a blast...it's Latin Dance mixed with aerobics. My abs and legs were SO sore!

I lost 3 lbs, too! I got on the scale this morning, and I guess my changes this week have paid off!
2. I don't know yet...I'll see Thursday! I went to a Zumba class tonight for the first time, and it totally kicked my butt :D I've had no alcohol in a week. I'm trying to get myself back off the caffeine. I'm hoping it helps.

I promise to bring back some cool pics! I tend to not take too many on vacation...it's too much like work :D, but I'll def take some!
3. Hey everyone!

Well, I've been stalled the last two weeks...no loss, which is annoying. So, starting today I'm ramping up my exercise to see if I can get the scale on the downward move again.

I was getting a little bored with what I was eating (and finding myself eating things i shouldn't), so I'm trying to mix it up a little. I got some high quality beef jerky - it's made by a local place from good quality steak and has spicy seasoning. It's making for a nice snack. I also made my own pimento cheese to put on celery.

20 days to go until we leave on our cruise. I would love to drop 5 lbs between now and then...here's hoping the scale starts to move!

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Heather
4. Hey everyone!

So, I'm having a good time finding some things for our cruise in a smaller size. I'm trying not to spend too much, because I'm really hoping I won't be able to wear any of this stuff again. But, I REALLY wanted a new formal dress for this cruise. This is our first spring/summer cruise (we've always gone in either October or February), so all of my formal wear has long sleeves, or it just doesn't fit.

So, yesterday I went in Macy's to look for some sandals, and lo and behold there is a clearance rack with formal wear. So, I see a dress I like in the size I think I'll need. I try it on, and it was HUGE. Yay! I went back and found the same dress in a smaller size, and it looked awesome. I go and check out, and being the coupon junkie I am, I had an extra 20% off coupon. The dress ended up being - you ready for this? - EIGHT DOLLARS! Hahaha. I actually started laughing at the check out counter.

5. I'm going on the western cruise next week and promise to bring home all the current compasses and scan them. Not sure where I'll be able to put them (website) but be sure I will find a way. I have had no luck finding anyone to post current ones. The only ones I have found are a year old.

Thanks BobKat, that will be fantastic!!

6. I just realized that the cruise we're booked on is the first Western itinerary for Freedom out of Port Canaveral. Cool!

If anyone has new compasses from the Western itinerary, I would love to see them! The last one I could find anywhere was over a year old.

Does anyone know if Clo will still be the CD after the PC move?

Curly - I have enrolled in a photography class and loving it so far. I got myself a nice new camera and wanted to learn it so I can take some awesome pictures.

So far, so good. Except those darn aperture and shutter speed dials. Seems like I move them and it never looks different. I want a fuzzy background, but can't seem to get there. Doesn't help that the numbers are opposite of what you would think. EX: larger is actually small. LOL

Awesome! What kind of camera did you get? Once you get used to the aperture and shutter speed and ISO changes, it becomes second nature. I can pretty much look at a scene and know exactly what all of my settings need to be without even using the meter.

The fuzzy background (shallow depth of field -where you have a narrow plane that is actually in focus) is much easier when you have lenses that can go down to a 1.2 or 2.8 aperture. The lower the aperture the more narrow your depth of field is. Most kit lenses that come with cameras don't have that kind of aperture range. Also, even if your aperture is wide open (at the lowest aperture possible), if you are a long distance away from your subject, you will still end up with a larger depth of field. There are all kinds of fun mathematical reasons why :D

I'm happy to help if you have any questions!

Curly - I checked out your website......B E A U T I F U L!! :) Love it! Have done a couple of small weddings...... what work!! Whew!! But what satisfaction when they love the pictures! And...your doing really good on your weight loss! Good Job!

Thanks Cruzzin! It's been a labor of love for sure! But, I thrive on the energy of a wedding day, and there's nothing better than making someone cry when they see their pictures for the first time (in a good way, of course!).

So, I'm at that 2 days back on induction point when I'm headachey and hungry all the time. Hate it, but I know I've gotta do it. Hanging in there!!

9. Thanks for the welcome Donna!

I would love to see the recipe for the breakfast shake - is it in this thread somewhere? I'm always looking for new ideas!

I'll have to type out a couple of the recipes I've come up with that are Atkins friendly for you guys. I have a great guilt-free dessert trifle recipe. It's not completely carb-free, but it's great to make for parties so there is something sweet that you can eat without getting into the really bad stuff. Here's the info on it:

1 sugar free angel food cake

1 can of no-sugar added pie filling (I like strawberry or cherry for this)

1 tub of sugar free cool-whip or 1-2 cans of redi-whip.

1 box of sugar free vanilla pudding (and the milk to mix with it)

Cut the angel food cake into chunks, and start layering each item..I prefer cake-pudding-pie filling-cool whip with the cool whip ending up as the top layer when you get done.

I always take this when we have family dinners so I can avoid grandma's caramel cake and my MIL's blueberry delight LOL.

10. Thanks for the welcome!

Tripster - congrats on the smaller clothes! I've been spring cleaning this week and discovered a bunch of clothes from 2-3 years ago that I can wear again, and a whole pile of stuff I'll be able to wear after I lose another 10-15 lbs. It's like a new wardrobe! I'll have to try out that rub recipe..sounds yummy!

Sports-mom, sure! You can see our website at http://www.khmasonphotography.com and our blog at http://www.khmasonphotography.net

My parents started a photography business before I was born, so I've grown up with a camera in hand. It's a fun way to make a living, but a lot of work if you're going to do it right!

So, my fabulous honey fixed dinner. Tuna steaks, grilled asparagus, and steamed broccoli. YUM!

11. Hey everyone! Can I join the group? I just saw this thread!

To intro myself - my name is Heather, but most everyone on the board calls me Curly. I'm 29 years old, married, no kids, 2 cats LOL. I'm a professional photographer (weddings mostly, but some kids and families portraits as well).

I've been on Atkins since November and have lost 40 lbs. I've kinda slipped a bit in the past couple of weeks and stopped losing, so I know I've gotta get back on plan. I'm cruising in about 6 weeks (May 10th on Freedom), and I'd really like to lose another 15 lbs or so before we go.

So, I'm putting myself back on induction this week. I've been having a few too many drinkies and eating some carbs that I don't need, so that's gotta go. I still have about 60 more lbs to lose!
