  1. The 4 year old should definitely still be in a car seat for safety. You should bring their seats on the plane, especially for the 2 year old. You won’t know if rented/borrowed seats will be the right size, clean, expired, ever been in a wreck, etc. best to bring their own seats that they are familiar with and you know the history of. If their seats are too big for travel, their are good travel options out there. I believe the Cosco Scenera Next is the one frequently recommended for younger children as an inexpensive lighter weight seat for travel (under $40). Depending on the 4 year olds size they might be able to get away with the bubble bum inflatable booster seat for $30. My son turns 5 the week after we cruise and he is huge-nearly 70 lbs and almost 4 feet tall. He’s normally harnessed and we’re driving to port with his harnessed seat but for port we bought the bubble bum

  2. I love my Lug Travel Via but it’s pretty big so they also have a regular Via which is a more manageable size. I buy on QVC for cheaper prices, especially when they have sales. It has hand straps, shoulder straps (cross body or regular shoulder carry) and backpack straps that can be tucked away. RFID pocket, small cooler pocket, shoe pocket, great pocket for your phone, pocket grist for tablets, papers, or small computers. It also has a luggage strap to connect to your luggage should you use it while traveling in the future when you’re not on crutches. I am using it on my cruise next week because of the great versatility. QVC usually has great infomercials to explain the bags.

Another thing I thought I wouldn’t like but ended up being a big plus, the padding on the straps is only on the top section and not throughout the whole length of the strap. I was afraid that would be uncomfortable. Turns out it is super comfortable, padded on my shoulder and then narrow for under my armpit, especially useful since I am large chested. Regular straps are thick and bulky and dig into my chest and arms.

  3. I had to google "puddle jumper"...but it looks like they're inflatable/deflatable.....aren't they? If so, I can't imagine it would take much to blow them up once your get to the beach....

    They are not inflatable

  4. I’m feeling a little guilty since we sail in a week and a half with a grumpy family member who I assured he’d have 24/7 access to free room service. He’s very food focused and this will cause us all to experience backlash.

  5. My tablet isn’t getting along with Carnival’s FAQs, would anyone be willing to share how to contact the special needs department? I am way overdue contacting them.

Is there anything they might be able to help with that I am unaware of? My son is turns 5 the week after we get back and he’s autistic. I’ve heard there is a waiting area in Galveston for people with disabilities that I want to ask about. Not to cut the lines, but possibly a less chaotic area to wait our turn and my MIL might also need wheelchair assistance. I want to ask about the muster drill because the old days of standing out on the deck like sardines won’t work for him, sitting inside would-I’m not looking to skip it. I also want to make sure only our family is together at dinner so we don’t disrupt strangers and prefer an area of the dining room that isn’t so in the open. A corner or face him towards a wall or something to cut the visual noise. I heard there was a form I could fill out ahead of time to prepare the kids staff of his needs so I wanted to ask about that. Is there anything else they can do to help ease this trip for him, us, and the staff?

  6. try this and save yourself $12, every device has USB chargers

One negative about those kinds is if you have any bulky chargers then you can only use every other outlet which leaves you with only 3 or maybe 4 outlets. It’s also bulkier. The one we ordered you’ll be able to use 3 separate bulky plugs plus the 3 USB ports, eliminating the need to pack the bulky wall chargers. The compact size is great for traveling, my husband plans to keep it in his daily work bag after the trip. There’s another one that offers surge protection and a mounting bracket and we like the design so much that we think we’ll end up buying that one for our house.

Parents of small children are the worst because so many believe its outrageous to charge kids so much per day because they are just kids.

This is infuriating. Money can be tight for us but we’re the first to admit that our son creates a bigger mess than us. I hate when I read people trying to stiff the staff because kids are small. Dirty diapers, food on the floor, having to be more mindful of naps/early bedtimes, extra splashing in the bathroom, and just how obnoxious and annoying kids can be in general. Stiffing the staff of kids’ tips and thinking going on vacation means your kid suddenly doesn’t need a car seat are two of my biggest pet peeves.

  8. She won’t get a refund other than maybe port fees so you won’t be charged more for your cruise. I don’t know how to answer the rest of your post. Have you tried calling the state’s birth certificate office directly for overnighting a birth certificate? I found out it was cheaper and faster to call my state directly than go through vital statistics online. What about expediting a renewed passport by going to a passport office? I don’t think they’ll let her board.

In 2008 my dummy husband left his at home but we had a friend break into our house and she emailed a copy and then mailed it to our hotel room. We went to a copy shop and printed the emailed copy. We were able to get on the cruise with the copy and our plan was for me to go to the hotel and retrieve the real birth certificate to get him out of customs after the cruise. Thankfully the customs agent saw my husband’s military ID and talked military with him and hardly glanced and our printed copy and let him through anyways. We got lucky and we had a copy with a back up plan. We also had talked to the port to know we’d be able to get on the ship with this plan and this was 10 years ago. I hope everything works out.

  9. Mikadobelize.com is the biggest fabric store in Belize City. This is a horrible website and does not begin to show the rows and rows and rows of fabric. It is on Albert Street and the website does give address and phone number.

Thank you so much! I will pass that along.

  10. Does renewal require you to send in your birth certificate again? Does it require you to send in your old one now? You might try to send off for it now as long as you don’t need to send it your birth certificate which you’ll need as back up for the cruise in case it doesn’t arrive in time. Don’t worry about expediting it because your birth certificate is your back up plan. I applied for a first time passport for me and my child, standard processing, standard shipping and they arrived in my mailbox 13 days later. This was in October/November.

  11. This question may be better asked on the Trip Advisor Roatan Board. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g292019-i4482-Roatan_Bay_Islands.html

or better yet, sort out a private local driver with one of the tour companies, maybe he has an auntie who sews.

I didn’t know about the trip advisor board, thanks for that link. They have booked with Rony’s tours so I figured they could ask their driver but she wanted me to do some background asking too. From my research, I don’t think she’s going to find what she wants in any of our ports but I’m hoping someone else has found a hidden gem.

  12. My inlaws are getting a private driver with Victor Bodden or Rony’s tours in Roatan and want to know if there is a similar affordable and reliable option for Belize?
