  1. Both Carnival and Holland America in the past few years have been using a computer algorithm to set cabin pricing - supply and demand. As a result, for at least 3 years all cruises we've booked have gone up in price from what we paid booking 6-9 months out.

I hear folks say they see some price drops but we have not.

We were lucky. We have a cruise booked for April. Last week I upgraded to a better category on a higher level and saved a few dollars. Later in the week I got a price drop of $52pp.

  2. Carnival Liberty has three and four days out of Canaveral. Even though you love close by, to me a three day is not an option. You actually only have two full days on the ship. A four day short cruise works for me sometimes, but many won't consider it.

Personally, I would book an Early Saver as soon as you decide on which cruise. Then you will be able to check price drops/sales and get price adjustments. Booking early, you should be able to secure porthole cabins for interior prices.

I love Liberty, my current favorite ship.

  3. Just got off the Valor as well, the 8/14-8/19 sailing. Loved our aft wrap # 6452, except for the guest next door blasting rap music and smoking weed. Adult pool was awesome. Regular lido pool was packed with kids, loud people and tons of babies. Sail away party was geared to some other age group/demographic than I am in. Steakhouse fantastic. MDR good ( we had YTD, but same waiter each time, Acer). Guys delicious. Cheers a good value. Casino....paid for the trip and more. I won a bunch, and I do mean a bunch, on the Asian babies slot machine. Ask the hosts, I was the screaming blonde lady on Weds night!

Adult pool? Valor has an adult pool? WooHoo!

  4. I totally understand. Of course it's just circumstantial that Carnival is making the change right now, but you booked with certain understandings, and now it's changed.

That happened to me once. I booked a cruise with the understanding (from Carnival) that xxxx was SCHEDULED to be the piano bar player, xxxx was SCHEDULED to be the maitre'd , xxxx was SCHEDULED to be the CD, all of whom I was very excited about.

Like with you, before our sailing the maitre'd and CD were both changed. It's not a deal breaker, and not going to prevent a fun time but yes it's frustrating. Funny thing though, the replacement CD ended up being my very favorite to date. :) Good luck and have fun.

My brother and his fiance met us in Athens and booked an inside cabin on Deck 10. They were in 10-295, and found it to be extremely noisy! Granted, they booked two days prior to sailing and were given a "guarantee" room. So they were at the mercy of the cruiseline...

    !

Do you know where the noise was from? My daughter and SIL had that room on Breeze and didn't find it noisy.
