  1. Hi everyone!

Only 16 more days till we sail and my DD19 said she hasnt renewed her drivers license ( shes been away at school with no car...)

Anyway, in Wisconsin they give you and offical piece of paper with picture until the permanent card comes in the mail. I know we accept it as an offical form of identification here at the bank where I work Im hoping carnival does too!

Has anyone had any expeirence with this??:eek::confused:

Yes. That's what one gets in GA until the official hard plastic one comes in the mail. Carnival took mine, no problem.

  2. Glad you like her as we board Fascination on Saturday. I do have some questions, if you don't mind answering.

    1. Is the port easily accessible from I-95? And is it user friendly as far as dropping luggage off and parking. We thought Cape Canaveral was pretty easy compared to Charleston which is a nightmare.

    2. Has Fascination been upgraded to 2.0, does she have the Guy Burgers, Ble Iguana, etc.?

    3. We usually try to find one bar that we like with a cool bartender. Any suggestions?

    Your time will be appreciated.

    1. The most user friendly port I've been to. Parking is a breeze then you walk right in.

    2. Sadly, no

    3. TOMMY in the bar right outside the comedy theatre. He is fun.

  3. Our room was a Grand Suite, U98. We decided to splurge because it was our daughter's Platinum cruise and we had never been in a suite before. The room was HUGE and we had more than enough room for our belongings. The one thing that my husband and I didn't like was the shower/bathtub combination. He is 6' 3" and I am 5' 9" and both of us had to lean over in the tub to rinse our hair when showering. There was also a huge step getting in and out of the tub to take a shower. It was a small thing, but was not comfortable for us when trying to shower and wash our hair. Our daughter LOVED the tub and especially the Jacuzzi jets. She took a bath every night!

Our closet had loads of room and there were enough drawers for everything we had brought. We also had a larger than normal balcony and had many good conversations with our neighbors on both sides while watching the ship sail away from the various ports.

We've had the same room on Fascination. Huge step getting in and out of the tub is an understatement even. Almost impossible, and dangerous for shorter, older people.

We also LOVED the huge balcony.

  4. Random thoughts from Day 1.

We found the sound level in the atrium to be a bit loud in the evenings, with the music from the piano bar and the guitar player in the atrium on the Empress deck. Both sounded fine, it was just... loud. In addition, one of the glass elevators in the atrium was out of service the entire cruise.

As it was the previous cruise. I wonder if they plan to fix it.

  5. OK on Breeze these are all wheelchair modified .. Im looking them up.

Here are the first two.. On Magic all 4 are HC. yep on Breeze all are modified cabins for wheelchairs.. so you might be moved.. if they allow you to book them. (I hope you change your mind and dont book one)

I just had 1212 .. a 1A with port holes.. two beds on the floor.. there are some really nice 1As on these ships.

Firefly was this on Dream or Breeze? Were your two beds both real beds or was one a sofa?

I had been told 1212 on Breeze does not have two real beds so just trying to find out. Thanks!

  6. Same as last year on the Fantasy, I smuggled a flask size bottle of both rum and vodka in 2 separate pieces of luggage. Both times the rum was taken but the vodka made it through. My theory is that both times that bottle had a metal cap vs. the vodka that had a plastic cap.

Yep that's my theory exactly. NO metal gets put in my checked luggage.

  7.

Put life in perspective....free drinks' date=' being first in line, how many loads of laundry you get for free, whether your card is the "right" color and you have to wait in line with those with a less-valuable color, whether or not the tips are fair....NONE of this matters when you are faced with and charged with helping the people you love make a positive difference in this world. Yes, it sucks that there used to be more than one free drinking opportunity and now there are not plus now your free drinks are at an inconvenient time, and it sucks that Carnival doesn't pay the good people who make our trip memorable nearly enough, and it sucks that Carnival is letting people buy their way into YOUR just desserts when you have EARNED it by being so wealthy as to cruise 10 or more times, and, heck, it really sucks that your food isn't awesome every. single. time., and it sucks that sometimes people break in line or act rude or fail to "control their bratty kids".....but really? If these are your complaints, you are soooooooo lucky compared to the VAST majority of the world (and even to your neighbors!).

    Very well said. Thank you!

  8. Hope I didn't offend' date=' Javamom! I'm happy for you on your upgrade, just as I was thrilled to upgrade on ours...a little jealous, though! Wish I could go in your place! ;) Have a great time, and enjoy that balcony! (I think that's where we went wrong.....just didn't spend enough time out there!)[/quote']

No, not at all and I'm sorry if it came off that way. DD and DSIL have had a regular balcony a couple times. Knees right up against the railing. Any extra room is worth it to me. We will sit out there a lot. :)

  9. Thank you for the compliment!! Yeah' date=' that whole "extended balcony" thing...while true, it is a misleading misnomer (wait...I think that is redundant!). It is the same width and maybe a foot deeper? Best I can tell from comparing with the normal sized balconies I have had before, the regular size ones would end where that last little section of divider is (there would be no second section in the picture below). So, there isn't much extension to it, IMHO. I only took the upgrade because, at the time, the prices were lower than I had paid for the regular balcony room and I wanted the early saver price reduction. I didn't really care about the extended balcony.

We just upgraded for our upcoming Legend cruise and I think that extra extension makes a lot of difference. Just another opinion. :-)
