  1. So the drink package starts the moment you board (except in NY). You have until 6am the following day to drink your 15. Although I've found you don't actually lose that time since you can also get free Cheers! drinks the day you disembark at breakfast, coffee bar, etc until you get off the ship.

For 8 days, to get your money's worth, you need to drink about 6 alcoholic drinks a day. However, with Cheers ALL drinks are included so bottles of water, coconut water, coffee, etc is also included and can easily pad-your non-heavy drinking days to make your moneys worth. I don't think you'll have any problem.

At a bare-minimum, if you were to ONLY drink alcohol, you'd need to have 48 (8 days x 6/day) drinks over the course of 8 days to make it worthwhile. I know for me, the first and second day I tend to at least hit 10...also sea days are super-easy to hit a decent amount.

So, in short...you'll be fine! Good luck!

  2. I was also less than impressed with the $20 all you can drink which was sketchy vodka served out of water bottles. At Junkanoo it seems they have a variety of different drinks which is what I would be looking for!

    It's $20....

  3. Cruised on the Sunshine 4x and will be heading to NY next week to cruise on her to Boston, Portland, Halifax, and Saint John. Yes she has some quirks from the remodeling but all in all it is a great ship. It takes a bit to learn the deck flows but once you have that down you'll be set. You have a great itinerary and will have a blast.

    Cheers and happy cruising.

    Me too...Sept 2...from St Pete!

  4. I made a point of going to the IMAX on the Vista's maiden voyage cause "why not?" We saw Batman vs Superman...and while the movie was just meh, I thought the image and sound quality was AMAZING considering it was on a ship. The concession stand was on-point with the options...we actually brought in drinks from another bar though. The pricing was fine as it was a first-run movie...in the middle of the Mediterranean lol.

While on topic, the Thrill theater was hit and miss. The stand-out was the horror-themed one. Although, I would say for its relatively short run-time, it was over-priced.

  5. It sounds like Carnival is refunding the cost of the transfers so that isn't an option. Are you suggesting they try and stiff the taxi company that took them to the port?

Oops! No. Of course not. I'm saying, do a chargeback on the Carnival transfer charge for the $107 taxi ride. Typically in a chargeback you can specify the amount. Also, you can give a description why...like "I purchased a transfer to Houston which wasn't provided and had to come out of pocket $107 for a taxi ride"

  6. This is really easy. If you paid for it with a credit card, do a chargeback. Have your credit card company work for you and do all the work.

I do what you do and always give the company who f'd up a chance to right their wrong. If they don't, they had their chance and I escalate it to my credit card company and don't lose another second thinking about it.

  7. Whenever they've called me to upgrade (about 3 times over 20ish cruises), they'll offer me something and I'll ask if something better is available. Doesn't hurt to ask...but one time I was offered and ocean view (from interior) and asked for something better and got a balcony for maybe $50 or more than what I would have had to pay for OV upgrade. Win!

Also, another time I was able to not only upgrade my room to a balcony, but also my parents' room.

Personally, I'm a balcony or bust person. The difference between interior and OV, to me, is not worth it, unless free. And even then I may not take it.

  8. I want to relax, maybe read a bit, snooze have a few cocktails. Just one area on the ship we can relax, have adult conversation.

You don't need to be IN the pool to do any of those things. I think much of the uproar about this is misrepresented as kids were ALWAYS allowed in the area of these pools, especially since thats where the ice cream, pizza, and sometimes burger/chicken finger area is. The kids are now simply allowed IN the pool.

I totally support the movement for them NOT to be in these pools and hot tubs, but a lot of these complaints I've been reading are listing activities that have nothing to do with things IN the pool. I apologize for pointing out the poster above, I was simply giving an example.

  9. I don't know if this helps, not sure when you set sail but I got my passport in 15 days without paying for it to be expedited.

Make sure your birth certificate is certified and you will be fine assuming you are leaving from a US port and returning to the same port. Happy Sailing!!!

it doesn't need to be certified...even a photocopy of your birth certificate is ok. Just used a photocopy on March 2, 2017.

"A clear, legible copy of a birth certificate that was originally issued by a government agency (state/county/city) or the Department of Health and Vital Statistics. The copy does not need to be notarized or certified. "
