  1. I just got off the Carnival Liberty (3/2/17) and was informed (quite sadly) that Makers Mark is no longer carried as of around December 2016 :(

That and Coke Zero were my go-to drink on Cheers... Now they have Buffalo Trace and something else to replace it.

This is a sad sad day. I will move on - but wanted others to prepare for this! :)

  2. Yea, it looks like they're current discounted shore excursions promotion was just for the first 48 hrs after u booked. Fortunately, I was able to round-up my fam and decide on what we wanted to do 7 months from now in 48 hrs, but personally I think thats tough to do w needing money up front after JUST paying the deposit.

  3. it does not appear you know how Uber works. There is no booking anything in advance. Do you have an Uber account? you will need a credit card attached to the account, cash is not allowed. To use Uber, you need to download the app so the hotel's wifi is useless to you. When you order the Uber when you are ready to leave the hotel, the car usually arrives in less than 5 minutes. There is fare estimator on the app. Your credit card will be charged the minute you exit the vehicle. Hope this helps

coeven, you are wrong. You can book in advance. I've used it many times. FYI, you can also book Lyft in advance as well.

drakes2, You can book advance while you're on wifi and supposedly see where they are while you're on property assuming they have full-coverage wifi at your hotel (i'd assume if they have it in rooms, u can get it in the lobby, but definitely call and confirm). With your advanced booking, you'll be notified who your driver is going to be pretty much as soon as the beginning of the timeframe you specified rolls around.

As for seeing how much you were charged once dropped off? Simply ask the driver. Also, Uber no longer allows you to tip within the app, so if you intend to, please bring cash. Lyft DOES allow you to tip in app..and you can add it pretty much whenever after your ride.

  4. He is a friendly unique type guy. Spent a little time with him at the naming ceremony in New York and he sure does love his job.

That's great. I couldn't remember his name until you mentioned it but Colin is great and agreed that he's almost too excited about his job. He was on the maiden voyage and shared that he was actually on the ship earlier to make sure everything was set up correctly and that they had a few batches of beer that would be ready for the maiden voyage. The tour is sooo worth it and I'm glad to hear he's still involved.

That link doesn't work cause its encrypted already, but I think you meant this link?

Spirit of the Season – ‘Tis the Season

Put on your most festive ugly sweater, warm up those vocal chords and gather around to help us welcome the very jolly Santa Claus himself!

Hosted by the Cruise Director and together with the children from Camp Carnival and Camp Ocean, we celebrate the spirit of the holiday season as we combine holiday magic with a little Carnival fun! Guests of all ages are encouraged to bring their ugliest Christmas sweater for this fun competition. And then it’s time to shake your bells and make cheerful noise to welcome in Santa Claus as he makes his way down the glass atrium elevator.

On the Carnival Legend and Carnival Spirit, there will be a crazy, festive holiday hat competion instead of the ugly sweater contest.

FWIW I will be w a group of 17 on the Dec 1 Paradise cruise and among us, we decided to do an Ugly Xmas Sweater Night, Xmas PJ Night, and Xmas headwear night (antlers, hats, etc)

  6. I did it on the inaugural cruise :)

It was well worth it for the free beer alone! Plus, the brewmaster is very knowledgeable and had answers to every single question (even off-the-wall ones).

The one thing I did notice is that the tours fill up super quick and they only do them a few times during the cruise so sign up as early as possible.

At the end, you also got a certificate with your name on it saying you did the brew tour...nice touch...I'll try to remember to scan it in later to post here.

  7. From what I remember when I experienced it on the Vista, there was enough space on either side of the seats and in front of the screen for a wheelchair to maneuver in. Also the turnstyle was removable, so I don't think that would be an issue.

This is the best I could find:

  8. This gets asked all the time and as far as I know, no one has been able to get the $49 price on board using a gift card. I'm sailing in 2 weeks and already have my gift cards for cheers ready to go. I'll ask when I buy cheers but I already know the answer...

That's ok, I'm gonna drink enough to make up for the $5 / day difference instead!

@FaithfulRaider (or anyone) How'd it go? Were you able to get the pre-cruise price onboard when purchasing Cheers with a gift card?

  9. Does anyone know if the Quest, an adult game, is played on the Splendor out of Miami? I'm thinking it depends on the CD on the ship. And then again also depends on the stuffed shirts, I mean beards, in management as to what entertainment happens on each ship. It's an adult scavenger hunt which, after a day of drinking, is way too funny! Thanks in advance!!

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I too love this game. As I understand it, it is only offered on cruises on 5 or more days. HOWEVER we were on the Victory Early December 2015 (Which was 5 days) and it was NOT available. I asked the Entertainment Director what happened when I ran in to her on the Promenade and was brushed off with something along the lines of "there wasn't enough staff to run it." Which is fair...I guess...but it's usually a late night game (10pm or so) and I didn't like her curt and dismissive answer. I had a large group with me and I SO looked forward to playing with them.

So in short, who knows. My mileage was not good on this.

  10. Anyone off Sunshine and can tell me when the best nights would be to go to Cucina and the Steakhouse? We are torn between doing one of them or both of them.

We will be sailing during Thanksgiving week. Any recent menus, etc would be very helpful!

If you're torn between two, go to the steakhouse. Hands down.

If you want to do both, do the steakhouse twice :)

Cucina is good (and cheaper) but in my opinion, wasn't worth the extra money; it's nothing THAT special.

  11. This is the 3rd year a group of friends (beginning to mid 30's) will be going on a cruise in early December. Each year we do theme nights...and I'm looking for some new ideas. Since it's early December, I try to lean to xmas themed stuff but I'm not opposed to other fun ideas. Mainly to wear on the ship during dinner (except dressy nights) and at the club.

    Ones we've done so far:

    Santa Hat Night

    Ugly Xmas Sweater

    Xmas PJ's

  12. We have some friends who live near Amber Cove and we would like to meet up with them when our ship stops there. Are outsiders (not cruisers) allowed to come into the restaurant/shop area of Amber Cove, or is there a security gate that you must show a cruise card to enter from the outside?

    Thanks!

When we came back from a tour at Amber Cove, there is a security gate and we had to show our Sail & Sign badges. Sadly, from what I remember, there wasn't much developed around this port to meet at outside the gate.

Maybe other have differing info, but that's what I remember seeing. This was back in December '15.

  13. We booked the cruise as well There are VIP tickets but they are sold out. We are upset because they were advertising the concert still after sell out.

    Very disappointed.

I was able to get two GA tix by checking the shore excursion site every 12 hrs or so.

I was able to grab 1 ticket last week and the 2nd ticket this morning.

As of now, there is still at least one ticket available as it's showing "Limited Availability vs Sold Out"

Keep checking! There's hope and I'm the proof! lol

...now I'm just looking for VIP tix!

  14. I organize a group cruise of friends every year for my friends and print out a small laminated card for all of them with meetup points (if you're bored and wanna try to find the group) and dinner on there..also where everything is and of course we do dress-up nights every night(we go in december)...on the opposite side i put everyone's cabin/phone and location.
