I am really curious to see what happens with this storm. We are doing a 3 day cruise on Liberty tomorrow. Not worried at all about tomorrow, but will be interesting to see if we still go to Nassau on Saturday and if we still get back to Port Canaveral on Monday morning.

I am twiddling my thumbs waiting for word from Carnival.  I am supposed to do this 3 day and then get on Elation for a 5 day.  Elation passangers today were handed a note before they boarded  saying they may not be able  to dock on Monday.   What do you think this means for our 3 day?  Will we go?  Will they cancel?

What ship(s) allowed you to get drinks at the casino bar when you weren’t gambling?  I was on Victory earlier this month and Breeze last month and on several occasions heard bartenders at the casino bar on both ships tell guests they couldn’t used the Drinks On Us card at the bar.

I asked the same thing. lol

WELL, not to confuse the issue, but we almost always have drinks on us card and I use it instead of buying cheers because for me its no big deal to swing into casino and grab 2 drinks from the bar and go on our merry way, if the bar is too busy I tip a waiter/waitress and presto I have my drinks! THEN, if we are in the comedy club or elsewhere and I don't feel like going to casino, I just use S&S card, I have done this many cruises and come out way cheaper than buying cheers package! Whatever you decide it will be right for you and you will have fun!!!!

So you were able to use it at the bar at the Casino?   What ship? I was pretty sure you had to be actively gambling and have the waitstaff bring it to you!   Cruising next week with DOU and the person I am cruising with doesn't want Cheers.  So I am going to be left with a hefty bar tab because I don't spend much time in Casino.

When we ordered pizza on Liberty, it definitely didn’t come from the pizzeria located by the aft pool on deck 9. There were several of us who ordered/ate pizza and everyone agreed it was not the same pizza as the pizzeria, which we had gotten the day before on embarkation day. We are going on Liberty again in less than two weeks. I plan to find out where they make the pizza for delivery.

When are you going on the Liberty?  I am on the August 30th sailing.

  5. On my upcoming 3 and 5 night cruises I have 100 obc  for each cruise so we are not purchasing cheers.  I have bought 2 cases of water for the 5 night and 1 case for the 3 night and a bottle of vodka and some mixers to be delivered to our room for the trip.   My mom who I am traveling with isn't a big drinker and we have dou in the casino so it doesn't make sense to get cheers.   I will keep track even with the drinks in the casino to see if I would have broke even or not.

  6. I am thankful my team is playing a cupcake team on 8/31.   LOL.  Last  year they didn't show my team either.    I did cruise this same weekend last year and they had some games on but that was before they changed the tv line up.   I

  7. I've done balcony, ov, suite and inside and you know what while I prefer the balcony the others are just fine too.   Did my first inside last AUgust on the Liberty and it was just fine. Great for sleeping.     As for Cheers.  On my next cruise my mother doesnt want to get it as she has DOU and spends most of her time in the Casino.  I am going to go broke buying drinks.  I love my bottled water, powerades, and my chocolate martinis at dinner and umbrella drinks on the deck so its gonna be a wash for me later this month.   If you can afford cheers its worth it to not have to worry about the bill.

I'd call Carnival and ask----if not, bring the extra wine anyway, it would be confiscated and held for you till you disembark. We're doing a (side to back?) in January. We get off the Panorama, walk to the next "dock" and board the Queen Mary (now a hotel), stay overnight, next morning we'll walk back to the Carnival dock and board the Imagination!

This sounds like an awesome trip.

We did this at Port Canaveral.  Tell Carnival what you're doing before you leave and confirm it with guest services after you board.  Along with another couple we personally escorted off the ship, after all of the passengers, and walked over to the other ship where we were among the first to board.  I would skip the ride to save a few bucks on the wine and enjoy the VIP treatment to its fullest.

What did you do with your luggage??

  10. I for one am very thankful for the infirmary.  Last cruise my daughter got very ill with a high 103 fever and was delirious.  We went down for a rapid strep test and they did a flu test. They gave her some tylonel and once her fever came down we were on our way.    Both tests were negative and her tonsils were inflamed.  Her prescribed her an antibiotic anyway and sent us on our way.  They didnt confine us to our cabin.  I did think they stuck the flu swab way up into her head and that alarmed me.   But 180 $ later and  we were on our way.   I am sure the docs there cant be that bad after all they treat the crew and sick passengers all the time.  And in our case my daughters mystery illness was a 24 hour bug and she was feeling better the next day after a full day of sleep.

  11. Hi.  My mom and I are doing a side to side cruise later this month.   Our plan is to leisurely get off the Liberty and then give our luggage to the porters for the elation.  I have looked and they will be moored (docked not sure the proper term) really close to each other at adjacent terminals.  What is the latest you have gotten off the ship?  My mom needs wheel chair assistance if that makes any difference.     My next question is what is the earliest you can give your luggage to the porters for the next cruise with out fear of it getting misplaced?   My next question is about wine.  Is it possible to take wine for both cruises when I board the first cruise if I can show my boarding pass for the second cruise.  These  particular cruises are out of Canaveral?  I have heard conflicting answers to this question.  I am hoping to not have to take an uber to the Pub lix to get wine before we board the Elation.

  12. Here are my Liberty Tips for first timers.   --> At the end of this month it will be my 4th time on the Liberty.

Ok here are some tips for first time cruisers here I thought I would start a post with some tips and tricks and packing help. Feel free to add to this post if you have more tips and tricks.
    1. Pack a sweater or hoddie or jacket because areas of the ship can be chilly especially dining areas and theaters.
    2. IF there are a lot of people in your cabin I find the collapsible storage bins particularly helpful in keeping peoples belongings separated. I take one for each person and they can put their items in it. https://www.amazon.com/DII-Foldable-Container…/…/ref=sr_1_8…
    3. A lot of people find the over the door shoe organizer helpful in keeping things like toiletries, sunscreen, jewelery and other items at bay. Remember the cabins are really small. Especially if you have an interior. I sometimes take one of these and hang it over the bathroom door.https://www.amazon.com/24-Pockets-Si…/…/ref=sr_1_8_acs_ac_1…
    4. I have a cruise travel go pack. It containers typical over the counter medicines and items you may need during the course of a cruise. Typically on vacation one need not worry because Walmart is always right around the corner. In mine I have Tylenol, night time sleep meds, Neosporin, tums, dramimine, bandaids, Imodium, allergy meds and any other over the counter stuff I feel I may need. This stuff is insanely expensive on the cruise.
    5. Power – there is only 1 plug in the cabin. I typically take a power strip. Note it can not have a surge protector or they may confiscate it. Also I was on Liberty in September and they had chargers for phones, camera tablets etc in the lamps in my cabin. This may not be in all cabins yet.
    6. Clocks – there is no clock in your room. If you want one other than your phone alarm bring it.
    7. Sunscreen take more than you think you may ever need. Also don’t forget the aloe if you have a tendency to burn.
    8. Cheers package – a couple tips and tricks to getting the most out of it.
    a. Get a water each time you order a drink if you are a big water drinker. Even if you don’t drink it then you can put it in the fridge in your cabin
    b. For shore excursions I tend to get a couple powerades from the coffee bar on the back of the lido restaurant area and take them off the ship with me. It is ok to take drinks off the ship but remember don’t take any fruit off or you could be fined.
    c. Don’t forget the milkshakes and specialty coffees on deck 5 by the night club. These are included with the cheers package and if you are on the fence to get it or not this may be a difference maker.
    d. Tip your bartenders extra. They will remember you and hook you up typically with quicker service next time they see you at their bar.
    9. Do you have hats and things you want to get out of the way. Command hooks are a great way to hang hats on the wall.https://www.amazon.com/Command-Hooks-Medium-7…/…/ref=sr_1_9…
    10. Also If memory serves me correctly the walls on Liberty are magnetic and you can use hook magnets to hang things on as well.
    11. If you go up the stairs in the Lido Restaurant another option for food that is free of charge is The Ole Barbeque. It has some really good options for brisket and mac and cheese and stuff. I have never seen a long line for it.
    12. Download the carnival hub app before you go. You can use it for free to see the fun times. You can even favorite activities you want to go to and it will notify you when they are about to start. If you wish to chat with other cruisers using the hub app it will cost you 5$. Makes it easier to find your new friends.
    13. Fun times – if you prefer to find activities on the paper copy bring highlighters. A different color highlighter for each person and you can highlight the things you wish to do during the day.
    14. Ear plugs- if you are a light sleeper you may want to pack these.
    15. You can order 2 of anything on the menu in the Main dining room so if you are undecided if you want to try the spring rolls or the strawberry bisque order both. MY 20 year old son orders and eats 2 meals almost every night in the main dining room.
    16. You can use your sign and sail card in the casino to get cash at the tables instead of paying the insane atm fee.
    17. Be sure to notify your bank if you plan to use your credit cards or debit cards outside of the US. Otherwise they will shut you down.
    18. Be sure to check your kids into the kids club once you get onboard and meet the staff and get the schedule of activities for your kids.
    19. I always pack a copy of birth certificates or passports in my suitcase. That way if I get to Florida and some how managed to forget the originals we aren’t totally hosed. I have yet to forget the originals but usually about 2 weeks before a cruise I have the dream that I do.
    20. No need to pack beach towels. Carnival puts blue beach towels in each room that you can use for your shore excursions and on the deck. You can also check out towels on the deck. Make sure you return them or they will charge you for them.
    21. Bag for shore excursion. Do you believe last trip I forgot my shore excursion backpack? That was not a fun day. This time I am taking my 31 tote bag. I will use it to carry on my 12 pack of redbull and my kids juice boxes and soda and my wine.
    22. You can carry on 12 cans of soda per person and 1 bottle of wine per guest age 21 and over. No bottles of water or soda can be carried on.
    23. You can barter in the straw market in Nassau. – Well I think that is a good start. Hope this helps some people out.

  13. I have enjoyed the steak house with the old menu and am looking forward to having it again when I sail the Liberty at the end of the month.    Thanks for sharing the tips.  Can anyone tell me what the pork appetizer is like?

  14. I would say doing self debark in New Orleans you should be off if everything goes as planned by 8:30 at the latest if you have faster to the fun.   Last time I departed New Orleans I was in an Uber and to the airport before 9:30AM.
