  1. She must be on the Victory. Check in is delayed for many sailings until 1:30 because of the beautification project. Therefore, it is conceivable that the cabins would ALL be ready when boarding starts thus eliminating one of the big perks of FTTF. Her question is good as I am also on the Victory and have FTTF but really only got it because of getting to my cabin right away. It's a short cruise so just a few hours early was worth it to me. It won't be if all passengers have cabin access upon boarding.

That is exactly correct. I don't wait to wait around till 4:30 to get into the cabin and there is still FTTF available for my sailing so I was looking for anyone else who had been through this situation with the delayed boarding. To see what time they got into their cabins. Because they could all be ready. The other people in our group don't want FTTF but hubby and I might get it.

  2. I will be taking my son and his best friend on an 8 day cruise on the Magic as a gift for my son for his graduation this coming June. Is there much onboard for 18 year olds to do? They will have their own cabin as the rest of my family is going as well. It seems there are activities for all ages of kids then adults 21 +. Can anyone who has traveled with young adults this age shed any light on the subject?

  3. Family of 6 - 4 boys 17,13,9 and 6

2 Adjoining balconies deck 9 aft

    Port Canaveral

    Amber Cove

    ST. Thomas

    San Juan

    Grand Turk

Port Canaveral was very nice, clean and organized. We had Faster To The Fun so getting on board was a breeze.

Once on board we hiked to our rooms which were ready as well as our luggage.

Rooms were what we expected, it was nice having the adjoing balconies. Wife, my 6yr old and I in 1 cabin and my 17,13 and 9 in the other. Beds were very comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised at the shower pressure..better then most hotels!

Room temperature could have been colder though we did sleep under the covers most nights. Some of the best sleep I have had in awhile!

Rooms were serviced twice a day, morning and night. The room steward was attentive and friendly as well as most staff. Not over the top but never really saw anyone not liking their job.

The ship is huge, took us several days to find everything and had to consult the "you are here map" several times.

The ship was clean and well taken care of. Workers were always cleaning something.

The pools are small though never too crowded to get wet. The water park was very good, specially the spray area. Hot tubs were crowded at times.

The food was above average and could always find something for everyone. We did the steakhouse one night and while it was very good, I wouldn't spend the $200 again as the food in the MDR is plenty good as well as the buffet.

Guys burgers are some of the best we have had and the pizza was tasty.

The ice cream machines are the hardest working things on the ship and it shows...

I being a heavy soda drinker purchased the bottomless bubbles and honestly with the ability to bring on soda and the lemonade there was really no value in it. The bar tenders rather service the drinkers then the soda people and it showed. The bar service in the MDR was bad, took forever to get a drink and forget about a 2nd....

Overall a great vacation and even with the cruise being sold out, really never waited too long in any lines...

    Some notes:

Faster to the Fun -worth every penny if only used to bypass line at guest services

Bottomless Bubbles - not worth it, bring your own

Steak House - Very good, not for my family at $200

Shoes for deck are a must as it gets VERY HOT

    No need to bring towels

DO NOT OVER PACK - we took advantage of the $15 bag of laundry...great!

    DR. E is FANTASTIC

Carnival is definitely the younger party crowd.

    We had an awesome time!

Did you find there was enough to do to keep the 17 year old entertained? I will be traveling with my 18 year old son and his friend this coming June and I sure hope they arent bored.

  4. I'm crusing in 49 days on the Victory and I got an email this am about stateroom beautification for my sailing Oct 20th and boarding time is moved back and wont start till 1:30. I also sailed on deck 7 of the Victory in January 2016 and it had not been updated. The ship had a recent dry dock though because it does have the Alchemy bar...

  5. This is the first time I am not getting faster to the fun. Others in our party don't want to spend the money for it. I was on the Victory in January out of Miami and they didn't start boarding till noon. Does boarding time just depend on what time the ship clears customs? We are leaving our hotel for the port at 10:30 for our cruise and just wanted to know if anyone has any experience boarding in Canaveral lately?

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

  6. My October cruise has went down 50$ pp so I grabbed that up but since that drop it has went back up in price. My cruise for June 2017 on the Magic has stayed the same since I booked it two months ago. I check a couple times a week for price drops and I have an app. But I havent seen much change lately.

  7. I cruised out of Miami in January with FTTF. We got there around 10:30. We checked in and had a seat. All in all that took about 15 minutes. There was no line for FTTF. I watched about 2/3rds of a movie on my tablet and they were boarding FTTF at a little after 12. This was for my cruise on the Victory.

  8. Being part of a family of 5 myself, I would change my booking. Obivously with your cruise being so soon that isnt an option. I wouldn't want my young children across a hall from me. Why two bathrooms is very appealing the thought that my husband or kids couldn't be in the same room or atleast a connecting room with me would have me a nervous wreck the whole cruise. Maybe another ship is sailing at the same time that has room for 5.

Maybe sleeping bags on the floor for the 6 year old and have the two year old in bed with you???????

  9. We cruise on the Victory on October 20th. I want to book a 10:30 am non stop flight that gets into Orlando at 12:40 PM. Do you think that is giving me enough time? I know the port is far from the airport. Cruised out of Canaveral last year.

This method allows me to drop my kids off at school before heading to the airport.

The other option is a 6:45 AM flight that gets into MCO at 10:50 and has a plane change in Atlanta. I would have to get someone to come to my house the night before and get my kids to school and the baby sitter.

    WWYD?

I am leaning toward the non direct option because that gives a little more time for a delay or something.
