  1. We've seen tv coverage of the riots in London, between coverage of the US stock market. It does look horrible. Whats the reason for such anger? I think I saw something about the police killing someone but never fully understood the story.

    Donna

Donna, a person was shot by Police the other day. When a firearm is used by Police here an investigation takes place immediately and this was underway when there was a silent protest by family members outside the local Police station on Saturday. This protest was 'hijacked' by criminals, looters and arsonists and they have then proceeded to wreck and loot the local area. Now riots are starting in other areas and 'events' inciting riots have started to appear on Facebook, including one for the city centre of Manchester. People are invited and more disturbingly people are saying they will attend to perform acts of violence. It is terrible.
  2. So, I have sat down at the desk top, put in all the info but can't print the Set Sail Pass. No logo appears to link into but it does say all the info is complete. Do we have to wait somehow? Other times I think it has printed off straight away.

I haven't seen much news lately but the radio reports of what is happening in London are horrible. John is watching the last cricket 20/20 quarter final, so may see some tv coverage when it finishes.

    Corinne

Hi Corinne, are you using Internet Explorer or another browser? You should see a layout like the attached with a print button under each passenger name in step 4.

  3. Watching sky news and some horrific scenes in London. It's like something from the Blitz. The amount of youths running about with hoods and scarfs - do their parents not bother about where their children are.

Looting and setting properties on fire - really can't believe what I'm watching.

Unfortunately we are getting reports of riots starting in several areas of London, especially friends on Facebook are reporting riots in their immediate area and another where their gay bar has been closed by police for their safety. There are also reports of trouble in Birmingham and rumours that it will spread to Manchester and Liverpool. This has happened before and it's all blamed on youngsters not being treated kindly by the Police and the government not providing them with activities to keep them amused. mmm, nothing to do with the fact that they are only interested in looting electrical goods, footwear and comitting arson for no good reason.
  4. Peter or who ever is familiar with the Liberty, Kate is interesting in knowing other then the main dining room, what place could hold our luncheons. It was suggested to her by RCL, we possibly could use Brassiere 30. She wrote me and felt she may have to split up the luncheons due to the amount of people signed up, which presently is close to #150 for the 1st lunch and for Portofinos, around 110 possible with new additions. She is awaiting further contact from RCL on whom to contact. to set it up. Thank you.

    Gay

Hi Gay, I'm not familiar with any other large size dining venues. I know there are several 'private' dining rooms like Velasquez and Bernini on deck 3 which are on either side of the main Rembrandt dining room. As the ships facts state that the total capacity of the MDR is 2101 with Rembrandt (652, deck 3), Michelangelo (500, deck 4) and Botticelli (883, deck 5 used for MTD)that leaves 66 for both of these 'private' dining rooms and having seen Velasquez, I reckon that would be about right between the 2 venues. BTW we reason I've seen Velasquez is that it was used as the 'left luggage' bag drop for those of us using the late departure option in May.

"Brassiere 30" is an option in the main Rembrandt dining room available at lunchtime on sea days. This menu features "Brasserie 30", which is designed to allow guests to have a complete lunch in 30 minutes. Guests can order dishes which will be brought by the waiters and/or you can get things from a buffet. If it is the same as when we were onboard in May, the dining room is only open for 90 minutes from noon to 1:30 pm.

The numbers will have to be split if you want to use Portofino or Chops as the total capacity according to RCI is 100 and 104 respectively.

There is a description of Brasserie 30 here http://www.beyondships.com/RCI-LOS-Tour-6.html

  5. Yes Richard Spacey we had him on our Oasis cruise...he was a total riot... a lof of people like Ken Rush... I have been on several cruises with him and he is not very approachable always in a hurry....

Sherry: Agree with you about Ken, he is too "Full of Himself"!!!
So agree with you both, can't stand the man Ken Rush. I don't know how he has the nerve to be on a TV program and say he hasn't found the right woman yet!!!! He never will! Allan Brooks was no better either IMHO.
  6. Gay, I think Leo Papa is the current CD. I just don't know if he'll bring us back across. A lot of times they start or end a contract at the beginning of a TA. Some of the CDs are better with all the sea days. I think Gordon W took her over but I don't know when they switched over. I like some better than others but sometimes it's nice to have a new one.
Hi Marilyn, I also think Leo Papa is the current CD. Gordon Whatman was the CD when we were aboard in May and I know he left in June. He didn't say he would be back to take us back across the Atlantic.

Like you say about starting or finishing a contract at the beginning of a TA. The Diamond Concierge we had Oana Popa (who was great btw) is finishing her contract on the 28th Oct and in May she didn't know who would be replacing her.

  7. We have no OBC. Our agent did discount the price, which they are allowed to do here but we have nothing else and will need the gratuities on the account too. Unfortunately, we are not able to have the RCCL card here in Europe, so no chance to earn OBC that way. Did get Diamond Balcony discount though. ;)

    Corinne

Same situation here re OBC Corinne. Although did have $25 OBC for last May sailing from booking offer when RCI announced the new onboard booking bonuses in 2010.
  8. OK, so first off, Corinne, well done on the post count.

To everyone else, many thanks for your good wishes, we'll be fine I'm sure, just may take a couple of days to get used to the fact of not having to get ready for work and making sure the breadwinner (Patrick) gets out to earn the crust whilst Charlie and I relax! :D

A lot to sort out over the next few days, but we'll get there. Not sunk in yet I suppose (or is that the wine?) who knows or cares at this point!

Anyway looks like loads want to see me off in style tomorrow so maybe a heavy night:eek:

    Speak soon my friends.

  9. Its official, final payment made this afternoon. I also emailed to get our on board credit from stock ownership. Any idea how long before I should hear something?

Is there a place on there website where it will be posted?

Peter, I forgot how to check. How many posts do we have to have to make this second chapter of our roll call historical on the lgbt boards?

Hi Donna, if we want to be number one again we'll have to post more than 3048, because once our old thread is removed we have to beat an old thread that has that many replies.
  10. Peter, sorry to hear your news :( I know it wasn't entirely unexpected, but it is still a blow when it actually happens.

Joyce, I hope you can manage to sort things out to your satisfaction.......

George love the picture - and what an interesting job!!

Just finishing packing as we are on our way to London tomorrow to meet up with all our children, including the ones from Israel. We are all off to cruise the Norwegian Fijords - all 11 of us! Some of them have never cruised before, so I hope they like it! Should be some great photo opportunities with us all together. First time we have ever been all together, so quite an emotional week in store :):)

Marilyn, have a great cruise and enjoy you all being together.
  11. I go away for the weekend and you all move!

Think I've fully recovered from my Rewind Weekend @ Scone Palace - loads of acts from the 80's - It was brill - Billy Ocean was the hit of the weekend. Once I've uploaded all my photos onto Facebook I'll put on a link.

Peter - How did things go on Friday??

    Mhairi

Hi, I'm still employed at the moment. Had the interview for the only alternative role here at my current empoyers yesterday. Waiting for the decision but nothing to do so sat here checking out CC!
  12. 86 bottles of Baileys on the Wall

Well here we are over here now. Peter we have joined the ranks of the unemployed. Jerry is retired but does consulting for a company he worked for 10 years ago. He was told today they were merging with another company and they had a Latin American division and sales force already and he was being terminated. As an independent consultant he is not entitled to unemployment. This now changes our living style completely. Thank goodness I do not have to cancel this cruise as it is all paid for and I will not cancel next years TA either I hope. What I might cancel is our B2B on the Serenade in the Caribbean with our traveling friends and take my Visa points and do a free week on the Allure instead. However I have time to work that out. In the meantime I have the house to consider which is our primary concern.

"I am Woman", I will prevail:(

Now there is a storm heading our way. We are in the "cone of uncertainty" By weekend it will be a tropical storm if not a hurricane. We are leaving for Tampa on Thursday and I plan on staying if it hits here. The worse part is due to the high cost of hurricane insurance here, I have a $10,000 deductible. I am hoping for the best here and looking for my hidden stash of valium:D

So if anyone has any special link to the higher powers a good word would help now.

I could use some of that Baileys right now!

    Joyce

Joyce, so sorry to hear your news, I know exactly what you're going through. To have to contend with a storm too. Positive thoughts from here in the UK.

  13. I was thinking a week should be long enough. Let me know if you think that is long enough for those members.

    Thanks

Hi Jenn, unfortunately as some of the original members including those that created the thread, don't post that often I don't think one week is sufficient, but I doubt there's much that can be done about it. Such a shame to lose people when the sailing is only just over 12 weeks away.
  14. This is the continuation of the Roll Call for LGBT LOS 10/29/2011.

Members: Please let me know if there is any important message/information that you want me to list in this first post and I will add it here.

You may continue on with your roll call starting in this new thread. Please feel free to copy over any important information from your old roll call and post a reply with that information to this thread.

    Thank you

Hi How long will the old thread be available for those who do not post frequently and may have it as a subscription?
  15. Just seen the recent Compass from the Voyager sailing from Venice which calls at Croatia and no Spanish ports and I note that the Compass does state that the VAT applies!

Will this still be the case if I make advance bookings for wine etc?

    Karen

Hi Karen, sorry to hear that VAT now appears to be charged when sailing from Venice. Hard to understand as Croatia is still not part of the EU and not expected to be until around 2013. Having not sailed from Venice I can't offer any more advice, sorry.

However, if VAT is now being charged, and you can pre-book, or pre-order stuff online, then it should include the VAT.

  16. Diamond coupon is good for 30 minutes per person free internet time. Don't forget that you can combine both coupons for the same one account (two diamonds in same cabin) for a total of 1 full hour. Was very nice on our last cruise!

Have not been on Freedom since turning Diamond, but will be back aboard in December. Anyone know if you can use your own laptop on WIFI service in your own cabin? Or do you have to go to internet cafe in your PJ's? ;)

That's exactly what we did, 2 coupons, 1 PC, 1 free hour.

Registered a user name and password on a RCI PC in the Diamond Lounge, took the coupons to Guest Relations and by the time logged on in the cabin, there was the credit. No need to go to the internet cafe again.

As for Freedom, yes we used WiFi in our cabin on our last Freedom sailing in 2009.

  17. You'll get a $5 credit - enough for 7.7 minutes of internet use. ;)
We actually got $19.50 internet credit which at 65 cents per minute equates to 30 minutes free. I believe the $5 credit was before the new changes.

Just long enough to reach your email inbox and then get disconnected, ha ha
It gives you a little longer that than, depending on connection speed, which on Liberty and using WiFi in the cabin was very good.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, Diamond benefits last week also included one coupon for a $10 discount off the $25 'wash and fold' offer on 4+ night sailings and another coupon for the 8+ night sailings.

One free photo offer and as mentioned, 2 beverages plus a basket containing cookies, mixed fruit and candid peel in your cabin on arrival and bathrobes for use onboard.

On Liberty we did get a welcome letter from the Diamond Concierge who is fantastic and also an invite to a back stage entertainment tour, and the welcome back Crown & Anchor event.

Entry to the Ice Show without reservations was also a benefit by just the production of your Sea Pass card as this shows your status.

There is also 'buy 1 get 1 free' coupon for wine, beer or soda.

    15% Tuxedo discount.

20% discount on a glass of wine, beer or soda.

Free non-alcoholic speciality coffee, but only when ordered with a meal in the speciality restaruants (not including Johnny Rockets).

'but 1 get 1 free' milk shakes in Johnny Rockets

3 free slot pull tokens (we won a key chain again!)

Casino match play coupons (can't remember how much value, I think $5)

15% discount on purchases of $25 or more on RCI logo merchandise

Discount on purchases of over $1000 on fine jewelry and I believe one for art purchases.

There is also another coupon for 20% discount if you purchase an internet package.

Stateroom phone discount - 75% discount so $2 per minute rate

$5.00 USD off any dry cleaning or pressing services of $25.00 or more.

Purchase any bingo package and receive one free strip of 6 Jackpot Bingo Cards.

    10% discount off Airbrush Tattoos

15% discount off Caricature & Portraits - on any Black & White or Color Caricature or portrait.

25% off the purchase of RCI Savor Cookbook.

20% Spa or salon service discount

There may have been more, but these are what I can recall.
