  1. Good Morning everyone.

We have MTD reservations for 8:30 at the moment, but will definitely change them as required, either on the day or even in the evening.

Well just spent 30 minutes on the phone with RCI trying to sort out the mess that Delta had caused.

Delta had changed our flight home from Atlanta from Saturday, 12th Nov (after we arrive from Miami) to Sunday the 13th and had not notified RCI (nor us for that matter). This meant we had to find and pay for a hotel ourselves (no chance) and we would arrive home 1 day later (which is not an option due to work, well Patrick anyway!).

So RCI tried to get us back on the original flight, but there is no longer availability!

The other option was AA via JFK, leaving Miami before 4 pm but only giving 60 minutes transfer time in JFK. I said not enough time.

The only other option meant leaving with AA at 1:20 pm which gave us no time in Fort Lauderdale, so again I said no. No offence to New Yorkers, but I hate JFK. I suggested Continental (or whatever they are called these days) out of Newark but the connection from Miami was even earlier.

So, the only other option was BA at 5:15 pm out of Miami to LHR and then onto Manchester. RCI weren't sure they could do it on the fare being paid, but they relented when I said it wasn't my fault Delta had messed up.

So now we're on BA back home.

Thank goodness I noticed this before the flights we ticketed which could happen in the next 14 days or so.

  2. I was checking our return flight reservation which I have documentation that shows us leaving Miami on the 12th Nov via Atlanta on the 12th arriving in Manchester on the 13th.

Now when I check the reservation on Check my trip and Delta, our reservation shows us leaving Miami as expected on the 12th but not leaving Atlanta until 9 pm on the 13th which means we don't arrive home until the 14th! What is going on?

  3. John's idea of heaven. All shops closed. LOL

While we have been to the Costa del Sol often we have never been to Cadiz and were looking forward to seeing the town. Now it seems there will be a Fiesta, so I am glad we are not planning on the Seville trip.

    Corinne

Hi Corinne, that's exactly our thoughts too and were always looking forward to seeing the town. Patrick's first comment was that it will stop me spending money in the shops too seeing they will be closed!:D
  4. It has been mentioned that the day we are in Cadiz (Nov 1st) is 'All Saints Day' and so is a public holiday in the whole of Spain.

I have done a quick search on the net and found the following:

According to a particular travel guide, the following has been posted about Nov 1st, 'All Saints Day' in Spain.

Which is the Most Interesting Spanish City to be in During All Saints' Day?

The most interesting city to be in for All Saints' Day is Cadiz. All Saints' Day in Cadiz is a little different: known as 'Tosantos', the Gaditanos (locals of Cadiz) do wacky things like dress up rabbits and suckling pigs in the market, as well as making dolls out of fruit. The whole region gets involved and the festivities last all week.

The same guide did say:- 'Note that all shops will be closed on All Saints' Day in Spain'

  5. Well done on arranging the excursions George.

As for a tribute being boring, mmm, a few sherrys, the gentle movement of the ship, I don't think so :D Elton's got his hands full at the moment with the new baby!

OMG, and BTW I was referring to 'sherrys' as in beverage, nothing personally Sherry! In gay parlance, 'sherry' is a reference to an alcoholic drink - honest! I'm not suggesting the gay boys are monopolising Sherry at all!
  6. I have been to five Elton Concerts :) the last on the 10th June in Glasgow this year, will a tribute be boring ??

Booked our tours in Israel today.

Nazareth, Cana and Galilee then two days later Jerusalem & Bethlehem both these trips are 10 hours.

Well done on arranging the excursions George.

As for a tribute being boring, mmm, a few sherrys, the gentle movement of the ship, I don't think so :D Elton's got his hands full at the moment with the new baby!

  7. Just back from a truly memorable cruise with our family. The weather was really kind to us - only a couple of hours rain the whole trip!

It was so wonderful to be with all our kids and grandkids. We had so many laughs and of course lots of cuddles :)

The Norwegian Fjords were truly beautiful......

You have been really chatty since we went away, so I have lots to catch up on. Still down in London until Tuesday, then we head back up north to Glasgow.

Will chat some more once I have caught up......

Glad to have you back although as I mentioned on FB, it seems to have passed really quickly. Glad you had a good time and we'll catch up soon.
  8. Good Morning Folks

OK, so rode Rita, met her Nemisis, drifted on Air, disappeared into Obvilion after sharing it all with at least Th13teen others! :D

Then there was the Sonic Spinball on the way to leaving on the Runaway Mine Train!

And that was only some of the stuff at Alton Towers, forgotten how spread out things were at the park. Walked miles in the 7+ hours we were there. Calf muscles are complaining today!

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend.

  9. Good Evening All

Nothing exciting here really to report, we're off to one of the top theme parks in the UK tomorrow (Alton Towers) to get thrown around on the rides (we are theme park junkies).

I notice that there is a new reality talent show starting here in the UK in Sept - 'Showboaters'. 10 amateur entertainers battle it out to get a place in a cruise ships entertainment team. Filmed on Thomson Dream earlier this year when she was sailing the Caribbean. So, Matthew, do we see you auditioning?:D

11 weeks tonight we'll be in the W Barcelona - woo hoo! Get me to their Eclipse cocktail bar on the 26th floor!

  10. OK apologies now if I miss anything or anyone but I think by brain is mashed at the moment.

Karen, congrats on the the results, I've got 11 weeks to go to get into those Speedos, not!!!

Sherry - so fantastic news on Kyle, I think it is wonderful.

As for the music in the disco, sorry folks but from recent experience we're not going to get stuff from the era we want. mmmm, perhaps a 14 night sailing means we can get our own way in the request stakes.

OK I need (demand) the following:

    Beyonce

    Pink

    Lady Gaga

    Madonna

    Katy Perry

    Britney

Kylie (mmm, may not be familiar to my US friends)

    Cher

Does anyone think there's a gay theme here?:D

  11. George, sorry meant to say, great deal with Swiss, I presume via Zurich and a great deal on the cruise too, especially for a 10 day sailing.

I hope everyone will be 'throwing some moves' in the Catacombs! This is as long as the DJ isn't as self indulgent as I've experienced on previous Freedom class sailings and plays some decent music.

Must make sure I have relaxing days before trying to stay up after midnight!:D

  12. According to a chart I just saw it should set about 6:51 on the 28th. Clocks will be set back on the 29th.

Sherry, That is wonderful news!! It's certainly nice to have some of that.

Sorry for any confusion by mentioning the 30th, but here in the UK we don't officially change the clocks until 2 a.m. on the day of Sunday the 30th, but most people will change them before they retire on the 29th unless you're out partying like the gay boys until the early hours of the morning!:D
  13. Sherry this is fabulous news so happy to hear this. Miracles do happen.

Shelley according to a sunrise/Sunset Chart I found, here are time times beginning with Oct 26th thru 29th.

    Gay

There is also a time change on Sun 30th when the clocks will go back 1 hour as it is the end of summer time. Not sure how the ship caters for this when local time has changed by -1 hour.
  14. Okay you want some good news, I have some fantastic news..

Remember Kyle the BIL of my granddaughter who was seriously injured in the motorbike accident...well he is still in rehab in Colorado but has beat all odds and predictions on his future. He is almost back to normal...been going out with his wife and attendant from Craig Hospital... has even gone white river rafting, boat rides, all with his family... he still cannot use his right arm and walks right now with a stick... but it is a true miracle, especially as they nearly pulled the plug when he was in the Coma... He still has a long way to go and they will not let him home yet... Jessica his wife is having their 2nd child on the 17th, the day of my Son's Wedding.... We truly believe that ALL the prayers that came his way and the wonderful treatment at Craig Hospital in Colorado contributing to this Miracle.

SO GOOD NEWS FROM ME TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

Absolutely fantastic news, after all he's gone through it's so good to hear his recovery.
  15. I agree we need some good news today. Anyone???

Here's one.... we all woke up this morning. Yeah good news!!!

I am getting nutty, I need a cruise. So on that note....

Until the Liberty sails with the LOST group.

80 bottles of everything on the wall.

    Have a great day,

    Joyce

LOL so funny Joyce because a lot of stores here no longer have 80 bottles of anything on the wall thanks to the looters! Good to know the number of days is getting smaller!
  16. Good Morning all, very sad day here in Manchester with all the devastation thanks to the mindless thugs and youths who live here.

A friend of mine has suffered the complete loss of one of his shops, and 2 others wrecked. His staff are very scared and frightened.

I can't even watch the TV News at the moment because it is full of 'do gooders' saying what should be done for these poor youths and making excuses for their actions. There is no excuse for their actions. I don't have a job but I'm as sure as heck not going to vandalise a store so that I can get a flat screen TV, iPod, mobile phone or new trainers which is what these scum are saying because they don't have enough money. If they don't have enough money how come they can contact each other and arrange these 'riots' via Blackberry?

Sorry rant over, just needed to vent and explain why thoughts are not solely on this cruise!

  17. Hope things calm down soon Peter, what area of Manchester do you and Patrick stay in? Is Matthew in a bar in the city centre? Stay safe.

George - I would have been watching out for you if I'd known you were heading to Broughty Ferry.;)

We now live 2 miles out of the city centre. Where we live was in the city centre and last night vehicles were set alight right outside our old apartment balcony.
  18. Peter, first thank you for checking in. I had heard a news headline that there was rioting in Manchester and just checked BBC to get more info. So glad that you all are safe. One thing did make me smile, only Matthew could end up getting locked into a bar!!! I should think he may take a while to live that down.

    Stay safe.

Just concerned for Matthew as he's locked in a bar on Canal St and he's just posted on Facebook that the vandals have just started to go down there.
  19. Hi folks

A little concerned at the moment with the riots and the devastation being carried out by thugs in Manchester. A great many of the shops in the area have been vandalised and looted. People are actually being seen carrying TV's down the road!

Shops are on fire and Matthew is locked in a bar! He's OK but not allowed to move around yet. The public transport system has been severely affected with the tram system not entering the city centre.

The neighbouring city of Salford is also being vandalised too.

Now, as it's turned dark, more rioters are arriving into the city.
