  1. Any feedback on ports or excursions ? ...was spice H2O crowded. Thanks!::)

We got off at every port but didn't do any excursions.. Morocco was a quick walk up into town, I think it was Lanzarote that had a $15 return shuttle into town, there was a free port shuttle in Madeira, a five euro return port shuttle in Malaga.

Only once sat outback at spice and that was when we got back onboard in Madeira, was crowded but 6 of us soon got a table for sail away, I had a wuick dip in the pool.. then the second we came through out of port it was like a tornado hit lol, towels, drinks, chairs, even the massive sun umbrella's started flying... so everyone made a quick exit!

  2. This is my first time on NCL,

This is my first time going to europe

doing the 7 day cruise on May 22

how was the late night entertainment,

    Thanks

we went to Bliss a few nights but only til about half 11, normally spent the wee small hours in o'sheehans! from what i gather most venues closed about midnight except o'sheehans and bliss, which would just carry on playing music after the karaoke and an hour's speciality disco (50/60's one night, abba another night, 80's etc 2230 til 2330)

  3. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Did you eat at any of the specialty restaurants? If so which one did you like the best?

For the evening, did you eat as a large party or did you break into smaller groups?

    What cabin did you have?

    Thanks for answering questions

We didn't eat in the speciality restaurants.

We did break up into smaller groups in the evening, 2 of our party like to eat early so went to the garden cafe at half 5, 4-6 of our group would meet for dinner at manhatten or shanghai's about half 8 and then some nights we would organise a meal for all 10 of us (aparently you can pre book a table if 6 or more in party)

we were 10306 inside, deck 10 aft, we had 5 rooms in row nearly, lovely rooms, had heard the horror stories! lol

  4. That's great to hear.I'm glad you had a great holiday! We are off on WEpic shortly and I was getting worried about some of the reviews, they were so mixed.

Can I ask you about your account on the ship, did you use a credit/ debit card or cash? I don't want the hassle of exchanging money etc and was going to use a card as we have the UBP and SEP and have prepaid our tips so don't plan on spending more than a hundred or two on-board.

Also what was your favourite place for breakfast?

we used a credit card, they add it to your account when you check in and you can check what is on the bill on your tv in your room, any queries and you go to credit services to resolve it (my friends had a $20 charge from o'sheehan's for chardonnay that they have not got a clue why it was charged but they removed it happily)

Then on the last night they leave a paper copy of the final bill in your room, you dont have to do anything to pay, it is taken automatically.

I think you can go settle the final bill in cash on the last evening and if you leave a debit card on the account at the start of the cruise they take a certain amount out to check it is a fluid account, it is then returned about 4 weeks later.

My favourite place for breakfast was the garden cafe, buffet, deck 15. An amazing choice, cannot see anyone not finding what they like (also you get real english bacon up there that you dont get anywhere else on the ship!!!) was great up there for a big party, first one in got a table and the rest of us just came and went!

you can go to o'sheehans from 5am and order a full english/omelette etc and the other restaurants do breakfasts to order, there really is too much choice lol

  5. Got back off the Epic on Sunday, Alot of what I have to say about it is already written on here so not going to do a long review but feel free to ask me anything and hopefully can answer...

I loved the cruise, all 10 of us did, felt like we were treated like royalty.. cabin cleaned twice a day, drinks practically poured down our necks, amazing food, great entertainment, all staff seemed happy and couldn't do enough for us, the ship is massive but very clean and well run in my opinion!

I go on holiday alot and have always said, you get what you pay for! Not true this time, felt like we had paid 3 times the amount to get what we got, Well done NCL/Epic!!!!!

  6. I (female) do all the holiday planning and booking in my house (married, no kids) and do it all for many of our friends too... US hol for 6 of us last year, Epic in 9 days for 10, Spain for 8 of us in June!!

I am lucky that my work involves me sat on a switchboard, mostly twiddling my thumbs with only a pc as entertainment (netflix won't work on new pc :-( ) so i spend many hours finding the best flights, hotels, transfers etc oh and of course cruises now! Only said at the weekend that if I changed jobs and had to actually 'work' while at work they would be booking their own, while I enjoy playing travel agent, It helps that I am being paid to do it at work lol

They do apprieciate me doing it for them, They pay me in vodka!!!!!

  7. Great questions asked and lots of info had in the reply's!!!!

While there are so many on this thread who know a lot about the epic, I have a question...

One of the people I am cruising with week after next keeps asking me if we need a power/wattage converter type thing? I said out of the countless reviews and posts I have read on here that no one I think has said they had a problem with not being able to use any of their electrical items on board but he keeps asking me! We are from the uk and are bringing european adapters as have read they are better than the US ones for us.. Do we need a converter?!?!

    Thank you

  8. As far as I'm aware no travel kettles or irons are allowed- I didnt try and bring one but I'm pretty sure that's the rule. A lot of people on here talk about bringing wrinkle release spray to make up for the lack of an iron, but its not something sold in the UK. I made my own (following online instructions)- fill a small spray bottle with water and a splash of fabric conditioner. Then just hang the clothes up and spray all over them, giving them a tug to pull the wrinkles out. Depending on the fabric it works pretty well!

I plugged my GHDs into the European socket under the desk as that one has the correct voltage! So make sure you bring European travel adaptors. I bought both US and euro ones but never used the US sockets. There's a hairdryer in the cabin and it worked fine for my long hair- it was a proper one, not one of those pathetic travel ones where you have to hold a button in (they give me cramp in my arm!)

I was in 10297, which are you in?

...First time doing the 'quote' thing, Hope it works....

Thank you for replying.. will relay the info to the the rest in my party! I dont take an iron on holiday... I'm on holiday lol!!!

We are opposite your room, I'm in 10306, We have 5 rooms port side. Can't wait for the rumble of the engines to wake us up when docking (fingers crossed lol) in Tangier and the other ports... Who need an alarm clock eh??!!

Don't let me take up any more of your time.... You have a review to carry on with!!!

  9. Again fab review!!!...

What was your room number? we are also in a deck 10 aft inside! can I pick your brains a little or anyone else who knows?

Would we be alright bringing a travel kettle?

If there is no iron are we alright bringing a travel iron do you think? (seen a few on here say you aren't allowed)

    Was there a hairdryer?

(To anyone that may know...) Will my ghd's work?!?! (in the 2 different places in America I tried em they wouldnt come on, I presume cos of the wattage difference!!)

Keep up the good work... I have ordered my brita filter bottle, saves hunting round ashore for water to bring on! thanks for that tip and the many many others!!

    Roll on the 24th Feb!!!!!

  10. Hi all, I am going on the 24th Feb Tangier/Canaries 11 night cruise and friends I am going with have been asking me what we do about money... Having read bits on here...

Am I right in thinking all onboard purchases are in dollars?

Do we need to take some dollars or will everything be put on the room number and paid for at the end?

(is it cash in the casino?)

We will be taking Euro's for when we are ashore in the canaries and other ports (not planning on spending anything when we dock in Tangier, Just a quick wonder round)

    Thank you in advance!
