What does that matter? We don't have a 'crazy' law like the American PVSA (sometimes called the Jones Act) that severely restricts passengers travelling between US ports.
On the other hand, the passengers will undoubtedly get their cruise fare refunded probably with extra benefits added.
i some how thought they could not dock just re read they will just have to isolate themselves for 2 weeks

Passengers on Golden Princess cannot go ashore at Akaroa today .She is on a return trip from Melbourne with 3 suspected cases of the virus on board .She still Has the rest of NZ to cruise around after having visited Fiordland and Dunedin .
how will the no cruise to dock in Australia affect that now??

From midnight tonight all passengers travelling from overseas, both on planes and on cruise ships, will have to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival in Australia.
just saw that how does that affect those that may have just left aust on a cruise for when they come back to same port they left ??

I remember my brother coming home from a trip to Australia in the late 80s. We went out to dinner. Mom ate too much and said she was stuffed. Brother proceeded to tell us that "stuffed" has a very different meeting in Australia.
stuffed to me is either very very full [ i am nearly there now to be honest lol ] or when you have been working your butt off so to speak [working hard lol] and am exhausted and could sleep for a week so to speak , any other i am not sure on maybe ones i dont know about which is possible when kids these days turn normal words into meaning other stuff

When I first read this I thought you meant that he was really drunk (in the UK pissed means drunk) and was wondering why they even let him on the plane. I bet you're wishing they hadn't! Hang in there! Hope the rest of your vacation goes without further incident.
In Australia Pissed has many meanings there is a comedian friend of mine that does P&O cruises and he has a joke about the way words are used and this word is in it with more than 2 meanings , was going to list all i knew but not sure if that would be good

Apparently skin grafts have been ordered from the US by the NZ doctors. These are required due to the complex nature of the burns. I wonder if this is the first time some of the doctors/surgeons have dealt with volcanic burns. My thoughts are with those patients and thanks to the medical staff working around the clock to treat them.
Read Australia is sending that stuff too

Not too sure if this has been mentioned yet, I read a news report earlier today of some passengers on the OTS are complaining that they will now miss Dunedin and the sounds, due to the extended stay in Tauranga.
Mindboggling!
Sadly not thinking of those that won't ever see their families again poor form on their part
-
Some have been found to be in hospital not missing that's good news for some families

The reason that the Ovation has for the second day been held up in port is because late this afternoon the Police are treating the deaths as a criminal investigation. Until they complete whatever they wish to complete the Ovation may be going nowhere.
As of 9.30 tonight NZ time the 8 missing people are still on White Island. At a news conference this afternoon POlice advised they can see 6 bodies.
i read 8 i have read 11 where is the 11 coming from ?? i am getting confused

I heard on the news that police had requested that Ovation stay tonight as they need to talk to passengers who saw what happened, I assume whom were on the boat which was leaving as the volcano blew. I think she is now scheduled to leave tomorrow at 11 am.
Leigh
also to get dna from items from those that didnt return from crater is what i heard too

We only found out today....... OMG...... ( as still at sea )
We were standing there Monday 2nd December...... Our Hearts go out the those who are now part of the island.....
and the family touch by this
Looked at the photos in disbelief, particularly the damaged chopper... just like ours....
Now I look at the photos with a different light.....
For Now Don and Magda.
Interestingly our pilot pointed out the shelter out with the instructions, if there is rumbling run to the chopper if he was there or the shelter........
I hope they made it to the shelter I hope they are still alive by some miracle glad you did get to see it though but seeing what's happened if I was in same positon as you I would be same with my feelings sorry to put a damper on your cruise my thoughts are with all affected by this as I think it will affect us all to be honest in some way or another
-
11 Australians are still missing the rest are in hospitals , Navy from other countries so very sad. My thoughts with them all
