  1. My girls were the same ages when we cruised on the Anthem during spring break. They had their own room next to ours. We saw them at dinner. Pretty sure they were out til curfew and then slept til lunch (which they regretted the moment they got off the ship). First night went to the kids club and met friends. Subsequent nights none of those kids went to the kids club. Instead they pretty much hung out at the seaplex which had a lot to offer. Rules were NO one in your cabin and you can't go in anyone else's cabin. We also signed a form which allowed them to get on and off the ship at Coco as they pleased.

They had wow bands and free reign to charge but knew the total cruise spending limit per person.

As an aside, my 13 year old met a boy from Mexico and fell in love. She didn't get his digits and cried all the way home : )

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  2. That was not the case with me in Sept. 2016.

As I said...the dog found my PRE Packaged (unopened) bag of crackers. You are not allowed to take food of any kind into Cozumel. If you did, then you just "got away with it."

I am very sorry that this happened to you but you are absolutely not correct. You MAY bring manufacturer sealed food such as crackers, peanut butter etc. It must be in the sealed bag and unopened. You may not have a ziplock bag with food.

Again...sorry that happened to you but just want the OP to know it is ok.

    Thanks!

  3. Having 4 kids (16, 15, 12 and 8) this subject is near and dear to my heart. Short answer is YES I would depending on the child. Long answer is that it gets VERY difficult for most kinds once they hit HS to be able to do this and keep up. I would encourage you to do it now before you get to that point because you very well may have a child (like I do) that absolutely does not want to fall behind.

As an aside, I live in an area in PA that is loaded with prestigious private schools with tuition around 30-40K per year. My girls skate with many of these girls so we get a window into their educations, policies etc. They ENCOURAGE you to take your child out of school for family vacations/experiences. They value the teaching moments that almost always present themselves. They do not have the 10 day absence rule that requires you to provide a doctors note if you go above that number of days.

Last year my 8 year old had pneumonia and was out for 5 days--for just ONE illness. Of course he got the stomach bug 3 times...you see where we are going here. So I got the lovely letter from the state and I called the school. The principal was very nice and said to disregard the letter. The only reason they enforce the policy is because of MONEY. Apparently the schools get money based on number of kids in school and number of days? I don't know...my head exploded at that point. Ridiculous.

So I went off on a tangent :) Enjoy your vacation...while you still can lol

  4. Yes, there surely will be. I am not sure why it matters WHY they are unruly (naturally evil, parent fault, cause they wear purple underwear?) Who cares...that really doesn't matter at all. If they are ...they are. Having said that... we took an Anthem spring break cruise and yes there were PLENTY of kids of all natures. If you want to avoid them stay clear of the seaplex and that general area. You will find them in packs riding the elevators 20 at a time. You will find them around the pool deck at night. Believe me...they prefer to stay away from you as much as you want to stay away from them. Besides the elevator I only saw them in passing. The solarium is a great place to be as well.

  5. They are not going to heat up her JennyCraig/Nutrisystem/Medifast etc for her. I would certainly call the special needs department to get an idea. I do have to tell you that the person you get on the phone and the person you meet on embarkation day (head waiter) will most likely NEVER have communicated and might very well have completely different answers to the question of heating her meals.

She will have been on this program for a quite a while and should hopefully be able to experiment with eating normally (non-packaged) food. Maybe she doesn't want to go? Just a thought.

In any case, you are very nice to reach out and looking into this. Happy cruising!

  6. a ful button down shirt? no way no how.

a polo/golf shirt? I would take the chance but only if it is a shirt that has held up to many washings prior.

these things are thrown together into a mesh laundry bag and washed with 20 other mesh laundry bags in one giant washing machine. then dried by Drogon and his remaining sibling

anything that needs pressing, should never be put in the wash and fold bags.

I am dying laughing right now...thank you!!!!!

  7. My H and I loved the Grandeur. We have also been on Explorer, Serenade, and Anthem. As well as several other lines. I felt the staff was so warm and friendly. The ship was the perfect size for getting around and loved the MDR. I would go again in a heartbeat. I would not take my teenage kids on Grandeur but for us parents...loved it.
