  1. And by moving the partition to that point, the side Cat 8 would still be an "extended" balcony. Those that have booked that one are getting a GREAT deal - at least at this point!

    Tom

That side is more of a wrap than the wrap.. I couldnt tell from the earlier pics.. but these show it much more.. yes those who booked those cabins got a great deal.. usually the cabin beside the wraps on the conquest class were 9A's as well.. but it seems on the Dream they arent..

  2. Here is a good exterior shot of 9475. Looks like the best balcony on the ship. We have 9472, cant wait!

    P1010133.JPG

Looks like they could move that partition over on the side just after that solid door to make it a true wrap

I like deck 9 balcony size.. I dont like the idea of no sun.. doesnt look like you would get any at all with that overhang... I dont always like sun.. but some is nice

  3. Tom, if deck 7 is the bottom deck in the picture, then it **kinda** looks like we have a "partial" aft wrap also. Just seems as if our Spirit class aft wraps were a WHOLE LOT BIGGER than that.:confused:

Karen you have to realize on the Spirit class the aft wraps are or were CAT 11 now VS.. on the Dream they are 9A's

  4. Sadly, even a significant "rebate" is not likely to make it good for us. The pictures posted show basically a bed - that you can not even walk around - no sofa, no table and chair and no counter/desk space. We paid wwaaaaayyyyy too much money for a basic dorm room!!

There has been a SEVERE misrepresentation of these rooms. I certainly hope that my CVS calls me with other options - not just a rebate and keeping this cabin!

Like I said before - if I did not have family travelling with us I would have already cancelled.

I can understand your frustration.. just hope that they make it right for you.. and the rest of the pax that have booked these rooms.. remember you are gonna be on a cruise... ;)

  5. My "BEST" answer is: I don't know.

My guess is that since it is way up front by the Bridge, cabin lights may reflect on the water and interfere with the view of the people steering the ship. I do know that if I would leave the window drapes open when I went out at night, the steward would come into my room and close them.

We have have aft wrap cabins and the steward comes in and closes the drapes everytime.. whether it is day or night

  6. Agreed :(!!

The really sad part is - those of us with Cat 11 and 9A "experience" have now booked these tiny no wrap cabins. I really wish someone had taken the time to correctly update the deck plans when it became obvious that these were to be tiny - no wrap cabins - rather than to continue the deception .

It is amazing to me that the contiune to show - and sell -these a full wraps - with reasonable cabin space  . FRUSTRATING....to say the least!!

I agree it does suck.. someone dropped the buck and is not admitting their screw up.. for those of you that did book those cabins hopefully a nice rebate is in order.. and the bonus is you still get the aft of the ship.. think positive.. dont let it ruin your cruise!!! Carnival MUST step up and make their screw up right!!!

  7. Why should they move it, well a 9 is about $1000 more than an 8 for starters.

Also Carnival is advertising it as a wrap, where in fact looking at all the pictures I have seen the 8's next door to them are the wraps.

Now just to go off topic for a second.

From a legal point, is anyone else amazed at Johns post on his blog ?

Has the legal dept in Miami just spat there corn flakes over the dining room table ?

I never asked why??? I asked how do you think they can do it??? Please see my post above this I am well aware of the cost of a 9A.. and $1000 is pushing it but it is more expensive...;)

No I dont read Johns blog.. so if you could post a link to said comment would be appreciated;)

  8. YEP - I knew that I was taking liberties when I selected that one (one of my favorites). Though the person who asked did not say what category... :D

Here is a Cat 9A (from two ends -- the BEER is a good reference)!

Something tells me that this (Conquest class) 9A is better than those on the Dream.

    History of (Carnival) AFT-WRAPS:

1> Spirit class (Cat 11) -- best of the best (as was in my previous post)

2> Conquest class (Cat 9A) -- Above photos

    3> Dream class (Cat 9A)...

Does anyone else detect a steady deterioration in quality/quantity of aft corners over time?

With all the "improvements" being heralded with each new class... what's up with that?? !! ??

    Tom

LOL we have had 4237 on the Legend.. absolutely LUVED that cabin and balcony!!! We dont need anyone posting anymore threads and complaining that they didnt get that big of a balcony when they book a 9A:rolleyes:

We have had aft wraps on Conquest (deck 7) Freedom (deck 7) Destiny (deck 6) preferred the Destiny because of the couch.. we will have another wrap on the Triumph in Dec (deck 6) cant wait.. and then on the Splendor in April (deck 8).. not fussy with that one tho from the pics I have seen the over hang and divider are the solid ones.. but oh well we will see;)

  9. I tried to lighten up the picture so that you could see the cabin better, don't know if this helps you. Linda

    ShipPhotoCARNIVALDREAM111.jpg?t=1254021208

From this pic you can clearly see it is a true aft .. which I posted earlier most of the wrap is on the side.. the middle light shows the partition.. it is a plexiglass partition as it is one that opens between balconies and is not the full metal/steel or the pure white ones you see clearly..

  10. What are the shops/restaurants/buffet/activities that are open 24-hours a day on the cruise? Are the pools, spa and fitness centre open 24/7?

    Thanks.

24 hr pizza.. 24 hr room service.. aft bar is usually open until 4am .. Casino very late not sure if it closes at 4am or earlier.. I am sure a casino goer will be able to answer that.. Pools as answered earlier NO.. spa and fitness centre I would think not.. but again I am sure someone who uses those facilities all the time will know;)

  11. Coming in early Saturday for a cruise on Sunday. We would like to go to the Hard Rock Casino Saturday. What hotel do you recommend for Saturday night? The Hard Rock will not do a Saturday arrival. We will be renting a car from the airport for 1 day.

Not sure when you are going.. but our group is splitting between 2 hotels.. HIEX Rocky Point.. and the HOJO Downtown.. they both offer free shuttles.. I think the HIEX has a cruise package not sure tho..

  12. Our son and his new wife will be flying into Orlando, in June. and will be cruising on the Legend out of Tampa. I haven't read your thread, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a limo service, that would pick them up at the Orlando airport and take them to Tampa, one way? I was hoping to find someone who perhaps had done this and had a recommentation.

    Thanks

Congrats to the newlyweds!! You may get some answers here.. but another area you can check and ask.. is the Florida boards...;)

  13. Hi.. thanks to Ken and all the others for the great info..:)

Just a question.. was wondering if anyone has stayed at the HOJO downtown recently.. and have any input on it? We are booked there for October.. and just would like to hear some comments if there are any.. Thanks.

  14. Maybe a basic question for experienced cruisers, but does "anytime dining" mean just that - ie) it doesn't matter what time you dine? You don't have to worry about advance choice of early or late timing? I'm booked on the Legend in November with 8 others - from your experience would a small group like this need to reserve a table?

    Any advice appreciated.

    coolcanuck

Anytime dining as per Carnivals website is between 5:30 - 9:30pm.. It hasn't been implemented on the Legend yet.. so it is hard to say if other ship experiences will be the same.. I have read reviews from ships that do this and .. some had to wait up to 45 mins.. others just walked right in;)

ETA: this is part of an email a fellow CCer received from their PVP..

Starting on June 29th the Carnival Legend will now allow for more dining options with open seating in the main dining room in addition to the traditional 6 pm and 8:15 pm seating. Guests will be able to either visit the dining room anytime between 5:30 and 9:30 pm to enjoy our dinner menu or request one of two assigned seating times. Reservations are not required for open seating, however, you may call ahead each day from your stateroom to request specific times for that night.

Should you be interested in changing your request for assigned dining to open seating please call 1-800-CARNIVAL anytime up to two weeks prior to your sailing. Additionally, guests will be able to switch from assigned to open seating once onboard by contacting the Maitre'd the day of sailing. If you do not wish to switch to open seating and would like to keep your current dining time no action is necessary.

  15. Just wondering about the quality of the food on the Legend. Any recommendations? Is there a lobster night? :)

We never had any issues with the food on the Legend.. I believe Lobster is served the 1st formal night.. If you order something and you do not like order something else.. the servers will be happy to bring it to you... also.. try the supper club ..

  16. Hi,

Just booked onto the Legend for 6/1...question:

Do they have a specialty restaurant as some of the other ships do? And, I do realize that it's usually a $30 pp fee--but once you pay that, is it unlimited entrees, as it is in the main dining room?

These FOOD questions, of course, are from my SONS, the Almighty Eating Machines.....!

    thanks,

    laurie

Yes the restaurant is the Golden Fleece.. it is 30pp.. and no it is not unlimited like the dining room.. but believe me there is more than enough food.. they won't be leaving there hungry;)

  17. I just called the hotel Ms. Kelly, and was told there is a bar about 3 blocks away, that has a package store, called a hub store and they sell bottles. Otherwise this is downtown and its a business area, no shopping for designer clothes for you...lol. :D

Will need to take the shuttle provided, or cab to hit the clubs and or bars in Ybor city or channelside which are two miles away...

    Linda

Well thank you Ms. Linda :p Maybe the shuttle from the airport will stop somewhere to pick up stuff on the way there:D
