We're Elite and we never go to the Elite breakfast.

We like it. We are not big breakfast eaters. Fruit and a bagel is fine.

Don't like MDR because a lot times it's sooo slow. Oveanview can get zooie during breakfast.

I just love sitting by those Tuscan back windows enjoying the sea with a specialty coffee. Nice and relaxing.

    TAs are a different animal

I was on the Solstice for a 10 day Vancouver to Honolulu cruise this past September. They had a decent crowd in the Sky Lounge. All the seats along the windows were full. I did not ask the Captain's Club Hostess how many Elites or higher were onboard so from my observations on who showed for Elite Breakfast it probably was not a lot.

So  many have drink packages.  It seems the Elite lounge is much emptier than it used to be.  At least that's our recent experience.  Does a bottle of water count against the three drink limit?

On our a last Spring Reflection TA, if you did not get to the Sky Lounge by 5 pm for HH you did not get a seat. Same was with the Ensemble Lounge during that time period.

  4. On a recent 10 day Solstice Vancouver-Honolulu cruise I sat most nights 5-7, the Elite Cocktail period, at an area of the Ensemble Lounge by the Murano entrance. Observing the folks going in for dinner, very few had suits of even sports jackets. It was very casual.

  5. I am having trouble with the signatures with this new website, specifically the countdown clocks.

I have one I just completed, one I cancelled & one I just booked on the recent cruise.

I like the countdown clocks because they give me idea when final payment is, when to do express pass, when to make plane reservations, etc..  I usually delete the clock as soon as I complete that cruise.

Any suggestions on adding and deleting a clock would be appreciated?

  6. For the last 5 or 6 years we taken 5 trans-Atlantic and numerous reposition cruises (that usually have a lot of sea days). Have shied away from the Caribbean itineraries.

I'm a history/natural science buff so I really enjoy the lectures. Some are better then others but for the most part they are pretty good with some being outstanding. So a lot time in the theater and Celebrity Central.

Try to get into the gym early AM and that is where I usually shower.

Always have a good book, like to read on the balcony on nice days but if it's too windy or cold I'll be in the Solarium.

Usually make it to the Elite Cocktail Hours up in the Skyview, enjoy meeting fellow cruisers. Harder sometimes on shore days-either fatigued or get back too late.

So we enjoy the sea days and rarely bored.

  7. I did not think it looked bad. I been on behind the scene tours on several cruise lines and they always left that out.

My son was a college dormitory resident assistant (a hall monitor) a few years ago at a large SEC university. I recall crashing in his dorm room to catch a football game and the hall had a shared large shower room for the whole floor (maybe 40 male freshmen and sophomores). Did not change much from when I went to college a long time ago :)

  8. After reading the article I was surprised though relieved that the ABCs were not mentioned as we too are cruising there in October.

Aruba is awfully close at roughly 20 miles away.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Your right, only 19 miles and on clear day you can Venezuela. Just returned from Aruba after 2 weeks and I saw no concern for this.

To ease folks minds, Dutch Marines are stationed at both Aruba and Curacao.

  9. The Enterprise location you are looking at is in Kahului. Your ship will be tendering into Lahaina, which is on the other side of the island. You will need to check for rental car information in Lahaina. As far as we can tell by checking Lahaina cruise ship schedules, there will not be any other ships there that day.

Thank you Silver Sweethearts. You are right, we will be putting into port at Lahaina. I checked with Enterprise website and the have locations at Kapalua West Maui Airport (about 7 miles away-12 minute drive) & on Kaanapali Pkwy. The Kaanapali Pkwy location is only open till noon on Sunday but the airport location opened till 430p, so that will work. I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do on picking us up (Enterprise does this, at least my experience here on the mainland).

Have a question Silver Sweethearts, seeing your from Maui? Having car from 10 to 330 on a Sunday, what highlights would you suggest? Thanks Alan aka Banjo

  10.

This looked like a real good option for us. We will be on the Celebrity Solstice and planning to rent a car for a day for Sunday-Sept. 30th. When I checked the website I noticed they only open till noon on Saturday & Sunday.

The airport locations are open late. I noticed reading they have a shuttle from the port to the airport. Airport does not look far from the port, has anyone ever just uber over to the airport and return to the ship via uber after dropping it off? Do they have uber in Maui?

  11. When I cruise on both the Celebrity S & M class ships I bring my old S9 Resmed CPAP. The cord from that machine makes it from the coffee table, which I move it by the bed, to the desk outlets. In the morning after waking I stick the CPAP in a bag (similar to those celebrity bags only little larger) in the corner by the curtain so it's out of the way.

  12. I'm all for having the machine. I'm not big on coke but the other products in the machine I do like. The different flavored Vitamin Waters and other no carbonated products I really enjoy .Also just convenience of getting up getting it makes it worthwhile.

This would be an improvement not to mention eco friendly.

Any word when the will be installed on the ships?

  13. Seems they can cruise on Norwegian if Celebrity rules do not fit their family plans...it's not a political problem!

We cruised out New Orleans with our 19 year old son about 7 years ago on NCL for Western Caribbean cruise, I recall signing a waiver which allowed him to purchase alcohol. His birthday was yesterday and he just turned 27.

BTW, when I was growing up in New York it was 18 but that was awhile ago

  14. Most the time I book with Future Cruises on the ship to take advantage of any promos being offered. During the booking process I tell them I want the reservation to go to my Big Box travel agency. It's done during the reservation process by the Future Cruise agent. I always had the impression they don't care and still get credit (if they do get credit for the reservation). Also from the Big Box I get 2% because of my membership status and 4% off from using the Big Box credit card.

    Kind of a no brainer.
