OMG!  It appears the ambience is worse now than many years ago.  It used to be a destination for genteel Cruisers, not now.

wow, that's really interesting.  I would love to see pictures how it used to be. Sounds even better.  We found it really nice there.  The ambience was very welcoming.  Everyone was friendly and polite.  We have always had a nice relaxing time.  We have never run into any rude cruisers but it could have been the ships we were visiting with.

Hello everyone, does anyone have any other insight or intel regarding Carambola beach? For example how is the beach, the location, amenities, the water, etc. Basically, just want to know if it's worth booking an excursion to Carambola beach. Thanks in advance.

We gone there 3 times now.   We didn't do a cruise excursion though. We just went on our own so I'm not sure about if you have better pricing through the ship.  We liked being able to stay and leave when we wanted too.   It was $30 for 2 chairs and an umbrella, that included wifi.

We got a taxi from the port.  They are regulated and I think it cost us $25 for 3 of us.  We arranged for him to come back at a certain time for us. It wasn't a long ride...maybe 15/20 minutes??

They had a bar & restaurant there.  There was no minimum or anything for food.  We didn't eat this last time but ordered drinks. I attached the menu.  Nice restrooms and showers for use.

The beach was nice.  It had a slight incline when we were there.  There are 2 other little small beach bars that you can walk to...shipwreck beach and discovery beach.  We would definitely go back again.  Check on what ships will be in port with you that day.

  3. Thanks for sharing your Nevis trip.  It looks nice there.  That's probably the best way to go, doing an excursion down there.  I would be afraid of getting back in time if on my own.

We were on the same beach at St. Martin. We took the taxi over.   We rented next door at the Holland House.  I zoomed in and found myself in one of your pictures...lol  I didn't realize about the 3 streets of shopping behind.

  4. Such nice pictures!  Antigua is definitely one of my top favorites.  We were on the same beach but on the other end by Ana's.  There was a jetty that you could walk out on. We had chairs right there.  We never got to walk down to your side.  There was a old time red phone booth on the beach there.  I'm not sure if you saw that or not.  My SIL walked down to it and got some neat pictures.

I will have to keep that in mind. Add to my notes as an idea for future visits. Funny name. It must have something to do with the town name. Lol! I checked it out on Trip Advisor and the ratings are good. On a normal calm day the beach would probably be great too. Though it looks like you might require water shoes there. I did a crop to show 'The Fred'.

Yes you would need water shoes.  Here are some pictures that you can kind of see the beach

The town houses in this photo are  "The Projects' - community housing. As our tour guide said 'Where in the world can you find community housing like that? - a view of the water and a beach.

That's interesting.  We walked down past there.  At first I thought it was a school but as we walked on I couldn't figure it out.   We ended walking back and stopping at The Fred.  It's the white building in the bottom left of your picture.

    1. does anybody actually WANT the stuff in the mini-fridge - at the prices they charge?

    2. we're going on Silhouette next month. Can I request an empty fridge for the whole trip, in advance?

We just got off Silhouette last week.  Like someone else said, you can't ask for in advance but our steward had no issue removing when we saw him on the first day.  He put everything in a bag under the bed.
