  1. I’m so sorry you’ve had all that trouble. Safe travels🛳️
  2. I totally agree you shouldn’t wear that mask again! Hopefully your leg healed quickly. Instead, find one that’s a better fit & won’t fog up all the time or block your view.
  3. Robin, my boarding pass was in that same e-mail even though I haven’t checked or done photo!!
  4. Yes, unless your TA has offered them or your status is high enough for them to be included.
  5. I took a culinary class on Vista last month & really enjoyed it. There were several classes offered, all geared around the areas we were in. Mine was Greek recipes, cooking different mezes, salad & desserts plus ouzo & wine. Chef was very engaging. I try to do at least one class when aboard.
  6. Just returned from Athens. We used George’s Taxi for a Cape Sounios tour. Longer than 4 hours, but they offer many tours & I’m sure would be able to work out something you’d love. They’re highly recommended & I found them from many recommendations here on CC. Have a great time!
  7. I certainly hope this is not the case with my 7/25 Seward to Vancouver cruise! I’ve already booked train from Anchorage for my group of 7, along with 1 night hotel in Seward so we’re able to see the town & likely do a Kenai Fjords excursion before boarding. My 1st Regent cruise & feel for the people blindsided by this change.
  8. I was on Vista for her Istanbul to Athens cruise in August & had no issues with noise in my deck 8 concierge cabin. I could occasionally hear neighbors to the left, but no more than on other ships. Definitely did not interfere in sleep. Don’t know if just lucky or if the noise issue is not the big deal it’s reported to be.
  9. The rate is lower if any part of your trip is purchased through them, even if just a hotel or car rental. Either way it can be a significant savings, underwritten by Zurich.
  10. I was just in 8120 with extended balcony, A1, & room steward placed lounger after I requested. Plenty of room for that plus the 2 chairs & table. Veranda below me on 7 was even deeper, though penthouse.
  11. As always, depends on personal preference. Malt powder adds some richness & depth to the flavor & is my choice. Try both a shake & malt side-by-side & find your favorite.
  12. Exactly why I posted my experience to emphasize the importance of looking at excursion time on the tickets. I’m having a wonderful cruise & certainly not letting a couple hiccups get in the way of my enjoyment. Thanks for seconding the need for due diligence.
  13. Here’s the page from excursion booklet in cabin-no times listed.
  14. I did review those, but time of excursion is not listed, just date & cost.
  15. We’ve all seen posts about checking your excursion tickets as soon as you board. (Which I did after going down to Reception to get my tickets that hadn’t been put in my cabin.) Make sure you double check the time as well as the name. We had chosen the afternoon for an excursion that had 2 times offered. When we received Currents the evening prior I noticed the afternoon time wasn’t listed. Looked at my reprinted tickets again & saw the morning time! Thinking I may have lost my mind, I checked the O listing of my excursions I’d printed out the day before we left & it did have the afternoon time! So, I didn’t lose my mind, but O dropped the ball by not notifying me of the time change. No e-mail, no note, nada. I wonder how many people may have missed the boat, so to speak 🛳️
  16. We’ve enjoyed both of our O excursions-Cruise on the Bosphorus for our Istanbul overnight & Olympia & Zorba event today in Katakolon. It was fun seeing the original Olympic stadium & the place where the torch is lighted. Weather is hot of course, but not oppressively so, low 90’s F & shade can be quite pleasant with a breeze. We planned a small private boat from Skala in Santorini through Santorini View & had a wonderful 5 hours with swimming & a lunch on one of the islands. People returning from cable car said line took up to 1 hour. One of our trivia team members felt she had mild heat stroke. We’ve enjoyed the food. Have had 2 dinners in Red Ginger, 1in Toscana & Polo tonight. Ate in Grand Dining Room last night & didn’t feel service was slow, but bothered that multiple servers kept asking us if we liked our meal at nearly 2 minute intervals! (We lost count). We signed up for Champagne sampling tonight & wine-pairing lunch in 2 days. Corfu Catamaran O tour tomorrow!
  17. @Yorkshirewanderers- I’m so sorry you’ve had these issues, but glad they’re not ruining your enjoyment of this wonderful cruise. I hope they identify the thief & use the plank to offload them.
  18. I haven’t felt much of anything, though it’s not completely aft where you’d be more likely to notice. OTOH, I’m happy being as far aft as I can get. June will be here before you know it!
  19. Will do. And thanks for all your wonderful posts Lorimay!!
  20. Yes, towards Vista’s aft the decks jut out & 8120 is at the beginning of that, so glass wall on forward facing side as well as standard glass wall.
  21. Boarding yesterday was smooth & relatively quick, just long distances to walk through Galataport. While standing in line I struck up conversation with a gentleman from England, who turned out to be Yorkshirewanderers-Nick & his lovely wife Liz! Was able to get another reservation for Red Ginger for 1st night. Food, of course, was absolutely fantastic, with shared sushi plate, watermelon duck salad, tempura soft shell crab & yuzu sorbet for dessert. We scheduled a wine tasting for $60 & wine lunch for $160 with our sommelier. There were no envelopes with excursion or culinary center tickets in cabin. When I spoke with Reception they blamed Housekeeping but printed out all the tickets. Our room steward, Luka, said Reception makes many mistakes & puts the blame on them. Either way, I’ve got my ticket for the Bosphorus cruise today 😆. I’m in 8120, a cabin with extended balcony & 2-sided glass fencing facing forward. So far very quiet. Luka was able to put a lounger on the veranda, keeping our 2 chairs & table & still have plenty of space. so far, so great………
  22. @Yorkshirewanderers-I hope to meet you once on Vista. I love your area of England. Interesting that we’ve found food prices quite reasonable, sometimes quite a bit less than California. Of course, their inflation is extremely high & this is our 1st time here, so prices are bad compared to what you’ve previously experienced. Today our guide took us to Suleman Mosque. We saw an O tour group arrive as we were leaving; someone complaining the guide needed to speak up 😆. We then wandered down through Spice Bazaar, then took a ferry to Kadikoy for a food tour. All in all a great way to start & hope the rest exceeds our expectations like this. On board tomorrow!!
  23. Greetings Yorkshirewanderers! We’re also boarding Friday, arrived Tues evening & also staying in the same area at Hotel DeCamondo Galata House, a wonderful Marriott Boutique hotel. I was worried about my transfer through LHR, but took “only” 40 minutes from landing at T3 to get through security at T5. Fast track definitely helped & I actually had time to stop in the BA lounge. We toured Sultanamet area yesterday with Ozge Okumus, a guide arranged through Viator, & will see more today, including a bit of a food tour on Asian side. She also freelances & I would highly recommend her. Looking forward to Friday but trip is off to a great start!
  24. In this case, just like parents of unruly kids, it was the wife’s fault. I canceled a SP cruise I’d planned for over 2 years because my husband’s Alzheimer’s had progressed quickly. (He was 68). Sounds like she shouldn’t have booked in 1st place & never should have allowed him out of her sight.
  25. Unfortunately that’s not uncommon here at home. People unconsciously speak louder on any phone & more so if on speaker, which means the other side of conversation is also very audible. Wonder if related to people forgetting how to behave in public following pandemic isolation.
