Hi cheznandy.
Great to see you guys are having so much fun on the majestic. Love princess. We have good friends from Hollywell, qld on your cruise. Apparently the majestic docks at the grain wharf on Thursday, can you please tell me what time it disembarks?????.
Will be cruising out on pacific aria out of brissie at 2pm Thursday. Will we see the majestic as we cruise out of Brisbane river????.
Regards bob.:)
Looks like you'll get a good view of Majestic as you go past - according to the Port Schedule she isn't due to leave until 6pm

$660 suite? that's pretty good value ;);plol Time to go shopping I think. 6 years is pretty good - no women's clothes last that long

I would be hoping there would be more winter cruises out of Brisbane heading north once the new terminal opens.

Very easy to get your moneys worth on a drinks package when you have a coffee, and a few drinks each day. Even bottled water you have to pay for. Check to see what brand of your drinks is on which package too. Very hard to find aussie brands in a drinks menu here, but I remember drinking Bundy on the classic package. My hubby had to have Tooheys New as his favourite - Tooheys Extra Dry was only on the Premium package.

I'm thinking about doing the Kart Safaris for something different when I go there next year. It's one of the 10 Best Things to do in Vava'u on Tripadvisor.

I can see my workplace in one of those photos...

By direct access do you mean shuttle buses and such?
The cruise terminal will be at Luggage Point (I really hope they keep that name) which almost adjoins the southern boundary of the airport.
Unfortunately, the airport terminals are on the north side of the airport and the runways are between them and the new cruise terminal. So we will have to drive around the airport the long way to go from one to the other. I'd guess a distance of about 10 km. As the crow (or 747) flies they are about 1-2 km apart.
There is a 303 bus from Doomben station to Myrtletown, which will get you to within about 500 metres of Luggage Point.
You would think it would be easy to run that bus to the new terminal.
"Luggage Point" is an appropriate name for a cruise terminal - but don't know if I can get past that name - it just means sewerage treatment plant for me lol

P&O never seem to be cheap in QLD for anything other than an inside. If you stay in a balcony or above and buy a drink package, they end up being dearer then the other lines.

I'm booked on this one too and have started researching the ports also. Realised if I want to use local currencies at all ports, I need 5 different ones :o
Have you joined the roll call?

There is some interesting documents on the ACCC website.
One of the submissions (Jan 2018) has before and after photos showing that the construction, or preparation of the site, is underway.
Apparently I don't listen to my hubby coz he told me he delivered cement there last week. oops. Vaguely remember him saying something about the stink...Will be great to have some competition here finally when it's finished - would have preferred RC (was hoping Radiance would home port here) but it will end P&O monopoly :)
-
So much for it being ready by end of 2019 like the Premier announced...My hubby has been doing some work on Kingsford Smith Drive and said there's no way any more construction can happen in that area until that project is finished which is months away.

That's surprising about measuring the drinks. No one measured the drinks on Solstice when I was on her a year ago - they were all very generous with the free pouring. Hope it's not something new.
Why is Solstice sitting in the harbour now - was that planned?

The Love Boat is in Sydney on Valentines Day :D:D
Love, exciting and new.. Come aboard, we're expecting you.......

Terrible times to be there really. There's some nice restaurants at Anse Vata and Lemon Bay that are open Sunday nights. If it was me, I would go to the park close by for the free wifi, grab some snacks from the grocery shop across the road from the terminal and some souvenirs at the terminal and head back to the ship for a drink or two :D.
-
We've booked CBD Viaduct for next year -looks like it's within walking distance from the terminal. Booked it for the location and that we don't have to prepay. Close to restaurants, just hope it's not noisy on a weekend.
-
I got excited when I saw the subject- thought the Lawn Club Grill was coming to Solstice. What a shame it isn't. I have seen the show and it was interesting but I really only needed to see it once. Each to their own but I thought it was a waste of valuable space. Now if you have to pay to go there, I'll be avoiding the area entirely- and go straight to the sunset bar instead :D

Sorry, no vaccinations available against snakes, sharks, crocodiles, spiders or the dreaded dropbears! ;p;):D
Enjoy your cruise:)

I usually try to give new posters the benefit of the doubt. But when all of their posts are negative , I begin to wonder if they are just negative people and can't be pleased. If he approached the ship staff with the same attitude he's shown here, I'm thinking he got back a little of what he was dishing out. Not a professional response, perhaps, but understandable if faced by a belligerent guest.
I'm also thinking he is brand new to cruising, otherwise he would have known to go to the MDR as soon as he boarded to try to adjust his dining arrangements and double check the celebration arrangements.. As for the birthday celebration that wasn't- he still hasn't clarified whether or not he paid in advance or if this was something the TA was going to do as a customer gift. If it was the former , then he has a legitimate beef, and should have his TA secure a refund. If the TA promised something and then didn't follow through, then the OP can take it out on him.
I suggest in future that the OP do a bit more research in advance of booking any cruise, and find a TA that is more responsive to his needs. Perhaps a luxury line would be able to meet his expectations, but I doubt it.
Ditto to this

Very hot and humid day here in Brisbane today - stay on the ship with the air conditioning! ..lol Hope you have a great day here once you get past the terrible port area and having to pay to get back to civilisation.

There isn't anything wrong with the edit signature function. Noone said there was. Its the countdown clock that doesn't work.- for some at least.
-
Didn't hear about the drug bust on Radiance today but did read instead about some poor person that had to be taken off the ship - I think it was because of a heart attack - before the cruise even started.
-
If you're trying to change your countdown clock, it may not work. There's a known glitch in the system somewhere. I haven't been able to change mine for a while.

Yep, lots of good pics and info on there (wish she would stop calling it a boat though lol)
entitled to a refund??
