  1. My partner and I have over $300 obc on our upcoming cruise and we don’t want to “waste” it on an excursion we can buy with our own money for half the price. On a previous cruise they had apple products, and I really want the new apple airpods which retail for $159 plus tax in the states.

My question is, do I wait until I board to see if the airpods I want are on board and book the excursion then or should I book the excursion with our cruise credit in case it will be full by the time I find out what the deal is.

EDIT: We are on the Getaway 7 day Western Carib. in May 2018.

  2. Thank you everyone for the replies, I REALLY appreciate it as I basically picked the floor and room type for our group of 13 and don’t want anyone to have a bad trip based on room location!

Sounds like Splash Academy rooms on deck 12 are hit or miss and can be very loud, but that deck 13 should be fine in terms of no noise.

  3. Hello everyone, I tried searching for this but could only find info regarding the Splash Academy itself.

I was recently moved from a mini-suite on deck 10 to one on deck 13, however the new location of the room is directly across from the "Splash Academy". After some rudimentary research, I learned that this is the children's and teen center. I am now worried since checking the hours that it is open all day long including a special program open until 1:30 AM. I love children don't get me wrong, but I don't go on vacation to hear loud children crying and teens running up and down the hallway.

Should I try to get a new location or does NCL do a good job at keeping all the noise inside the actual "academy"?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. As long as they’re well behaved and won’t cause damage to the room or make a ton of noise, I don’t see a problem with going down to their room at bed time and saying goodnight and telling them not to leave the room. Obviously allow them access to the TV (maybe put on child protection if you don’t fully trust them) and to room service, but I don’t see what could really go so wrong that they couldn’t handle themselves or call you or guest relations if they needed something. Additionally, I think as a vacation you and your adult partner deserve some time alone without the kids.

Are they 2 girls, boy and girl, or 2 boys? May make a difference in the trouble they can get into, haha.

Disclaimer: I don’t have kids of my own (yet).

  5. So I was traveling with a group of 8 for an upcoming Getaway 7 night cruise, but now another person decided to come and will be staying alone in a studio. The issue is that we made reservations almost every night (3 in specialty restaurants and 3 in MDR's) for 8 people, but now we actually have 9.

Additionally, if we were to go modify the reservations, there isn't even an option for 9, only 8 at most places and one of the MDR's 10.

What do we do? We obviously want to eat at the specialty dining restaurants we booked (as we have the 3-night dining perk added to all our rooms) and don't want to have to break into smaller groups.

  6. Can't comment on the West End, but I have been to Roatan 3 times. It isn't bad. It's WAY better than Falmouth (or anywhere in Jamaica) or Costa Maya, Mexico, in my opinion. One time we went to a small island spa (since closed, I believe, this was about 10 years ago), recently we went to Little French Key (enjoyable), and once a while ago we got off and just walked around (which I do not recommend.)

Hope you reconsider and find something fun to do!

We are very open to this port, thank you for your input. Our ports include Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatan, and Harvest Caye.

The reason we were planning on staying onboard the ship in Roatan was that I was told that there are people begging and that there are emaciated children and dogs everywhere. Now that I'm hearing from honest cruisers that it may be one of the best ports on our itinerary we will be looking into snorkeling spots.
