  1. Have fun and bring your sense of adventure. When things go wrong- and they will- remember that those will become some of your funniest memories.

Such a true statement! One of my best memories is our first - and only - camping trip with my step-children. Twenty years later and they still laugh about how awful it was!

Another great story is when hubby and I went to Estes Park, CO on vacation and decided to take stuff with us to make our own meals. We forgot half of it packed up at home. I blamed him, he blamed me. We laugh about it now!

  2.

The room always smelled great and she mentioned she just wanted to go lay in my room because it was like a spa. Also, all of my friends go that cold/bronchial cough thing, and I never got sick in the 33 days.

What is your favorite EO diffuser blend?

I have a USB diffuser I was considering bringing just to have that calming, spa-like scent in the cabin that I'm used to at home.

  3. Internal theft by dishonest employees is a big issue and happens everywhere.

I think most places would agree that their biggest issue with theft IS internal!

I used to work loss prevention at a very high end store. While there was the occasional shoplifting and "grab and runs", most of our time was spent on setting up cameras in stock rooms and over cash registers to catch employees that were stealing from the company. It was 50/50 between the entry level positions (maintenance, sales associates, receiving, etc) and management.

Even non-retail employers deal with theft of office supplies and paper goods. Pens, copy paper, paper clips and sticky notes are the usual items employee take for home use. And more often than not, these employees don't see it as theft. :(

  4. The only time I noticed a smell was when we had many sea days in a row (due to missed port days) and they didn't have a chance to empty it out I assume. Once we were back at port it went away. The smell was only noticeable if the lid was left open, which we tried to avoid...and it was only noticeable in the bathroom. It was not overwhelming like a bus/airplane bathroom (ick)

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

That's good to know. Bought some hanging air fresheners to bring instead, just in case. Just not a fan of musty/moist smell, as well as the usual bathroom smells. :)

  5. This is probably a strange question but are the toilets in the staterooms like normal toilets? Do they have water sitting in the bowl? Or are they like RV toilets where there is only a little bit of water in the bowl and more water runs through it when flushed?

Usually when we travel I bring essential oil to drip into the bowl for combating odors but this doesn't work in RV like toilets.

  6. I'm not a fan of any form of instant tea.

Most people aren't which is why I don't consider myself a "tea snob". :D

I grew up on Nestea Instant and still drink it daily. I don't like Lipton Instant but I do like Lipton bagged tea for brewing as long as it isn't brewed or stored in a plastic dispenser. It pick up the taste of stale plastic if made that way.

My preferred hot tea is that which is brewed as loose leaf tea.

But I still don't consider myself a "snob", just picky. Others can drink whatever they like, and I'll stick with what I like. :)

  7. We were in 6489. The cabin was wonderful- absolutely no complaints!

Cabin door stays open on it's own- I've seen people posting about packing a bungee but no need for that.

I could smell a slight odor in the bathroom when we got there, but we kept the toilet lid closed and brought one of those Christmas tree shaped car scents and didn't notice it again.

A couple of things we brought that were helpful was a power strip. I only saw one outlet on the vanity. and a battery operated candle to have some light for a mid night bathroom trip and it set a nice glow to the room.

One hint...the hair dryer is located in this thin drawer in the vanity area. I went to dinner with wet hair one night because I looked around the bathroom, in the closets and even in the bigger drawers and didn't find it. Realized it was in that little drawer when were packing up and checking to make sure we had gotten everything.

    Great! Thanks for the info!

  8. What would be some good options for a group of 9 at night in cozumel? It will be four adults and five teenagers.

If your tastes run to more traditional Mexican then I would recommend El Moro. It's waaaaay back inland but a taxi van might be able to get everyone there in one vehicle.

Another nice place with good food is Casa Mission. You'd need a taxi van here too but the building and grounds are beautiful.

If Italian is more your style, we like Guido's and Rolandi's. A little more expensive but well worth it. Rolandi's has tables right near the water and makes for the most beautiful of settings!

If you're in port on a Friday or Saturday and don't mind more expense, I've heard Bucanno's At Night is beautiful as well but we've never been there...yet.

  9. We are thrilled at the prospect of an overnight in Cozumel. We found it it humerous that people canceled because Progresso was dropped. Heck, we were just on the Liberty in late September and decided not to get off in Progresso. Dinner in Cozumel sounds great!

When I first read about the change to an overnight in Cozumel I thought to myself "wow, that would be a great option!" We've never cruised before (our first is in 20 days to the Bahamas on the Valor right before her last PC voyage) but we spend a week on Coz each year and love it! Always felt sorry for the cruisers that only get to spend a day there since many of our favorite places to eat are beautiful at night!

  10. Seriously? Why would you not accept the offer of a 15% credit as the company showing you some goodwill?

A large percentage of people that complain are just looking for a hand-out. If you are really serious about only wanting an apology or making sure the same thing doesn't happen again or to someone else, declining any compensation speaks volumes. Accepting compensation just tells the company that you're like the majority looking for a hand out.

I've declined several offers of compensation in my lifetime. I've also accepted offers of compensation when I had expenses that I insurred due to a companies inefficiencies.

  11. They also offered us 15% off our next cruise, which is not what I was after...and they did offer a formal apology too, which I graciously accepted.

I certainly hope you responded to their 15% off offer with "thank you but that is not what I was after. I wanted a formal apology which is what I now have. I appreciate the 15% offer but respectfully decline."

  12.

And the reason to bring wine is that they don't carry some of the wines we like to drink. And the ones that they do they charge $30 per bottle, for something I can get under $10 on shore. Plus, we have it in our room at our disposal rather than having to go to a bar. And at the end of the trip, its not coming home, so lightens the load.

No kidding on the upcharge on wine! I'd really like to surprise hubby with the Anniversary Toast Package but I'm finding it difficult to shell out the $80 (of which $40 would be for the bubbly that I priced locally at $11). Bringing it with isn't really an option for us as we have to fly in the night before. Packing bottles in checked baggage is a huge hassle.
