Couple of things The B.B. King bands are now only on the three newest ships; Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam VII. The four Vista (Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Noordam) and two Signature-class ships (Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam) now have the Rolling Stone Rock band. We were on Eurodam about a month ago (San Diego to Vancouver, BC) and enjoyed the RS Rock band (2 female vocalists, one male vocalist/guitarist, a bass guitarist, a solo guitar, keyboard player, and drummer - no horns unlike the BB's) They played a good variety in their 3 nightly sets (one dark night) and had a lots of people on the dance floor in what they now call the Rolling Stone Lounge. BBC Earth used to have the Lincoln Center Stage classical musicians playing alongside the awesome footage. Since Lincoln Center Stage left the dam ships, there have been no more BBC Earth showings as far as I know

A pirate walked into a bar and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened? You look terrible!" "What do you mean?" said the pirate, "I feel fine.'" Bartender, "What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before." Pirate, "Well, we were in a battle and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I'm fine now." Bartender, "Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?" Pirate, "We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook. I'm fine, really." Bartender, "What about that eye patch?" Pirate, "Oh, one day we were at sea and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up and one of them crapped in my eye." "You're kidding," said the bartender, "you lost an eye just from bird crap?" Pirate, "It was my first day with me hook!"- 117 replies

Usually what you'll find in the ship's shops as far as ship models are these ceramic ones made by Dutch company Royal Goedewagen, the same company who makes the tiles and plates. Not sure if they have one out yet for Rotterdam VII. There are no discounts 🙃

For the non-Dutch speakers, "'t Lekkende Azipodje" (meaning "the little leaking azipod" in English) was the name of Amsterdam's "O.B." (Officers Bar) down on A-Deck. Always a popular location at night for those with officer status to unwind, play a round, or two or six, of darts, listen/dance to tunes (it had its own jukebox), have a cold cerveza or something stronger (it had its own assigned bartender with a 0200 hrs. closing time), "shoot the bull", and/or just relax off-shift. The supervisors had their own bar next door known as the "P.O." (Petty Officers) Bar (lots of Karaoke in there at night) and the ratings had the Crew Mess.

Thanks for the update. I knew that Christel had been staying home to take care of her mum in recent years. Didn't know she was also now retired. Good for her! Enjoyed working with both of them! I remember both her and Henk on that tandem bicycle everywhere in the world going for a spin. Me thinks it's going to be hard for Henk to give up the GWV but I'm sure that day is coming Friso was my boss as staff captain / Head of the Nautical/Deck Dept. on Amsterdam for a couple of contracts before he got his promotion

What did that drive home take you, all of eight minutes? or did you swim across the turning basin and entrance channel? 🤪

Yeah; we saw it Benny! Better team won, although Vancouver made it interesting late in the 3rd! Dallas-Edmonton should be a good series but I'm rooting for a Rangers-Stars final. You must be a Calgary Flames fan 😉 -
