This is EXACTLY the problem.  The casino has become the de facto smoking lounge.  I have seen ship officers hanging out at the casino bar for hours smoking and not gambling.  How hard can the rule that you must be gambling to be smoking?

Because Royal has decreed it as such. As stated earlier, it's on the ship map that it is a smoking area. Quite often I stop by for 5 min after dinner to have a quick smoke and will continue to do so.

The current protocol is:   "All guests, ages two and above, are required to wear masks at all times when indoors, except when eating or drinking or when in their own staterooms and when outdoors if in large gatherings and physical distancing cannot be maintained. "

For those who have already cruised with the mask protocol, how did you carry your mask around the ship?  At home I usually have on clothes with pockets or a purse to stow the mask.  Much of the clothing I wear on a cruise does not have a pocket.  I prefer not to carry a purse or other bag around the ship.

What has been successful for you ( and cleanest way)  to carry/stow your masks while onboard?

    Thank you!

    Single mask, back left pocket.

Australia has the same non-smoking rules and they are number 2 in the world at per capita gambling revenue and 80% of the population gambles (Source: casino dot org). 32% of the UK population gambles. That's actual sourced data, not just blowing smoke. (US statistics are much more complex due to the wide range of restrictions from Nevada, New Jersey and New York to Hawai'i and Utah).

Australia also has only about 22 million people living in the whole country. So those skewed facts mean nothing.

I booked my cruise last November on the Glory for March 13.  I have been stalking the booking and today all the balconies sold out.  Only one suite is showing, and just a couple decks with a few insides left.  Yes, I know it is spring break, but after watching for months all of you saying you cruised at 50% or less, I was hoping for at least maybe 70%.  Nope, looks like it's going to be very full if not sold out.

I'm immunocompromised and was hoping for fewer passengers.  Guess I'll be spending a lot of time on my balcony.  I guess it's  good that is my favorite thing to do (besides eating).

Well, sad for me, but I bet Carnival is happy.

If you have cruises coming up, especially this summer, I'd start planning on plenty of company.

Stockholders are happy as well for a sold out cruise.

US Citizens do not need a visa for Western Samoa, Or the French Polynesia Islands.  Just a valid passport make sure you have 6 mos on your passport left after your visit before it expires.
Are you going on to Aust/Nz?
Are you on  the Crown with us in Nov?

Always recheck immigration a couple of months before you sail, in case it changes.

No. Not going to Oz. Going on the Crown in March (23).

    Thank you.

That's why I stopped worrying about it, it's Carnival's rule to enforce, not mine.

True. But it still isn't right and it's even worse when people flaunt knowingly breaking the rules.

Ha, you think you've seen them be mad about getting their shampoo bottle of booze confiscated... imagine if Carnival actually enforced the ticket contract on them!

"any Guest traveling with such items and/or attempting to board the Vessel with any such items, may be denied boarding or disembarked and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued."

Not worth it in my opinion.

I really wish they would enforce it. Then people would stop trying. But we all know how poor of a job Carnival does in enforcing any rule of theirs.

I don't see one issue with what you are describing. It's not negative. I don't like the ship within a ship concept. I think some enjoy it when it works in their favor but it's short sighted in the long run. The same cheerleaders will be the first ones to cry when Carnival sells this product as upgrade later on. It's how these things are done. Make the pool experience miserable, offer a paid solution and test market (havana) and then sell it as a upgrade and an expansion. It's the natural evolution. What you end up with is a multiple half-arsed products, higher prices and smaller spaces for all. It always seems like a good idea but the real question people should be asking is what are they doing about the crappy pool experience and why can't the product be fixed for everyone? Or any of the other reasons people have to want the ship within a ship, some mass market lines are doing the ship within the sip within the ship..lol. Where does low end pretend luxury end and a true higher end product begin, and what purpose does it serve? It's trickery and sly way of doing things.

And switching bands with passengers who haven't paid for the experience isn't? 🙄

    Oh, the humanity!

Just because smuggling alcohol isn't up there with the Hindenburg disaster, it's still most definitely wrong to do. And in most cases, the one that make jokes about smuggling alcohol are the ones usually doing it. 🙄

I do not consider smuggling alcohol a matter of morality. No more than when I used to take candy bars into theatres.

Having said that - I don't do it any longer (either of those two things), as it's just not worth the potential hassle to me.

    Tom

It isn't the "smuggling" of alcohol (although the term "smuggling" by itself indicates wrong doing otherwise you would use the word "taking"). It's knowingly violating the rules that you personally agreed to follow that most definitely is a morality issue. Of course, that's the problem these days. Everyone is trying to change what is considered morally acceptable to include their own immoral habits while condemning others. Maybe it helps them sleep better at night?

Wow, great news. Everyone switch to Royal, quick🤑

Most of my upcoming cruises are on Royal. Not for the bacon but for the 4 free drinks a day for being Diamond, table cloths on the table in the MDR EVERY night, and 2 cleanings a day of the cabin. Service on Carnival has dropped quite a bit in the last 4 years. Oh, and mashed potatoes being available every day. 😍

Do you think a firestick would work with the ship's wifi?

Wouldn't really matter as on the Freedom and Mardi Gras, there was no way to change the TV input to a spare HDMI port so you wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

I know Carnival allows one bottle of wine per person to be brought on. Can you put a few small plastic vodka bottles in your pocket? I don’t think they can detect. TIA.

Can you lie, cheat, and steal? Sure, and you might even be able to get away with it at the cost of your integrity. But you do you.
