🤣🤣🤣 Where have you been? It’s now illegal. I have already done it 5 times so far. Volunteer to give them the info or don’t cruise. It’s as simple and legal as that.

It's not volunteering if they cancel you cruise because you won't volunteer. And I've been in Florida, where I didn't show my vaccination card on my Carnival cruise last month so I'll still be cruising, just maybe not with Royal. It's funny how you armchair lawyers think you're so funny and how you think anyone can violate state law anytime they want with no consequences.

Figures. They’ll just have to show it at the pier and take that extra second or two. Or, not show it at all, stomp their feet and hold their breath, and be DENIED BOARDING.

    🤣

Well, that's what Morgan & Morgan and/or the State Attorney General is for. If companies don't like the laws we have in Florida they can always go and do business elsewhere.

I will have a deluxe drink package. My question is do I have to say “do not use vouchers” every time I get a drink. Our plan is using my wife’s and my vouchers for her,  understanding that I can share my vouchers. So yes, we purchased a deluxe beverage package for myself and a refreshment package for my wife.

I thought Royal went the route of other cruise lines and everyone in the same cabin 21 and over had to purchase the drink package if one wanted it?

Trying to figure out what the difference is between the 2 ships? We love cruising out of New Orleans. I think that the Glory has the Waterworks and no red frog pub am I missing anything else? Glory has interesting 6 day next year. Thanks!

None. Sister ships. Different name and different colors, everything else is the same.

You're paying 9 dollars in tips on the 50 dollar cost of the program (I know those number are not exact to the cent this is a rough amount). So you're paying 90 cents per drink on ten drinks, or 60 cent per drink on fifteen. Roughly my drinks are around 11 dollars a glass, times 20 percent which is what I tip on land and without the program that's 22 dollars over a day of 10 drinks. So, by your method I'm actually cutting the server out of 13 dollars of normal tipping giving them far less than half.

Just to be clear here, it is not MY method. It is Carnival's method and I, and you, are tipping 18% on every drink you get if you get all 15 drinks each and every day. You are not paying $11 a drink, you are paying about $4 a drink. You are tipping more than 18% if you don't drink all 15 drinks in a day because you have already tipped on the full package. If YOU don't feel comfortable with that level of tipping, YOU are more than welcome to tip more. I feel 18+% is more than an adequate amount of tip.

For those of you who are suggesting someone is getting cheated because they aren't tipping on the full price of the drink, I suggest you stop buying the Cheers package and start paying the full price of a drink because you are cheating Carnival out of profit on alcohol sales by purchasing the Cheers package, a profit they sorely need these days.

Sounds yummy.  We are making converts. We do muffins.  They are delicious.  Skillet cornbread is an art. Cast iron skillet required.  It is almost a lost art that Grandmas could do by second nature.  Mine have always come out too dry.  I just don't have the touch.

    Try using buttermilk.

Yep.  Not a good decision in my mind.  Where I am from, shrimp and grits are offered mainly for lunch and dinner.  In my neck of the woods, cornbread is the customary side.  I am not from the south and it took me a while to adjust to cornbread served with most meals.  I prefer the sweet version, which is blasphemy here. Lol.

I'm a Southern and I prefer the sweet version myself. With a dash of ground Red Pepper for a little kick.

You have hit the nail on the head!!!  I wish Carnival could see these replies.  A bit of a tweak and even though extra $, I think it would be a hit.  That mirrored menu is terrible to see as you pass by.  Yes, you can QR code it, but I like to review menus as I pass by for future reference and this one is just unreadable.  I would like to see shrimp and grits offered all day.  Meant to get that for breakfast one morning, but soooo many more options.  I am the OP and don't know why I have pursued this subject so much.  I enjoyed the Mardi Gras, but feel something is missing.  Lots of food options, but missing a wow factor.  So many options, so little time.  You really can't get the full experience in one week.

They only have shrimp and grits for breakfast?!?

We usually like to give our tips directly as cash to all. However, the cruise we're booking has a rate that has to have gratuities pre-paid. First time we've seen that.

My question is can the pre-paid gratuities be removed when we board so that don't double pay? We'd like to pay in cash so want those removed.

I find it hard to believe you tip every person that serves you in the buffet, on the lido deck, and everywhere else on ship. Just leave the auto grats in place and don't worry about tipping anymore. It all ends up in the same place anyway.

Cheers is more like a discount.  When I go to a restaurant and get a discount I always tip to the cost before discount.  The waiter did the work and shouldn’t be punished for the discount.  The comparison to a more expensive restaurant makes no sense, but comparing to a discount/coupon does.

Well, that's one opinion but it's not my opinion. A discount (coupon if you will) has to be applied each time. Cheers is a package and sold at a particular cost. You can call it a discount if you want but I see it as a package and the tips have been paid on that package.

You go be you though and I'll be me.

It's the gem onboard -- if for no other reason: they have tablecloths, and the Steakhouse doesn't... LOL

    Tom

That's interesting as the Steakhouse on the Freedom a month ago had tablecloths. None in the MDR, even on formal night, so the only tablecloth we saw during our cruise was our night at the Steakhouse.

No, it is not 18% per drink.  The info above about it only being 18% of the first $50 worth of drinks is accurate.  Ends up being less than 75 cents per drink which drink crew don't love CHEERS.  If it was 18% on every drink value under CHEERS, servers would be lining up to get you drinks

Here's what I don't get. You're not paying $10-$12 a drink. You're paying something like $3.50 ($52/15 drinks) a drink but you're calculating the tip like it's still a $10 drink. Your math is incorrect. So here's my question, When you go out to Chili's or Applebees for dinner do you tip like you just ate at Ruth Chris'? They did the same work so by your math you should tip the same at Chili's as you do at Ruth Chris. When you buy the drink package, you're paying $3.50 a drink so you tip (already included) on that $3.50 but you want to do the math like you paid $10 for that drink. So you HAVE paid 18% for that drink.....even more when most people don't actually drink all 15 drinks in a day.
