  1. Along the same line....we are disembarking at POM, but have a flight out of FLL at 1:50 pm. SAS Transportation is picking us up at the Port and taking us to FLL. Should we carry our own luggage off the boat or should we just disembark and get our luggage after we get off the ship? I'm thinking I will have plenty of time, but not sure so hopefully more experienced cruisers can inform me. Thank you.

You should be okay with a 1:50 PM flight out of FLL. Personally, I'd do the express disembarkation just to be safe. As long as things go smoothly after docking (customs & immigration!) you won't have a problem. SAS has many recommendations here.

  2. This is good feedback, thanks! I'm not too worried about the reactions of others, I dont have many issues like that when I go out and about. Mostly I'm concerned if the cruise lines have some sort of policy (official or otherwise) condoning dressing on ship, or not allowing it.

There are no rules about crossdressing on any ship that I know of. I can think of lots of things I'd rather not see than a crossdresser  . If you're comfortable I doubt anyone will even notice and if they do-so what :D ?

Someone else can chime in about excursions, but I know that there are places in Mexico and the Caribbean that aren't tolerant of anyone "different", so I'd be careful there.

  3. We're staying at the Laquinta Inn East. Free shuttle to hotel, free shuttle

to port and continental breakfast. Many are using a discount code of

    USTBLE.

I'll agree with rnnw62. The LaQuinta Airport East is a good place to stay for a reasonable price, clean rooms, a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port. There's not much around it, but you can have dinner delivered.

  4. I just asked my GP about this last week. I take a RX diuretic daily. He said to take two a day when traveling, one in the AM and one in the late afternoon. I never use salt at home, but on a cruise (or traveling anywhere) salt is used in abundance  .

On our last cruise I had "cankles" (as my friend calls them-you can't tell your calves from your ankles :)) from the second day until the end of the cruise. They were fine in the morning, but by evening I couldn't get into my shoes!

Like several other posters, I drink lots of water, but it just doesn't help all the time.

If your ankles (or other parts!) swell enough to be painful (mine have :( ) I'd suggest you talk to your GP, too.

  5. Hi henepup,

Yes, your niece will need a passport. Go here and click on #20 #21 for more info: http://travel.state.gov/passport/fri/faq/faq_1741.html#cpiap

It shouldn't take much time for her parents to go with her to apply. We went to our local post office and it took less than 30 minutes (this was before the mad rush, though :D ).

Have a wonderful cruise with your niece! She's lucky to have an Aunt like you :) !
