  1. Sail away sounds good, looking forward to meeting you guys.

I love the adult pool up by the spa , tends to be my hang out, that and the INT Cafe,

see you in a few weeks

Lovtotravel2 - Bill - We also like the adult pool and spa - you have to be quick for a lounge chair with those chair hogs... :p

    See you at Sail Away...:)

  2. Hi guys, I am on the Emerald starting 3/9 for B2B trips. Solo traveler from MN here, would love to meet for drinks,

Big on hanging out at beachs swiming relaxing so those are my plans for the weeks

Lovtotravel2 - Bill - - Glad to hear from you. Sorry I have been slow to respond. They block my responses at work.. You will have a great time. We have been on Emerald several times. I see you are a seasoned traveler too. We will definitely have drinks together.

See you at the Sail Away Party. Neil & Jerry :)

  3. Well... Well...Well... I have read over the posts on this thread and I think we have to put it all in perspective...

I know that the perks get much better as you move up on any line, but you can not compare Oceania to Princess, Celebrity or HAL. If you go on Oceania at $10,000PP times 2 (double occupancy) is $20,000 per trip; take that $20,000 and multiply that 20 cruises --that's $400,000 to get a free trip.

Now let's do the math for the "Other Cruise Lines." Let's say we spend $3,000PP times 2 equals $6,000 x 20 cruises; that equals $120,000. $400,000 - $120,000 equals a lot of free cruises to me...:p

The "other" lines are not competing with Oceania, but the real competition for Oceania is Azamara, Silver Seas and Crystal.

    Happy Sailing!!!:)

  4. Hi All...This will be our second time on Oceania... We had our TA on the phone at 8:30AM on 10/7 - By noon the cabins were on waitlist...

We received the O brochure a few weeks ago for a late transatlantic on the new Sirena in June, 2017 out of Miami (we live in S. FL) and it was a great deal and itinerary - 16 days plus $400SBC, free Internet (for one account), 5 free excursions and gratuities included and free air (though we are taking the air deviation out of Rome) all for $3,200PP. Sounds good to me...:) Those are the deals we love...:p

  5. It is per car. And make sure that you go to the authorized taxi stand. Do not go with anyone that is in the terminal who offers you a ride or who holds themselves out as a taxi driver

itsjb1 - Thank you... Do the taxis hold two passengers with two suitcases, a suitor and shoe bag (and two carry-ons)? We travel light...:p

  6. Skippy161- Dave and Paul - - This site use to be a bit easier to navigate. They tried to make improvements and made it quite a bit more cumbersome.

We are both excited too. Your stop in Amsterdam should be interesting and fun. We have tried to get there twice on cruises and each time there were weather issues.

We were in Athens on a cruise before and looking forward to spending some time (unrushed).

    See you soon...:)

  7. We are arriving straight from Fort Lauderdale and will be happy to attend your get together and meet you. We have some friends in Boynton Beach and are fairly frequent patrons of Flakowitz Bakery. We've been on about 14 cruises, this is our third on Princess. Looking forward.

Skippy161 - Dave and Paul - Sounds good... We will see you at the Sail Away Party at the Tradewinds Bar. We live about 1/2 mile from Flakowitz. Are you going early to Athens? We are leaving on 6/13 - to spend a few days.. See you soon.. :)

  8. Hi, Neil and Jerry

We are Dave and Paul from Fort Lauderdale. Just signed up for the exciting cruise. we will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary on board (Istanbul) and would love to meet you and perhaps have a drink.

Skippy161 - Dave and Paul - So glad to hear from you. Congratulations on your anniversary. We will have a celebratory drink together. :) If you would like to meet before the cruise for a drink that would be great.

We are leaving to Athens on 6/13 to spend some time there. We are getting on in Athens and ending in Rome (6/20 -7/4). Where are you starting/ending? We live in S. FL too. We are in Boynton Beach in PB County.

Have you been on the regular roll call? We have a big group and I think there are a few other gay couples. I am coordinating the Sail Away Party at the Tradewinds Bar for the group. I hope you both can join us. It will take place after muster drill, but I have not firmed up the time with the group, as I wanted to see what the earlier cruisers did before us.

We have been CC members for several years and have met many nice people.

We look forward to meeting you both.

    See you soon...:)

  9. Just back from the Regal last week. Not overly impressed with the 50th Anniversary/Caribbean menu. They have a Caribbean shrimp cocktail which was okay, but you must ask for the standard shrimp cocktail, as it is not on the menu.

The other Caribbean items did not excite us. On the other hand, the food on the Buffet was the best we ever had. Great selections and spread out (see my review - neilrr 4/15). Thank goodness they kept some of their best dishes from the old menu.

The MDR was very good but Rack of Lamb was missing and on the 1st formal night you only had a choice of two entrees Medallions of Beef or a Fish dish, though you could order off of the "everyday menu" too.

We personally like the old menu(s) better -- great motto - " if it ain't broken; don't fix it... :)

    Happy Sailing!!! :)

  10. Hey everyone,

I just booked and can't wait to escape the deep freeze! I sailed on Regal last year and was really impressed. The LGBT gathering was earlier than usual at 5:30pm at the aft bar on Lido deck and was hosted the first couple of days by two members of the CD's staff, which was a pleasant surprise. They did a great job of bringing everyone together.

I look forward to meeting everyone at the sailaway party and gathering! I'll make sure I bring Mardi Gras beads. Only a week to go - see you soon!

    Andrew

hoarded- Andrew -So glad you could join us. I did not see you in the regular Roll Call, but it seems like you are aware of Sail Away and the M&G. The Cruise staff did do a LGBT set up on several ships and one even brought a bottle of champagne - we were the only ones to show up - so we ended up with the bottle... :) I know you had a cold snowy winter. We do not miss that...:p Look forward to meeting you. Only 5 days to go.... See you soon...:)

  11. Less than four months until Sail Away and hope to meet others who may be taking this trip. We have enjoyed Greece and Italy before and looking forward to visiting Istanbul, Turkey and going back to Mykonos.

We have been on the Ruby 4x before and really enjoyed it, so we are happy to be on the Emerald.

We hope others will be joining us... We look forward to meeting you here in CC and onboard.

    See you soon. :)

  12. Only 19 days for our cruise to depart, wondering if there have been more who have joined this cruise?

neilrr & Mattscott looking forward to a great cruise and hope our paths cross at some point. Safe travel to the cruise.

    Steve

TRoss - Steve - Good to hear from you.

In the main Roll Call for this cruise, we have a Sail Away Party scheduled at the Sea View Bar on the Lido Deck - Deck 16 directly after Muster Drill; we have suggested wearing leis or Mardi Gras beads to identify everyone and it mkes it festive and gay.:p

There is also a M&G scheduled for the first sea day from 10-11AM at Club 6 on Deck 6, but one of the other CC members is handling that and it requires an RSVP in the main Roll Call.

If we do not see you or Mattscott at any of those events, hopefully, we will see you at a LGBT get-together or at the Martini Bar.

Looking forward to the cruise... Have a great trip down.

  13. I use these for the cruise luggage tags and they work very well:

Here's another item that might be helpful:

    Shower caddy:

nyc12345 - Thank you for the suggestions... You probably need neon lighted tags to find your luggage in all of the snow and slush...:D

I am originally a born and raised Bronx boy myself... Now the sunshine state - except for today...:(

    Happy Cruising...

  14. Been on the Emerald many times...it is our FAVORITE SHIP...and we love everything about it. All the crew were the best of the best everywhere. We had Generoso as MD and he was excellent too.

    Guaranteed you will enjoy yourself.

We had Generoso as MD on the Ruby and he was wonderful. We also had his Sr. Asst. on another cruise. We are taking the Emerald in June - in Europe. I hope he is still on there when we arrive. :)

  15. Hello All,

I will be on this cruise with my partner and a few other friends. I believe our group is at about 6 people now with more friends still making a decision. This is my 5th Princess cruise and I look forward to see the beauty of the Regal Princess. I know the LGBT (formerly Friends of Dorothy) get together can be sparse but I do try to attend them. On my last Princess cruise we ended up with about 15 people at one get together. But have been on cruises where it was me and maybe one other person with no representation from the cruise director staff.

I hope we get to meet.

    Have a great cruise!

    Steve

TRoss - Steve and Partner - So glad you will be joining us. There is a regular Roll Call and we have set up for the Sail Away party on there. You may want to check it out.

We are avid cruisers and this works out well with our school schedule. We also have had some success on Princess cruises meeting others at the LGBT get-together, but not always. It sounds like you are coming with a nice size group to make it interesting this trip. We also like to go to the Martini Bar for cocktail hour, as sometimes the LGBT meeting are not always in the best bar locations.

Look forward to meeting you and your friends soon.:) Have a great week...

  16. Yesjust happened to me recently. We rebooked on the Emerald Princess to visit your auto and Odessa two destinations we really want to see. In this case because of the unrest in that area they changed our itinerary so we canceled a three week trip. As far as what the other people are saying about the ocean princess being sold we are booked on her next Friday for two weeks in the Caribbean and it is booked solid. I will be canceling my future trip on the ocean because it has been sold and I'm sure they will not keep up appearances while this transition is happening. Sorry about your trip I have no idea why they would cancel that area of the world..

Hello again I just wrote you want another post as I did not know what ship you were going on and I didn't tell you we are going on the ocean in nine days. If the ship will still be sailing I cannot imagine why they would cancel that itinerary but once they change in itinerary they will not go back as I mentioned to you that happened to us for a black see Mediterranean voyage next spring

Lostincruisin - Loretta - Fancy meeting you here... I was just about to write in this thread when we saw your post. We are still going on the Emerald in June even with the changes. We are spending 5 nights in Athens and then instead of Odessa and Yalta (due to unrest) they are going to Bulgaria and Romania, though it still shows the other Ukrainian ports on different websites... We really like the two days in Istanbul. We got a decent airfare to Athens and the return from Rome.

Hope you both are doing well... Hope to see you soon..:)
