A PDF of the scanned Dailies of the Getaway 10 days sailing of Feb 6 2024. NYC to San Juan, DR, USVI, BVI & Bermuda.

Thank you!!  Been hoping someone would post these.  I'm on the April 19th sailing.   Any highlights you care to share?

    Thanks for this.

I'm sailing Getaway April 19th so this is timely.

    How was your trip?

I'm on that same sailing.  62 days to go, woohoo!

Currently on the Epic - hello from Amber Cove

compared to my last ship (Joy) the epic is a few steps below in service and food quality - the buffet just seems repetitive and limited - the dining room service has been spotty - and the food quality seems lacking.

for a cruise line that was trying to be known for its culinary - it has taken a step backwards

on a side note the crowd on this cruise seems off to me - I have never seen more orange cards on a cruise.

A little surprised to see you docked at Amber Cover - I thought NCL was using Taino Bay now.   We're on the Getaway in April and really hoping to dock at TB.  Is it possible to taxi there from AC if that's where we end up?  Thanks.  Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

On the food note, I'm somewhat anxious to see how our upcoming cruise compares to our last (Jan 2023) which had hits and misses compared to previous cruises... some quite good options but also a few literally inedible.

  3. Google "Princess Walk Old San Juan".  We are taking this walk along the ocean to the "Original Gate" before passing through to the cobblestone streets of OSJ, heading up to El Morro (been there a few times but traveling with one who hasn't).  Then we'll walk back to the pier through various old streets.

  4. This was a few years ago on the Escape but I was up very early - about 4:30 a.m. and took a walk around the ship.  I'm always ready to eat and headed to OS but they only had chaffing dishes set out with wings and something else fried - I forget what it was, maybe mozz. sticks, I can't remember.

Is the ice vodka bar cool, or does it simply leave you cold (pardon the puns:) ?

The ice bar is what you make of it... We did it on sister ship Breakaway with our group of 8 and had a blast. Loud music, 3 ice wines and lots of fun pix.  It was $20 in 2019...we were given warm hooded capes, gloves and the 3 drinks. Lasts about 45 minutes. We definitely had fun but it's kind of a one-and-done experience.

As for specialty restaurants, many swear by le bistro and ocean blue. We enjoy both of those. Tepanyaki is fun and yummy.

We'll be on Getaway again this April. Enjoy your cruise!

    You got me searching…found this…

“Songs with all three parts - tune, text, and arrangement - dated prior to 1929 (1928 or earlier) are in the public domain. Any part of any song (text, tune, arrangement) dated 1929 or after is under copyright.”

Interesting. Perhaps the CCLI is to cover any newer hymns...though we do sing a lot of old ones!

Interesting. My church (Catholic) hymns are many times hundreds of years old.  My guess is the authors of those hymns are long gone.  So, not likely to command any fees!

    Just another data point!

Ours are very old as well (Methodist). I would bet your church pays an annual fee to CCLI.  I always wondered about too since they're all long gone.

Edit:  it might have to do with the hymnal... Whoever compiled and printed may get that fee.

Point being, I don't see how anyone can charge copyright fees based on the number of people who can hear the performance.  It would be impossible to enforce.

Churches actually have to do this.  They pay an annual copyright fee for music based on membership size (or more precisely, weekly attendance).   I forget what it is - something like $110.00 for 1-20 members and goes up with each increment.   NCL may have to do something similar based on venue size.  And at much higher cost I would imagine.

Is it too late to answer? I can offer some ideas. Been there several times and have done some planning for our trip next week.

Would love your ideas.  I've been to SJ quite a few times but it's been years.  Already did the forts and rain forest.   We're going in April

    thanks.

i typically use OBC for the vibe, so i can't purchase in advance. i am one of those who does a mad scramble when embarkation begins. i'm sapphire, so i can usually get on right after haven. i live a short distance from the manhattan cruise terminal, have an early check in time, and will walk to the pier. so, i should be fine. as of a few days ago, the vibe was still available online (not sold out), which i found interesting. it's a port intensive cruise, but i still figured it would be sold out since it's a caribbean itinerary.

Good luck getting Vibe passes and have a wonderful cruise!  Would love any info on activities/entertainment. We're on this almost identical cruise in April.

@TenForward  The 12 days and 10 days GA sailing to the Caribbean w the brief Bermuda stop are fairly similar with sea days between ports, Freestyle Dailies just about the same ... I believe other CC'ers recently on the Getaway had posted them - finding them again is the challenge ...

Will use other A.I. tools including Bard (that's Co-Pilot on Microsoft's Window 11) to see what I can retrieve and post direct link here.

    Enjoy your cruise ...

Much appreciated!  I've seen mention of posted dailies but have yet to find in searching the main form and Roll Calls.  Hoping they show up as we get closer.

  12. I'm hoping someone will post dailies as well - we're on the April 19 sailing.  Bake Shop items are an extra charge. Starbucks is available in the atrium - also an extra charge. If your cruise is anything like previous NCL voyages, there should be quite a bit of music spread around the ship each night.  Bingo, parties, etc. will certainly be offered as well.  I highly recommend Broadway Unplugged if you see that as an option on your sailing.

    Have a great cruise!

we are headed to Bermuda for our first stop, then to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, and Dominican republic

My family is doing almost this exact itinerary in April (Tortola vs. St. Thomas). We've sailed Getaway before and really like her. We always enjoy Spice H2O but will have Vibe for this trip. I'd be ever so grateful for entertainment info.  Especially want to know if Broadway Unplugged is still being offered. I really enjoyed that last trip.

Have a wonderful time! Hope you'll post some of your experiences.

this is from the Getaway, from someone onboard now and they are posting the dailies:

    yesterday (a sea day):

    breakfast - 8 to 10:30

    Lunch - 12 to 5

    no dinner

Today (port day in Puerto Plata)

    breakfast - 8 to 11

    Lunch - 12 to 5

    no dinner

Thanks for this.  I'm interested in those dailies... Where did you see them?  Will go check the RC...

You are free to use the beach lounges at whatever bar you purchase from (Soggy, Hendo’s, Gertrude’s). It’s a great excursion.

Can you tell me what you mean by "whatever bar you purchase from"?  Do you mean purchase the lounges for rent or more like purchase lunch and/or drinks so you can use the chairs?   We'd like to go to Hendo's while there but since it's an inn with overnight guests, not sure how it works for their lounges.  We definitely want to have lunch there!  We're going in mid April.  Thanks in advance.
