carnival has a great vet gathering. i have been on where there was over 300 in the theater. it was great and the gathering is for anyone who was in the arm forces or even knew someone. it is really a great event to attend. some stories will bring you to tears. God bless the vets!

Well now, I'm not a  coffee drinker so didn't really pay an awful lot of attention!

But I just went and checked my photos from our Dawn trip at the end of April.

There was no coffee maker in or balcony cabin!! 😮

If there is not one, ask for one and you will get it.

Carnival gives you one free dinner for 2 at the Steakhouse after Diamond (200 nights sailing).

NCL gives a Platinum (80 pts.) 2 free specialty dinners for 2 every cruise thereafter.

also a free bottle of wine on one of the free dinners.

In my opinion Carnival needs to cutback on the number of FTTF they sell, at least initially. Although I understand from their perspective it is a program that generates a lot of revenue with little cost to run.

On several cruises, most recently on Sunshine and Horizon within the last few months, we were told cabins may not be ready due to the large number of D&Ps on the cruise.  Fair enough on the surface.  Yet on every cruise I have heard this announcement, there were still a lot of guests with FTTF.  If the number of D&Ps is impacting supposed perks, to include cabins being ready early, they shouldn’t sell any FTTF for that cruise. They already do that for journey cruises. I am positive Carnival knows which of their ships/cruises are going to have a lot of D&Ps (for example, the earliest check-in windows on Vista and Horizon are later than other ships due to the higher number of D&Ps), so it shouldn’t be difficult to determine when not to offer FTTF on certain ships/cruises in addition to journey cruises.

heres my 2 cents worth. i think, they will get the fttf cabins ready before th p and d's . because the fttf people will go to gs to get a refund. that has happened before.

On the Gem at least they used to the "Freestyle" Deck. Small forward deck, At times their would be a have dozen topless and bottomless woman up there. I had no idea what freestyle was until I walked up the steps one day Lol

i started cruising in 1991 and back then carnival had the topless deck. well, i made several trips up there to look for cuba. LOL.

I've seen everything in the MDR.  People do make a little effort on the elegant nights, but I've seen those not dressed up at all on those nights as well. Carnival is extremely relaxed on their dress code enforcement, or lack thereof.

when we were on the Dream in January there were young adults wearing shorts and baseball caps sideways on their heads. this was on elegant night. the md didn't stop them.

We love both Carnival and NCL, but one of the things we prefer on NCL is the variety of the restaurants. For instance, most NCL ships have a (extra-cost) French restaurant and Brazilian steakhouse. There is NOTHING like that on any Carnival ship I've been on. Even if you don't feel like paying extra, all NCL ships have a pub serving cooked-to-order pub food in the evenings (cheeseburgers, fish & chips, etc). Again, Carnival has nothing like this.

and all the chicken wings you can eat in the pub. you get 6 per order, but you can order all you want. also the pub has a very good breakfast.

We booked the Escape for February 8 with a balcony sail away rate. This is the first time we have done a sail away rate. When does the room actually get assigned? Is it just before the cruise? Does Latitudes status have any bearing on which cabin you get?

we booked the breakaway for dec. 14th 2019 last week. already have our cabin number.

I'm booking a cruiser on either the Bliss or the Encore and thinking about doing the Haven. Can anybody tell me what the perks are of booking in the Haven? I was also curious if there was a drawback to booking a Haven Spa Suite? I thought I had heard before that there were drawbacks to it but I can't find anything on it.

    Thank you in advance!

I don't know about the perks, but we got off Breakaway this morning and we saw a funny site yesterday morning at the breakfast buffet. A younger looking woman walked around the whole buffet area 3 times wearing a haven robe and haven house shoes. she was proud of being a haven guest.
