  1. That’s all you get is an email from hal when you book a cabana. I would never dream of not having proof from a hotel of a rate either. Do so at your own peril.
  2. Do what you like but hal misplaces things. I’m armed with every bit of paperwork. That said they never seem to misplace debits, at least in my experience.
  3. Thanks that’s what I thought but it’s been a while since I’ve booked more than 7 days/or b2b.
  4. This is what I say about Hal. Take no responsibility and deny everything. Now I’ve got this ta that came highly recommended. I’ve been trying to book a cruise for a week, it’s all the fault of the cruise line that things are going sideways, even though I’ve caught her in lies already. When I question her, crickets chirp. I’d be mortified treating people like that and I would never do that to my colleagues. It makes you wonder how these people were raised.
  5. So you’d be ok if you booked a beautiful balcony and when you get on the ship they give you the smallest possible inside room? I’m talking about a room you paid full rack rate for, not a freebie.
  6. Yup mine said the same. It also used to show on your boarding pass. What’s the secret? I think hal is just trying to lower expectations so it’s no surprise when pjs are considered dressy.
  7. I don’t remember ever seeing them in Canaletto. That said, their desserts weren’t great, kinda like tamarind now. They used to have fabulous desserts in tamarind.
  8. The poster above you said it looked like one ;). Its not something I would order but it sucks if it was like 2. I've really enjoyed my meals in sel de mer. My first impression of it years ago was meh, so kinda like yours. Over the years I feel for me it has gotten better. I love the lobster in there. I tried the sole that everyone raves about and thought it was fine but not great. I agree, the canaletto on the koningsdam is superb. I wasn't a fan in the past (on other ships) but I am now. I don't care for the gelato, I've found it icy like its been in the freezer too long. I love the nutela chocolate tart. That has to be the best dessert on the ship.
  9. That’s too bad but not super surprising coming from hal. They will never admit they are wrong nor do anything to make the wrong right. A couple weeks back on the Princess board I read something about a cabana and a balcony dinner gone wrong. Princess screwed up. She was very upset rightfully. Princess bent over backwards to make it right. It’s not so much the mistakes, it’s how you fix them. Hal’s best defence is to deny and take no responsibility for anything. Super disappointing.
  10. I sure hope it’s one. The second one doesn’t look remotely like a soufflé. I’m not fond of either soufflés or the profiteroles because I don’t like whipped cream. Soufflés taste like eggs with sugar to me. That said the profiteroles look good but it’s a large serving. Bigger than it looks in the picture. I’ve seen others tables get it. I like the Apple tartin myself.
  11. I’m working with an “experienced” ta as we speak. She’s a cruise specialist according to her card. She came highly recommended. I did screenshots of absolutely everything I wanted. Had everything in the email she could want or need. She ignored 90 percent of what I said and did the booking in usd? There is no way I could have made it easier. I’m just better off using a pcc warts and all.
  12. I’d love to use a pcc but I’ve been told that if you have any trouble you are on your own or deal with the front desk. I’m speaking trouble like cancelled flights booked through hal. The ta’s that I’ve used so far have given me a tiny amount of obc or nothing. Then they complain if I want to make changes. So far, not very impressive.
  13. I thought if you booked a non refundable fare (I'm assuming because your deposit is non refundable)that no price adjustments could be made.
  14. I like that the food is hot as well. That's a rarity in the mdr.
  15. I had forgotten about that lower price so thanks for mentioning. It was ridiculously busy on the koningsdam in November. I had to wait between 15 to 30 minutes in the morning. I only went a couple times at night and I went early.
  16. I really love sel de mer. I believe that is the same chef that was there in November. I really like the fact that he comes out to talk to patrons. I’d been there a few times and he knew that. They really make you feel that they value your patronage and the food is really great too.
  17. Unfortunately, that’s likely what you’ll need to do. Hal doesn’t include gratuities that often. Apparently the story is people prefer the shorex credit 🙄. I’d love to meet one of these people. Good luck!
  18. Hal should have sent a booking confirmation as well. Odd that you didn’t get it. That’s where it’s listed.
  19. I think there is a bit missing from that story. I suspect they upgraded to the lowest balcony from that offer and got the club orange upgrade or they got someone really inexperienced and lucked out.
  20. I just posed the question to crew news about having to pay or not pay for club orange right away. If I read his post correctly he was saying paying immediately might be dependent on the fare you book with. It doesn’t seem to matter which way I book. I think it’s probably pcc dependent. I know I discussed this with my pcc at the time. She said next time she would made note not to charge me because of my Mariner level. That note seemed to be in invisible ink though because it always disappeared before booking my next cruise 😛.
  21. I use an fcd every single time. I don’t book hia out of the gate. Do you? I’m having a hard time believing the rest has any bearing as that has never been mentioned. My pcc that I used previously has been with hal for a long time. The ta I used is very experienced and has a lot of experience with hal.
  22. No, I mean I booked everything at once, not bits here and bits there. In every case, long before final, I’ve had to pony up the club orange price immediately.
