I just booked an Air2Sea flight last week and paid in full so I have good seat choices. The agent actually tried to talk me into waiting until final payment date, but I know the selection would be very limited by then. I went right in and upgraded to the seating we wanted as almost all seats were still open. (Flight in October 2020)

When you say "upgraded", do you mean you are flying economy but paid for a better (non-complimentary) seat?

That's what I was thinking, not sure why they even offer that option (to bring all your bags onboard yourself) but the fact that they do made me question if I was missing something!

I think you are confusing the baggage option.  There is a self-departure option at the end of the cruise where you carry your bags off the ship vs. leaving them outside your stateroom the night before.  Self-departure groups are usually the first groups off the ship.

If you originally book a premium economy or business/first class with Air2Sea, you can wait and pay for the tickets with the cruise final payment and  pick that class of seats on the airline site. You can only pick the class of seats you booked with Air2Sea until the full payment is made.

I booked premium economy on Tuesday but could not pick my seat at AA.com.  However, I called Air2Sea on Thursday and was able to pick my seat.

  4. I've had good luck with GTY bookings on Quantum / Anthem.  YMMV.

Quantum: Booked Inside GTY, assigned deck 13 mid-ship Balcony #13186.

Anthem: Booked Balcony GTY, assigned deck 6 forward Balcony #6530.  Forward view was partially obstructed by bulkhead, but it eliminated most of the water intrusion in high seas.

Anthem: Booked Balcony GTY, assigned deck 7 mid-ship Balcony #7200.

Anthem: Booked Inside GTY, assinged deck 3 aft Oceanview #3246.

If you don't need it to be refundable any longer, you can remove that charge.

I just repriced one of our bookings today because we are now so close to final payment (less than a month away) I went ahead and removed the extra fee for the refundable deposit.  So now we have a non-refundable booking, but saved $200 overall in the process.  Overall I've repriced this cruise to a level that's $800 lower than when we originally booked.

Editing to clarify:  You can remove the fee for a refundable booking, but you need to make sure that the base fare still works out to make it worthwhile.  For example, if you booked a refundable fare at $3000 (say $2800 for the base cabin fare and $200 for refundable fee), and today it's $2800 for the base cabin fare, then it's a wash to remove the refundable fee and not worth it.

Hope it works out for you OP.

I think your clarification, needs some clarification.  🙂

I think you meant "if you booked a refundable fare at $3000 (say $2800 for the base cabin fare and $200 for refundable fee), and today it's $3000 for the base cabin fare, then it's a wash to remove the refundable fee and not worth it."

  6. I've been on Anthem 3 times (Transatlantic, Bermuda, Canada/New England) and Adventure 1 time (Canada/New England).  I've a also been on Quantum 1 time (maiden Transatlantic)

Anthem:  Nicer stateroom/bathroom, North Star, indoor pool, solarium.

Adventure:  Ice show, water slides, mini golf, overall a better ship layout.

If the same itinerary / price, I'd probably choose Adventure.

During the Captain's Corner on our Rhapsody November TA, we were told by the captain that Royal has plans to build a smaller class ship after Icon. It got a standing ovation!

In between Voyager and Radiance class.

    Hope those plans materialize....

Hopefully the 1st one will be home ported in Baltimore (designed to fit under the Key Bridge).

Tampa can have the 2nd one.  😀

We have always gotten a few diet Cokes and bottled water at the bar and taken them up to cabin to use as needed. I always leave a tip and will not be happy if we cannot do this with our free drinks. RCI does not loose money on this deal or they wouldn't do it so I can't understand why they would stop allowing this practice.

People sharing their drinks with other people.
