  1. My trans-atlantics:

Star Princess (14 days) - Port Everglades to Copenhagen.  Smooth as glass until our first scheduled stop in the Azores; port was closed so we continued to Southampton.

Azamara Journey (10 days) - Lisbon to San Juan; non-stop.  IIRC, it was pretty smooth sailing.

Celebrity Constellation (15 days) - Southampton to Miami.

RCCL Quantum of the Seas (8 days) - Southampton to Cape Liberty, NJ; non-stop.

RCCL Anthem of the Seas (8 days) - Southampton to Cape Liberty, NJ; non-stop.  Very rough crossing with several days of 40+ foot swells but the ship handled the seas well.

RCCL Vision of the Seas (16 days) - Copenhagen to Cape Liberty, NJ.  I don't recall any rough seas on this North Atlantic crossing.

  2. I'm going on Adventure next month.  It's a one way cruise so I won't be parking at the port.  I will be renting a car at home and dropping it in Bayonne.

I'm trying to decide if it's better to first drop the luggage, then return the car and get a ride (taxi/uber) back to the port or return the car and get a ride (taxi/uber) back to the port and drop the luggage.

Can you bypass the drop off line if you have no luggage to drop?

Was fortunate to be on her inaugural voyage - before they knew the class would be a hit!

Were you on the planned inaugural voyage or the maiden revenue 3 day pre-inaugural voyage (March 26-29, 2001)?

My daughter and I were on the maiden 3-day voyage.  MDR was total chaos for the 3 days.  They hired 75%? new staff rather than moving staff from other ships. Otherwise, the ship was beautiful.

Princess - love the freshwater pools and Movies Under the Stars. We like the pool deck food amenities and self laundry. We like the balconies better and wish Princess cruised out of the NYC area. It seems all my kids need to be happy is a pool, mini golf, ping pong and an arcade which are all found on any line.

Princess sails to Canada / New England out of NYC in the fall.

I know this happened to the Liberty a couple of months ago,  when my daughter was aboard and they hit every port as expected.

Maybe if they stop hitting every port, they won't have to do maintenance as often.  😉

  6. When first implemented, it was four different "free" dining rooms each with a different menu that did not change night to night. No fixed (traditional) seating, it was all like My Time. As time went on, they added more menus and had a "classic" option that added a traditional fixed dining time that rotated through the different restaurants.
The original DD idea was nice but the reservation system was AWFUL. Of course, being on the first "regular" sailing with DD (Quantum TA - Southampton to Cape Liberty, NJ) didn't allow for any bugs to be worked out. On the same Anthem sailing the following year, I chose DD Classic which worked very well and I liked the day to day change of environment / menus without the hassle of making reservations.
