  1. I continue to cruise with Carnival because I haven't found a reason to NOT cruise with them. I like what I get for the money I'm spending. I don't go on a vacation just to find things to complain about. Is everything to my liking? No. Is everything perfect? No. But it's nothing that I would consider a deal breaker or cause me to look elsewhere for cruising. I've also sailed on Celebrity and Princess as well and I don't have a problem with either of them. Majority of my cruises are with Carnival because I find deals that are too good to pass up. So once I board the Carnival Ship, all my cares just float away, and it's "Fun for All, and All for Fun". :)

  2. Our last cruise was on the Magic, September 2012.

For cruise elegant nights, I saw lots of women who were dressed up. The ladies had on dressy dresses, cocktail dresses and fancy long dresses. A few of them had on dressy pants suits, with some wearing dress pants with fancy tops/blouses.

The men wore everything from suits, a few in tuxes, dressy pants and dress button-down shirts with matching ties to docker pants with floral caribbean shirts. I didn't see anyone with jeans on in the MDR on elegant nights. Yes jeans were popular on cruise casual nights. Both men and women had on jeans but dressed them up with nice shirts/tops.

We tend to dress up ourselves on elegant nights but that's our choice because we want to look good and take really nice pictures to buy.

  3. Yep, the lines were long on the Magic....and if you didn't get there about 30 minutes before the show you were out of luck. Then we went on the Triumph and you could walk right in and get a seat. It was rarely crowded either, they would let us stay in our seats for the next show. Go figure.

I get the small setting but they need to figure out a better way for people to see the shows. The line went all the way down the promenade and it was hard for folks to even get by to go to other areas.

This was my exact same experience on the Magic, September 2012!! You cannot stay in your seats when the show is over. The Staff make you leave the room, you have to get back in line (Which will be long) and re-enter the room!!

  4. I have sailed on the Carnival Valor twice, once doing an Eastern Caribbean Cruise and one once doing a Western Caribbean Cruise. I have 9 cruises total with Carnival and one sailing on Celebrity Cruise Line on the Century. I have sailed out of San Juan 3 times total (Carnival 2 times and Princess Cruise Line once), all doing the Southern Caribbean. Here's some differences I noticed between the Carnival and Celebrity. Carnival is the funships and there's plenty to do to keep you occupied and having a good time. On Celebrity I was kinda bored once late dinner was over, mainly because there were limited things to do after 9 or 10 o'clock. However, on Celebrity the service is Top Notch, hands down. The average age of passengers on Celebrity was probably 57 and over (I went on Celebrity at the age of 39). The buffet on both lines are pretty much the same. The MDR on Celebrity is more upscale and yes, as someone else said, the people dress more in fine/elegant clothing and the men do wear their tuxedos. Also on Celebrity, while the few people I met were friendly, they weren't overly eager to mix and mingle with others. They sort of stuck to who they sailed with, which was a switch from the Carnival Passengers who I always strick up a conversation with total strangers and we have drinks together or are on an excursion and we chat-it-up while having a good time.

I don't think you'll go wrong going on either cruise line as they both were fun times just as on any of the cruise lines I've traveled with. It depends on if the things I've mentioned and how important or not to your liking.

  5. I say go to Tabyana Beach!! You can google it and see just how nice it is. I've been there 3 times and I'd love to be there now instead of at my desk working! If you go, I don't thin you'll be disappointed at all. Try there Ice Tea, they make it and add a little Cinnamon to it. So Refreshing!
