Yes you can short cut though the parking garage to walk to Publix or Total Wine. We do it all the time. We love Hyatt Place and have been there at least 5 times now for a cruise.

Curious how long is the walk from hotel to Publix?

  2. Hello!  Apologies for posting a scenario that has probably been brought up multiple times but hoping for some suggestion.  We (2 adults, 2 kids) have a cruise in Aug leaving from Miami.  We will be flying in from Canada.  It looks like a lot of flights are going into FLL instead of MIA.  We plan to fly in the day before so our options look like:

    1) stay in a popular FLL cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to MIA port on Saturday

    2) stay in a MIA cruise hotel on Friday and get transported to port on Saturday

    Which one is better?

On the return we would like to find a flight out of Miami (instead of FLL due to the extra travel time).  What's a safe cut off time (ie, nothing earlier than 1pm) in order to make it onto the flight?

    TIA!

I question the stupidity of someone forging a card possibly to get on a cruise.  Here's a scenario.  You get a negative covid test 72 hrs pre cruise.  You travel to the cruise and possibly get covid in those 72 hrs.  Then you are on the ship and either start showing symptoms or you are tested positive prior to disembarking for your travel home.  You now have to explain about that faked vaccine card.  Is it really worth it?

Probably worth it to people who are against vaccines but love cruising....

thanks! am debating between doing a post-cruise excursion to the everglades  or renting a car and going on our own....

We are debating the same thing and we're choosing to rent a car from Budget (close to the port) and then returning the next day at the airport before our flight.  Note that it's cheaper if you are returning to the same location vs returning to the airport but for the convenience factor, we are ok with it.

  5. Thought about starting a new thread but I think I'll add my inquiry to this one.  What's the best method to get from our hotel (likely close to the airport) to the port on a Sunday morning in January?  Keep in mind we'll have 3 seniors (no mobility issues), 2 adults, 2 kids (6 and 3) with 5 carry-on's, 1 stroller, couple of personal handbags.  All ideas welcome!  TIA....

  6. Alright, our plan is to get off the ship and rent a minivan for a day (to be returned the next morning at the airport as our flight is at noon). It seems like we'll have time to explore from disembarkation till whenever we go to our hotel at night. Because we have some seniors and young children all in the minivan, we probably will just want to drive around Miami and see some sights. Any good places/neighbourhood to drive around, stop off to stretch our legs while seeing Miami?
