We went on the Oasis last January and the Anthem this past January. Both are great ships with lots of things to do for families. We didn't feel like there wasn't enough to do on the Anthem just because it's smaller than the Oasis. It was 12 nights vs 7 on the Oasis but we weren't bored of it by the end.

We are all here to learn things. :) I like the idea of hop on/off bus! If there are more suggestions I'd welcome it.

Hello,
We are planning on flying out a day after the cruise so looking for some ideas on what to do in Miami for that one day after disembarkation. We have will have 3 seniors, 2 adults, 2 kids (6 and 4). Any suggestions on things to do? Tours to take? etc... I'm open to renting a van for that 1 day if necessary or go along with some tour until we get back to the hotel in the late afternoon/early evening. Thanks!

Good point on the food expense! We might not be saving that much more after factoring that in.

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know what the latest disembarkation time on the Allure is? I'm looking to purchase return flights out of Miami and the options are 12pm and 830pm. I'd prefer the 12pm flight but it's $50 more expensive. We will have around 6-8 members so that could mean $300 - $400. I figure if we leave the ship as late as possible and slowly get to the airport it might help fill up the wait time. Thoughts?

We are on the Allure of the Seas.... It is an interior room (3841) closer to the elevators in the aft of the ship. Does anyone know where the bandstand in the casino is (if there is one)? Thanks!

Hello,
We have booked a room right below the casino on the Allure. Wondering if anyone is aware of what the potential noise can be?
Thanks!

What route do you usually take driving from Toronto to Cape Liberty? It'll be our first time driving and I'm trying to get an idea on different routes....

Not surprised about the lines in the Cafe 270. It's not a secret to the many many repeaters on your 12 day Jan cruise. Solarium Bistro is another option to the WJ.
Is the Solarium Bistro open for kids under 16 for lunch on sail away day?

I'd like to know too!

Following as well. Not looking for any water sports but moreso a place for the kids to swim in.
-
Do they provide elbow/knee pads for the skating in addition to the helmets?
-
Looking for zipline recommendations too!

Are these rates typically better than Canadian credit cards or banks?
-
Sorry I'm bad at Math. Is a lower or higher exchange rate better?

Could you provide more details? What is your exact cruise date? Do you need 2 or 3 hotel rooms? Bed size requirements? It's all about figuring out the total amount you would spend on a hotel, parking, and port transportation. The Ramada is probably the best deal, but with 6 people you might do better staying within an hour of the port and paying to park at the port.
We're cruising on January 28 and planning to arrive on the 27th. Ideally, we're looking for a suite to accomodate 4 adults and 2 young children. I've called around and seems like Best Western Plus is the best so far: $195 + tax, shuttle return to cruise port, parking is $8/night with free b/fast. I called Ramada and they referred me to the site you mentioned (trinityreservations.com). The pricing there doesn't seem as comparable to Best Western Plus.
Question: Anyone ever stay at BWP before and what are your thoughts?

138east/other forum readers: We've made the decision to rent a van and drive down. As such, we'll likely park the car in the hotel. We're looking to find a hotel which provides shuttle to and from the cruise port for 6 people. Is the Ramada still recommended or are there other hotels? TIA!

Alert: The January 28th ship out of Cape Liberty will be VERY dirty. It is highly recommended for you to cruise around this date. :P

I hear what you are saying but the local economy needs $$ from tourism. Are you suggesting to take away the local residents' livelihood in addition to the suffering they are dealing with now?

Interested in this too!

Thanks for the education on capacity. I was asking because I'm interested in bringing my parents on the same cruise I already have booked. This will be their first time (my mom is not too keen but my dad is interested in the casino). They wouldn't mind trying it if it's not too "costly". The capacity inquiry is making me wonder if we should wait until closer to sailing (within 90/60/30 days) in hopes of landing a good price or purchase now. I understand no one has a magic 8 ball so this guess work may be purely based on luck or "rolling the dice".

How does one find out the occupancy rate of a specific cruise?

Hello,
bumping this thread up instead of creating a new one. We have a 12 nighter booked for next January. Any tips folks can provide on the ship? Any quiet areas to catch a breath? Any secret passages? Where should we go to get food after boarding on the first day?
Allure of the Seas REVIEW (Sept. 2 to 9) - Super long with probably too many details!

Thanks for the write up! We're going on the Allure in January with 2 kids. 1 is turning 6 in December and the other turning 4 on the trip. I wonder if Adventure Ocean will allow my oldest to stay in the Aquanauts and how I can get the younger one to like it (she didn't want to go there on our earlier trip this year on the Anthem). How long did it take to walk to the Fort in San Juan?
