To clarify, just because the ship is in port at 5:30 or 6:00 a.m., they don't expect you off at that time?

I don't want to leave the ship until 8 or 9:00 as our flight from FCO isn't until 12:50.

Can anyone recommend a credit card for Europe traveling? Perhaps one that has no fees for ATM withdraws as well no international fees?

I've never been to Europe but assume that it'll be cheaper to get euros and the cheapest way to do that would be ATMs? Or is there a better way? Should I get euros before I leave the states?

Do you have to pick a time in advance? You can also just show up but might have to wait, right?

Also, do they seat you with others at a larger table unless you ask to be seated alone?

We'll be on a 9 night med cruise this fall. I know some ports are more expensive than others, so of the following ports where do you think I'll find the best shopping deals?

Rome, Messina/Sicily, Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini, Athens and Naples

You scare me traveltilidrop. Size is fine with the overhead but I'm worried about my under seat bag. It is soft so I'm hoping that if I don't stuff it full it will squish into whatever sizing tool they use. Fingers crossed.

Has anyone done a sailing tour here? We don't want to do Delos or a full day of walking/shopping. We read about some water tours and wondered if anyone has gone that route in Mykonos?

Would I be correct to assume that if you are the only ship in port there might not be such a long line for the cable cars in Santorini?

Right Merion_Mom, I just meant that whatever I can fit in the overhead and under seat on the plane would be fine to keep with me when boarding the ship.

Now I just have to find something to do in Rome until our cabin is ready at 2:00 or 3:00 :cool:

Thinking about this again...I should be able to take 24" or smaller suitcase (that will fit in the overhead on a plane) straight on the ship and not leave with valet right?

We heard announcements about lost luggage almost daily on our Carnival cruise last year. I'm worried about being separated from my bags. I'd rather pack light and keep it all with me.

Has anyone brought a case of water or 12 pk of soda on board at Civitavecchia?

Sorry, I wasnt clear. I meant swimsuits on the ship. We aren't doing any beach excursions so no suits on land.

We usually vacation in theCaribbean or have cruised there. We are going completely different this timewith our fall cruise from Rome, doing the Greek Isles. In the past we’ve livedin swimsuits all day on the ship and then even in most of the ports. I assumeit will be warm in the solarium pool area, but will probably also be verycrowded. Can you still lay in the sun in that area or would you have to find anot so windy spot on another deck?

Did you find yourselfstill in swimwear most of the day? Can anyone offer some insight about howcooler temperatures might impact our time on the ship and what we wear?

I purchased a cruise with an RCI rep on the phone last night. It still hasn't shown up on their site when I log in. How long does it take to show up?

Or maybe Royal's is damaged and they are hoping it will all be OK by Wednesday. It just seems suspicious that Carnival has cancelled SJ departures as far out as Oct 8th and Royal seems to be business as usual. They can't share a pier in these hard times?

We are supposed to fly into SJ in 9 days. When will I find out about my hotel accommodations for the night? Will my trip insurance pay for me to change my flight to Saturday so that I don't have to camp in a tent if my hotel is inoperable?

I read somewhere that they will give at least 2 days notice. 2 days? 2 days before the cruise we are driving 2 hours away to spend the night near the airport since we were flying in a day early. Please don't let it be 2 days!

What if PR's pier is destroyed? Surely they'll have to cancel those cruises, right? I don't see how they could tell all of us that are flying to PR to board the ship at another port...or could they?

Reading all of this hurricane news is hurting my head. I'm certainly glad I don't have to figure out how to reroute all of the ships and planes that will need to be rerouted after Maria.
