  1. Hi

I have just rang them and have saved a whopping £429 per couple! The difference was £529 per couple but we lost our 100 deposit as we did a new booking.

But we also now have a $100 onboard credit per couple aswell!

So glad I checked the price!

  2. Hi

We have booked to go on the getaway next July on a Europe cruise.

I have booked directly with the cruise line, I checked the prices out today and they have dropped quite significantly. By over £300pp.

Will NCL do anything about this for us?

For example I know carnival will give you OBC for the adjustment?

Or do I just take it as a lesson learnt?

(And I'm aware I wouldn't pay more if they increased the prices...)

  3. So the prices are out for some 2020 cruises.... and the 1 I want is available!

So shall I book? Or will there likely be a price drop? (I know I know no1 has a crystal ball but I just mean historically do prices drop?)

Also if I do book and the price drops, do NCL give it u back in on-board credit like Carnival do?

    Thank you :)!

  4. Hi

We went to St Thomas in the first week of January.

I really wanted to replace my engagement ring whilst there... I was a bit dubious and searched the this site and Google for reviews.

A lot of them were negative and saying you never know what you're getting etc.

I decided to go ahead and do it anyway, I wasn't buying mega expensive jewellery so thought I can't be that ripped off.

After a beautoful day at sapphire beach, we decided to have a look in the jewellery shops around port.

I only wanted a pink sapphire and diamond ring.

Each shop showed me there selection and I ummed and ahhd.

We then went into a store called 'glitters'... I saw my perfect ring but acted coy.

They first offered me a price of $1650 which I said no too. They dropped it to $1490 (£1100) but wouldn't go any further.

    I decided to take it...

Today I have been to get it valued.... and I am please to say it was more than double!! It was valued at £2500!! ($3550)

So this is just a positive review to put people's minds at rest.. I have worried about it not being real the whole time from leaving st Thomas to getting it valued!

Next time we go I will be updating my wedding ring and wouldn't hesitate to shop there again.

  5. Ive only ever cruised once!

The first day I hated it!! I was like omg what have we done? Wevw wastes all our money to be trapped in a ship for 7 days.

Check in was a nightmare, took us 1 hr stuck on a bus in traffic and then around 2 hrs ti get on the ship (ncl epic). Once on board we just didn't know what to do? Everywhere was packed busy, couldn't get near the bar.

Our sail away was delayed due to someone taking very ill (no fault of the cruiseline) but all i was thinking was I could be on dry land in disneyworld right now 🙈.

The first night i was so sick... couldn't eat dinner. I just wanted to get off.

I woke the next morning and thought oh i don't feel sick (had taken motion sickness tabs).

Well lets just say i was hooked!! The first stop was st thomas... waking up to that view 😍 omg now i know why i was cruising!

We are cruising again on carnival glory in jan, less than a year after our first ever cruise and I can't wait!!

  6. Ok i can't believe some of you have to take your annual leave as sick.

I get 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay. I am currently off sick, sadly my mum passed away 6 weeks ago at 49. (I'm 27) i don't feel under any pressure to go back. Have been off since june 1st as she needed a lot of care at the end.

In fact my manager is encouraging of me NOT coming back too soon.

Oh and we also have all our annual leave to take once we come back!

  7. Don't feel badly for us. It's self inflicted. The average U.S. employee who receives paid vacation has only taken about half what they receive in the last year. That's been consistent for a number of years.

Why do people leave thousands on the table? Fear. Fear that if all their vacation time off is used the employer will replace them.

Omg that's crazy!!! I am already planning where to take april 2018-apr 2019 7 weeks allowance. I wouldn't miss a day of my annual leave.

  8. man, this can be a tough crowd...bottom line is that it is not the usual thing to get a call regarding an upsell or an upgrade.

    I know right 😂

Thankyou, thats all i wanted to know. Wasnt after a freebie.

I think i will go ahead and upgrade before we go.

  9. In england whether you pay for not its an upgrade.

For example we have upgraded to premium economy in nov (paid upgrade) if we were to receive a free one we would just simply say a free upgrade.

an act of upgrading something < oxford dictionary meaning.

    Sorry forgot this

raise (something) to a higher standard, in particular improve (equipment or machinery) by adding or replacing components.

Says nothing about payable or not in the dictionary.

Why people have to get so upity I'll never know 😂😂

  11. Free upgrades are not offered to anyone unless Carnival has a need for your cabin.

I didn't say free 🤔🤔🤔 i Clearly said cheap? As in are lower price upgrades offered.

I don't know whether to just bite the bullet and pay for one... or hope they reduce the price nearer sailing time?

  12. Are upgrades ever offered to UK guests? We are travelling on the glory in jan... i would love a balcony room. Are cheaper upgrades offered nearer the time?

And I'm not cheap but this will be my 4th holiday in 6 months so budget concious 😂

  13. My favoured route would to be to have all charges covered in the price you pay for the cruise, rather than dividing it out, but that not being the case I have prepaid mine so that the back-room staff get some too. We've seen it all too often where bar staff get tipped hundreds over the course of the holiday whereas the laundry get nothing as they're not around where customers are spending.
