  1. You are exactly right. Our nearest city (30 miles) is Chicago, a city currently infamous for it's gun violence. But where does it happen? Almost exclusively in a set number of areas. Stay away from those and you are as safe in Chicago as in any major city (which means it is not like Mayberry, but with common sense precautions you need not stress about visiting). I live in a very 'normal' middle to upper middle class area, in a town which has the most churches in Illinois and a very low crime rate. But within the first three months I was here there was a murder on the next block (happened to be domestic violence, but a murder nonetheless). You just never know, but do your research, use common sense, and stick to areas frequented by tourists and you will be fine on any of the islands.

this topic is derailed....I think it is about Celebritys high prices.

  2. True.

Also, as it has been said above - since O Life came into being many people take O tours and fewer private ones. They supplement the O Life tours with using their OBC (if any) for remaining tours, thus further reducing the need for private tours and participation in roll calls..

I also think that is the reason for less participation on Roll Call.

We have 3 O life tours with this one. All the rest we plan to do private tours, if anyone eventually joins us.

  3. Yes, hope you are right and things will pick up on the roll calls.

It is really so much more interesting when you meet some people before sailing.

Other lines have huge roll calls. Celebrity to name one.

Perhaps one reason is that O includes some tours in ports.

  4. November 16, 2018, Barcelona to Lisbon, Spain and Canaries, 12 days on the Marina.

I am really surprised that more have not joined us on the roll call.

We have been to the Canaries , amazing.

The price for the cruise starts at 1, 899, that is a wow price considering what others cost.

  5. I was going to wait to book the Edge when we are on the Solstice in June, but couldn't wait. Looking forward to January 2019 on the Edge!

In looking at the infinite cabin floor plan, http://www.celebritycruises.com/edge/accommodations/edge-staterooms/, I am concerned about the cabins with the bed by the folding doors to the balcony. It doesn't appear that there is enough room next to the bed for it to be fully opened. I can't imagine that it would be designed that way, so perhaps the bed location is more away from the balcony.

I emailed Customer Service and asked if there are two placements where the bed can be. They replied only one, by the bathroom. So things are not certain about anything yet.
