Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. So true. I call it mellowing as I age.
  2. We just got off Solstice on Boxing Day. Regarding trivias, there are 3 to 4 of them per day and a ton of fun and usually held on deck 14 in the Sky Lounge. Dee, young girl from Brazil, and Dennis, young Filipino man, usually run those. Dennis, especially, is a ton of fun. There is also something very silly with audience participation every night at 8pm and not to be missed, on deck 4. Out of the 7 nights, Celebrity Production singers had 4 nights - BOO, I always skip them because they are really not good singers. Normally, we only get 1 night or maximum 2 nights on a weeklong cruise. The other 3 nights, we had a Canadian lady comedian, well she was a little over the top and I thought she was OK but my husband didn't care for her. We had a very good high energy threesome called Uptown and they were fabulous. They did a bunch of Motown music. We also had a magician and mentalist called Andrew Lee from Malaysia and he was top notch. He performed on night 6 in the theatre and also night 7 in a smaller room called Celebrity Centrale. He was a semi-finalist in Britain's Got Talent and an Asian version of that. He was also on America's Got Talent or some version of that. The response was overwhelming and Celebrity Centrale barely had any standing room left to see him on night 7. We enjoyed Sushi on Five and had a lunch and a dinner there but did not do other speciality dining venues. Enjoy your time. Penthouse Suite sounds fabulous!
  3. Can you move one kid to your room, in name only, so that at least your kid gets drinks and wifi?
  4. Thank you for your review. I was on your second leg, but in an Aqua class stateroom. Unfortunately, our experience was a real letdown from pre-COVID cruises, in particular, Blu restaurant. I won't go into it here since this thread is yours. My husband already said that we will plan on going back to booking Sky Suites in the future because we did miss Luminae big time. This was a free BCC cruise for us. BTW, we also headed back to LV but had no issue with the traffic. We left the ship at about 7:15am and headed straight home, as we had parked at the cruise port. I think traffic gets bad even an hour or two later.
  5. I received this as well. I wonder if BCC can price Aqua class stateroom with cruise only rate.
  6. They are supposed to only offer 1 non-alcoholic package, i.e. Zero Proof, formerly known as Premium Non-Alcoholic Package. They have yet to load it onto the website.
  7. Generally I don't eat burgers and hotdogs and even if I were to have a burger, I would ask for protein style. I reserve my carb intake to desserts. Occasionally, I would ask for a small side of pasta with my meal and my server had always gotten a side of gluten-free pasta for me. No issue for me for sure.
  8. I have been on many Celebrity cruises and a bit of foodie myself. I am gluten-intolerant and have been very pleased with the food offerings. I have always been very well taken care of by my servers. In my opinion, the weakest link is in Oceanview and we avoid it altogether. My server even got me curry chicken one night when it was not on any menu on the ship.
  9. It is not true that everyone in a cabin of legal age "must" have a beverage package. They both do not need to purchase a package. However, if one buys, then the rest of the cabin mate(s) must also have beverage package(s).
  10. OV offerings are not to our taste and I agree that their gluten free options are not great. We don't eat at OV. At Cafe Al Baio, you would have found gluten-free muffins and cookies. They also have delicious gluten-free cakes. If you don't see any gluten-free cakes, just let the counter person which gluten-free cake you enjoy and they had been very good about making sure that they had the cakes for me the following day and after. Our servers in Luminare and Blu had also been most excellent with gluten-free options. In fact, most items on the menu are made gluten-free.
  11. You don't need to buy, if one buys, then everyone must buy... https://www.celebritycruises.com/faqs/beverage-packages
  12. This is an interesting new policy. With the meds that we are both on, we are not supposed to drink alcohol. However, my husband ignores the restrictions and drinks. On the other hand, I don't even like alcohol so it is an easy one to refrain from. It is quite ridiculous that the other passenger must also purchase an alcoholic package unless the person has medical or recovering alcoholic restrictions. In my case, even if I am not on medical restrictions, I have no interest in drinking alcohol.
  13. In the FAQ, you will keep what you have already bought. It is a good thing that I am OCD. I have already bought non-alcoholic Classic packages for all 3 upcoming cruises.
  14. Your experience is the complete opposite of mine. I have been on many Celebrity cruises and gluten-free muffins and bread would appear at breakfast, gluten-free toast with lunch and dinner without asking. Make sure you let the maitre'd know and have the same server and assistant servers each day. My servers were always knowledgeable as to which items on the menu were not gluten-free, which were very few. I had never bothered to order the night before.
