Princes cruises which is part of the Carnival corporation sails out of the Brooklyn terminal late august to October
new next year, MSC will sailing out of the brooklyn terminal also year round. They are going to be lots of competition out of NYC for year round sailings with Carnival, Royal, Norwegian and MSC
That's awesome. The competition is good. I am booked in the summer but I usually prefer to book my vacations Dec - Jan so I can get away from the cold. It's nice now to have a lot of options. Only fear is that snowstorm will likely affect a few of these cruises.

Yes, much better than schlepping to Brooklyn!
I didn't even know Carnival cruise out of Brooklyn. I'm glad it's from Manhattan. Just a short drive on the West Side Highway (Joe D.) for me.

How do you feel about the change from Magic to Venezia? I am not mad at all because I've already sailed the Magic. I rebook it because it is a nice ship and I was tired of traveling to Florida to take a cruise.

The current configuration already has a water park for little kids, although not as extensive as the Carnival Waterworks with the giant water 🪣. They may or may not add additional water features but even if they don't there's one that already exists.
The waterworks is what I meant. The website has waterworks as "coming soon"

Not trying to make waves! Long time CCL cruiser and I've never had ANYTHING changed so I'm clueless. I did my first solo cruise in Sept. Booked Magic solo for June. Handpicked my OV which very few are available (as I'm sure many of you have done) on Magic and even fewer on Venezia. I'd be disappointed if I wasn't assigned to my "special OV" but I'll survive! 😊 Feel bad for families with kids who booked because of waterparks, etc. BUT I do think maybe CCL could give you the option of cancelling with no penalties. I was going to do this and rebook my cabin-it's same price and included $100 OBC which I did not get originally. I'd lose $250 deposit so doesn't make sense. There's my rant. Over and done. VERY HAPPY CCL will be in NY this winter. Might just give away my winter clothes and snow shovel and sail on her for a few months!😁
One thing I was looking forward to was the waterpark as well for my 5 and 8 year olds. We have been on the Magic before and they enjoyed it. The younger one was just 2 and a half years old so she don't remember much. It shows on Carnival's website the Waterworks will be on this ship so I think that will be one of the major changes.
I am with you on giving up my snow shovel for cruising. Only issue is that where I live the town would be making some money from the summons I would get for not cleaning up the sidewalk in time. It feels so good not having to go to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to catch a cruise. Those are the only two ports I've used.

I thought I saw a video that John Heald shot yesterday on this ship in which he alluded to the fact that a Blue Iguana and Guy‘s would be added. It’s probably still up on his Facebook page.
Regardless, I’m excited that Carnival will have a Vista class ship sailing from NYC year round. The price is much better than what you will find on most of the other lines sailing from NYC.
I saw the video as well. It's on Youtube. He wasn't sure what's going to be added and what's not. To be honest, I don't want them to change everything on this ship. It's kinda a new experience than the typical carnival ships. I do hope the have Guy's on it though. I guess it's just a wait and see.

Going off the current deck plans as a Costa ship, the bottom right will be the burger bar, not sure if it’ll be Guy’s, Luminosa didn’t get a Guys. Bottom left could be Blue Iguana or something different. Top left would probably be the Rum Bar. Top right is currently a Gelato Bar so that could be turned into a rum/tequila bar or a Carnival version of a Gelato/Ice Cream bar.
According to the cruise comparison thing on the carnival's website, there will be no guy's burger.

Are they ALLOWED to do this? I can understand changing itinerary because of weather conditions, or MAYBE exchange a ship from the same class, for example, Pride for Miracle, but an entirely different ship?
The main reason some people book particular cruise is the port of calls and even that is subject to change.

as a native new yorker and this is also my homeport, unfortunately this is correct with the people in our not so amazing city
I am happy we will have year long cruising out of NY because I usually have to find flight for 6 people to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. I agree with New Yorkers being a rowdy crowd. What's worse is that my July cruise will be in the summer so on top of the rowdy crowd we will have to deal with teenagers running around. That being said, the ship is big enough for me to find my own "serenity".

I got the email as well that they changed my August 2023 cruise to this ship. i was initially stoked, then I found this thread, then I had a mild panic attack when someone said there were no waterslides for the kids and no camp ocean, then I was relieved when 10 people posted pics of the waterslides and said "heck yeah there are waterslides and camp ocean for the kiddies" so now my panic attack is done and I have nothing further to add to the convo, but the fact that i booked a balcony on the old ship and was hoping to upgrade to a suite. the Suites have been sold out for months on the old ship, so no dice...do we think there are more suites on this ship? carnival.com still saying sold out, but i suspect that is due to the shuffling of everyone as well.
no matter, i'mma cruise and have a great time and the kids are going to enjoy some waterslidesssss.
Someone previously stated that there are less suites on this ship. My issue is that i booked connecting balcony cabins as I did on the Magic when I sailed her in 2019. I hope they can find connecting cabins on deck 7 or 8 for this ship. I called carnival and texted my PVP but they say they have to wait and the changes will be made by 11/21. I am very specific when I book because I want to make sure the family have a good time. That's why deck 7 or 8 is perfect on this ship. I had 7223 and 7227 on the Magic booked.

Wow. I didn't know that. That is awesomeeee. I used to live in NYC but now I am in Connecticut. Driving to the port is just under 1.5 hours for me.

One of the things that's a little challenging about this is that Carnival is likely to operate ONLY Venezia from NYC. A second ship is truly unrealistic given their historic track record up there struggling to fill a Spirit Class vessel. So with that being the case and with the company's desire to have a differentiated product in the Costa by Carnival branding, I wonder if an eventual 'dancing of the ships' is in order. Perhaps Venezia eventually swaps out with Horizon in MIA. That way NYC gets 12 month service from a classic Carnival ship and MIA gets a differentiated product offering. Long Beach doesn't have the same issus with Firenza as that port will surely have multiple Carnival vessels. My sincere hope is that Firenza does the same kind of multiple interesting itineraries down the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii and Pacific coasts that they are planning out of NYC.
I doubt there will be a year round carnival cruise out of NYC.

The Pig and Anchor that I was looking forward to on the Magic again will not be on the Venezia. Interestingly, Guys Burger will also not be on it according to the information I found on the Carnival Website. Guys burger should be on all Carnival ships IMO.

I got that email too. I’m excited. I just have to make sure they find me a connecting balcony like I had scheduled on the magic.

I haven’t cruised since December 2019. Last cruise was on the Magic out of Fort Lauderdale. I was looking for summer 2023 cruise from NY and the Magic is the ship that will be leaving from there. I have it booked for July.
I enjoyed this ship in 2019 even though the cruise director was a little boring. Excited to go back on it mainly because my then 1 and a half years old will be 5 and my then 4 years old will be 8 (third cruise). They will have a great time and will be able to remember more things.
Haven’t been keeping up with post on here because life got in the way and I had no cruise booked. Is there anything new I need to know about carnival cruises post covid? Anything changed specifically on the Magic?

I have been on the Carnival Magic a total of 3 times, twice while she was brand new and sailed from Galveston. The most recent was September 14th, 2019 out of Fort Lauderdale and in no way is the ship Rundown or Neglected. Staff was constantly cleaning and taking care of her so she could shine as she should.
If the Ship was labeled "Garbage" then I don't think anyone would book her and she would probably sail with nobody hardly on her. But she sails at Full Capacity on many sailings. So far this ship is one of my favorites.
I just came off the last cruise and the ship is on a way better condition that people say it is. All ships have rust from the salt water.

Carnival Venezia 29 Sep-14 Oct 2023
in Carnival Venezia Roll Calls
Posted
I've watched quite a few videos on the Venezia. Its actually a tad larger than the Horizon and Vista so we know it's a big ship. It is absolutely beautiful inside and different from any other carnival ship. However, a lot of that will be changing. I hope they don't change it too much because I love the décor {except for some bright red colors they have in certain places which was appealing to the Chinese market).
