  1. So it looks like these are excursions in Nassau, Cozumel and Catalina... Which is smart, so that the performers do not have to be on the ship all the time. They fly in and out. I have only found Nassau people so far. Does anyone else have Cozumel and Catalina?

It seems to me that all the acts are on the Fantasy line ships that means a 3,4 or 5 day cruise is that correct and are the cruise rates the same as before the concert date?

  2. Wonder if this will affect their cheers program?

I do not think it will affect the cheers program it is not like the bar tenders were pouring drinks drown her throat, However when is one too drink to be served that may another question.

  3. Cruise #20, leaving on the Dream Jan 24, and we finally run into bad luck! Wife fell on the ice feeding the birds yesterday and broke the upper arm bone at the ball end, where it goes into the shoulder joint. Thank God it's not displaced, and no surgery needed, but she will be wearing an immobilizer to keep her arm pinned, and she will have to learn how to drink with her left arm. And I was counting on her carrying the luggage!:D

Hopefully Carnival has no issues with folks traveling with a broken bone - does anyone know for sure?

I do not think that will be a problem. I once met a lady on a cruise that slipped in the shower and broke her leg a few days before the cruise she was in a wheel chair all week. One year I was cross county skiing and took a bad fall and since cross country skies do not have bindings I thought I broke my ankles. But I did have cruise insurance and I will not go on a cruise with out it.

  4. That's a scary observation. Restaurant inplies pay. Coulld trhis be what they.re setting us up for in the future? Cut back 96 items, and then at some point, add selections back for a price, or worse.

IMO CCL is just setting the consumer up to go to the paying restaurants than eat in the MDR, where they have less choices, believe me they know what they are doing these new menu's are being done for a reason and it is not to befit the guests.

  5. Can someone tell me if this solo discount is something that Carnival will have all the time or is it just a rare thing. Thanks in advance

You may not remember but back in the nineties CCL did have a single supplement , if you booked a category 3 or less the cabin was 150% over the cruise rate but that stopped in the mid to late nineties I think.

  6. Carnival has a sale right now for single cruisers. You can book a cruise at the double occupancy rate and not have to pay for the phantom person that is not going with you. This is on selected ships and selected sailing. You can read the list here; https://www.goccl.com/ It is on the lower right of the page under featured specials.

Many years(10 plus maybe) you only paid 150%over the cruise rate for a category 3 or less. So hopefully CCL brings that rate for solo cruises back.

  7. Obviously, we gamble, but the most we've ever spent in the casino was 1600.00 on one cruise. We won 800.00 of that. We bring exactly 800.00 every cruise. 400 for me, and 400 for my DH. Once it's gone, it's gone. End of story. However, if we win big, we can do whatever we want, including put it back in the casino. About 4 years ago my DH hit the royal flush and won around 3700. We came home with most of it...maybe 3300? (not sure exactly but that's close)

The other side to that is we cruise at least twice a year and sometimes 3 times a year. I think that has a lot to do with it, as well. I think if someone spends 4000.00 bucks in the casino, but they've cruised twice in 10 years, they may not be as inclined to offer free cruises.

If you're asking do we go in and dump 5000 thousand a trip....No, we don't. I think luck of the draw has something to do with it, too. ;)

That sounds reasonable so have a great cruise!!!!

  8. We've gotten two free cabins from Carnival and used them both.

The first was a 5 day out of Charleston, which was great because we're only 3 hours from the port. The second, which we received last week, had many more options and they weren't all inside or OV.

We are leaving on October 12th on the Breeze for an 8 day Eastern/Southern carib. cruise.

My husband and I both received an offer, so when we called I asked for a list of the cruises we qualified for on this offer. I believe the code was PCS, and they verify your name/VIP# is associated with this offer. We both were verified and we both qualified for a balcony cabin. Since we have 3 kids, we asked if we could book connecting balconies and add a 3 person in one room. She checked and there was connecting balconies available on Deck 9 and we could add a 3 in one room (we had to pay for that passenger, of course). WITH tips added to the cost, 2 connecting balconies on Deck 9 of the Breeze 8 day totaled 1218.00 for five people. (the 3rd passenger, port charges and taxes, plus our tips for five people for 8 days)

The offer is real. No reason not to at least call and see what you got. When we received the one in June, I also thought it was a joke, but it wasn't. That 5 dayer cost us 198.00 total. (port charges and taxes and only my hubby and I went on this one, so that's the cost difference) The highest category we could get on that cruise was an OV, and we jumped on it.

    Good luck and enjoy!! :)

I do not want to get too personal but have much did you have to spend to get the two free cabins the reason I asked this question because in my book there is now such thing as a free lunch.

  9. I know Carnival has the reputation as a party ship but especially during college spring break time they increase the security patrolling the ship and really keep it tame since there are lots of families with small children sailing during this time as well. You may want to rethink your cruise since what you plan on doing may just land you in the brig. Partying as you describe is no longer tolerated on cruise ships. Don't get me wrong you can go and have a good time but I think you and your crowd are looking for something different.

I have been on many CCL ships during spring break during the years between 1992 and 2005 there was heavy partying on the ships ,but after CCL started marketing toward families and added age restrictions the party days were over. Besides the drinks are so expensive now and watered down a SB would go broke if they were a heavy drinker. Good luck!!!!!

  10. As far as solos not spending much, I think quite the opposite is true. Because I'm by myself, I tend to not like to sit in my room and drink, so I go to one of the bars for a pre- or post-dinner cocktail or glass of wine. I play bingo and participate in other onboard activities that may have a fee attached to them. Since I'm a single female, I book excursions thru the ship for safety and as a way to meet other passengers.

This March will be my 31st cruise with CCL all but 2 have been solo. I am very out going and I'll talk to anyone but I am not a pest. I like having my own room so I really do not mind going solo besides how can you be alone with 2500 other people on the ship. I do spend a good amount of $$ on the ship.

  11. I still maintain that the solo cruise is of very little value to a cruiseline. We're a waste of space that could be put to use for two, three, or four cruisers, each of which offers additional selling opportunities.

My conversations with other solo cruisers seem to indicate that as a group we are somewhat more frugal than others, more independent and likely to book our own excursions, and less inclined to party hard (that is, blow money on booze and gambling).

Not sure how scientific that is, but if I were managing a cruiseline, I wouldn't necessarily welcome solos with open arms. I'd tolerate them just to avoid empty cabins, and hoping that they would occasionally invite others on their vacations.

But really how many solo cruisers do you think there are per 7 day cruise?

  12. I do not think you will have trouble boarding the ship. In the United States you can not get a passport if you have a felony, however that law may be true if you have a certain type of felony I do not know. But those laws may be different in Canada, I would call the agency that issues the Canadian passports and explain your problem to see if there are any issues getting a passport and getting back into Canada which may be the concern.

  13. When I'm on a cruise I tried to avoid all fried foods. I will eat fish and chicken but only if it is baked. I am not a desert guy, however I will eat the warm melting cake a couple of times during the week. I have not and will not ever eat the fish'n chips. You know the old saying you are what you eat.
