Wow!!! Is that just on one fare?

$720 off for 2 of us.

I had to give up my $50 obc, but in turn, got a $720 reduction in my rate. Easy decision. I've gotten small reductions before, but never this big.

I know it could depend upon a number of variables, but what is the average time for a cab to go from the port to Red Hook, to catch the ferry to St. John?

How long does it usually take to receive a reply, after you have submitted the online price reduction form?

It worked. Within 10 minutes I received an mail with confirmation of my $50 onboard credit. Now I'm having a nice Monday!

I just saw this as well. My price is the same but I submitted the form asking for the $50 onboard credit. I wasn't sure if they would do that or not, but it sounds like others have, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. $50 isn't much, but its a good start. We don't sail until October, so lots of time for more promotions:D

I have sailed out of Long Beach quite a few times and find them to be very picky. They do not allow any open bottles. In addition, they take and out and check each and every sealed water and soda bottle. In Vancouver this past September, they never even opened the suitcase that I had filled with soda. Everything does need to go through the x-ray machines.

I've cruised out of Long Beach on Carnival at least 7 times and never once have experienced what others have described. I usually arrive between 1 and 1:30, but several times have been there in the morning.

I vote for the Hotel Maya. We booked several rooms there the night before my daughter's wedding on the ship. They have a great Carnival rate and offer free parking while you are on the cruise and a shuttle to the ship. It is close enough to walk over to the pier, which I did the morning we departed, just to get my bearings. The service was great and the rooms were very nice. We paid $5 extra for water view rooms and loved it.

Personally I'd get off at City Centre station rather than Waterfront - it's closer to the hotel and on the same Skytrain line, just a stop earlier. The walk will also be flatter than walking uphill from Waterfront, especially if you walk along Georgia rather than Dunsmuir (the station is underneath Pacific Centre mall which runs between these two streets).

 

City Centre Station doesn't show up on Google directions well, because they have the name recorded as Cty Ctr (!?) - but plug that name in and you'll get detailed directions...

I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency, using Sky Train to travel from YVR to downtown. There will be 2 of us, each with 1 large and 1 carry on bag. Do you feel it would be an ok walk from the Waterfront Station to the Hyatt or should we transfer to one of the other lines and get off at the Burrard Station, which is right across the street from the Hyatt? I'd prefer to not transfer, but really need a local's point of view.
