Pro Tip: Here's the bottom line. There are about a thousand staterooms that can bid on Haven cabins. Those bids are processed the monday/tuesday prior to a weekend departure. There will likely be a few Haven cabins available for upgrade. The probability of winning any bids is very very very very small if not zero (if the Haven is sold out). Don't get all excited and picky. Bid on everything and maybe you may get something. But in 99% of the time, not.

Thank you so much for this level of encouragement!  Truly appreciate it 🙃  (See also why we are likely one and done with this cruise line)

, would it help if we upgrade to a suite from a get off the ship early suite privilege?

ANYONE can get off with early / self disembarkation.  Likely by 7:30am in Barcelona.   We were in BCN in February and were at the airport by 8:45am.   I'd personally be a wreck doing that kind of back to back but hey, you be adventurous! 😉

  3. Preface: we have not sailed NCL before but have booked the Joy. We most recently have been sailing in the Yacht Club on MSC so that's our point of comparison.  I have several upgrade bidding offers from our "normal" balcony... but can someone please explain if any of the Haven categories are preferential?  And why in some descriptions does it list butler and others do not.  Is there a hierarchy within the Haven?  Which of these potential upgrades would give the best bang for the buck - or is it all about size and location of cabin but amenities are the same? Thanks in advance.

  4. Unfortunately I will need to work while onboard the Euribia and will need access to a printer.  (I'll have my laptop).  Is there a business area that I can use with a printer? (Paid access is fine)

If not, what advice can you offer?  I'm looking at small portable printers, but they use thermal paper and are very slow.

Quoting MSC website, which use different wording. If it matters, ship is MSC Grandiosa.

Aurea: "Complimentary Access to the Top Exclusive Solarium"

YC: "Dedicated exclusive Sun Deck with pool, whirlpool, solarium and bar"

Question: Is this the same exclusive deck with pool? If not, does Aurea area has a pool or only chairs for sunbathing? Some reviews show very similar, if not the same, area. Aurea solarium does not have a dedicated pool

Aurea: "Access to thermal area (adults only)"

YC: "Complimentary Access to the Thermal Suite in the MSC Aurea Spa"

Question: Is this the same thermal spa with access to sauna, big jacuzzi, etc.? Any difference between Aurea and YC? As far as I know there is only one thermal area, but MSC use different wording for Aurea and YC.  SAME thermal area in the spa

    Also:

In physical terms, I understand YC is a separate area of the ship including staterooms, and it also include an exclusive restaurant and exclusive lounge. Aurea is mixed with regular staterooms.

Other than that, is there any other exclusive area for YC that is not included in Aurea? YES, The whole YC enclave is exclusive to YC.  Aurea is a "category" of experience; Yacht Club is a private area within the ship

    Thank you!

  6. Book what you are comfortable with would be my recommendation.  Upgrades can be complimentary, or you can pay (potentially) for them with the bidding system.  Keep in mind that your minimum bid will be based on what you paid for your initial category.

you would be stopped on any other cruise line. Balance must be 0 for customer to disembark ,its your responsibility to make sure you account is 0

Oh, silly me.  After "checking" the donate my extra $ to their MSC save the oceans (or whatever fund) I guess it was my responsibility to make sure they did that.

Keep in mind that the ship got into port 3 hours late after a poor soul decided to take her life by throwing herself overboard at 5am.

I guess that while being slightly shell-shocked at the turn of events of the morning I completely forgot to check final folio yet AGAIN, having just reviewed it the night before, while fighting the mobs to get off the ship.  Yup.  I'll remember to do that next time. (All due sarcasm noted 🙂 )

Lunacy its to use so much not needed paper when you can just check your bill on TV in your room or on your phone APP. Princess dose not print it now ether.

Lunacy referred to being stopped from getting off the ship because they owed me a few dollars. Also some of the older ships don’t show your account on the tv.

Thank you Ryan although the YC works bit differently or atleast it worked different in Seascape.

Example I walked in when show was about to start with like 30 people outside waiting to hear if there would be room in the show and I just raised my hand slightly where the blue YC band is visible and man at front said "except you sir, you can go right away" and then I was guided to almost empty YC section that had like 30+ places but even if the theater was otherwise full, they would not let non YC to sit there.

Completely OPPOSITE our experience on the Grandiosa in February.  There were 2 "attendants" in the theater who actively encouraged NON YC guests to sit in the YC aera as they wanted to "stop the class division" (their words).  We protested; THEY won.  We left the theater and complained to YC Director.  They did nothing.  In short the shows were "sold out" (already reserved) and there was "so many empty seats" in the YC area that were going to waste that they basically opened them up.

We are doing this on Seascape this sunday, four of us in a Aurea suite and the two oldest kids (18 and 15) in a Fantastica Inside. The only issue i can see is that they can't join us in the Aurea only area and that there might be some issues at the Aurea diningroom but hopefully that will be OK.

Sorry, but why SHOULD it be ok for your kids to accompany you in the Aurea dining room?

Got it. So if we cant select our day/time for spa services online (which we cant) there's no point in booking those in advance? Sounds like cost is about the same. I don't want to book those if we cant get the massages/spa services on our sea days, which seems to be the case since we cant do anything in advance online other than pay.

If you book IMMEDIATELY upon boarding the ship you should not have any problem getting a slot on a sea day.  The only folks who could have already tried to book would be back to backers.  I'd say your chances are very good in getting the times you want.
