  1. Need some input. We will be on the Breeze in March. We are looking for a nice beach day in St Thomas. Coki beach looks great for swimming and some snorkeling,  but it looks kinda small and our port time is 11:30 - 7:00. Wondering if Coki would be too crowded by the time we will be able to get there. Would want to rent chairs/umbrella.

  2. We will be cruising in March with a stop at San Juan. Trying to decide between a beach day (maybe a day pass at the Marriott) or just wandering around old San Juan. Are the beaches “can’t miss”? Or should we skip that and go to Old San Juan?

  3. Posted this on Amber Cove forum with. I response, thought I might get more answered here....

Found the Catamaran Sail and snorkel on Carnival’s list of excursions for Amber Cove and it got good reviews. But when I logged and and tried to find it for our specific cruise it was not listed. Does anyone know if it’s not done every day or why it may not show up for our specific week?

  4. We did a stingray city excursion and the captain came and picked us up. He knew what time our ship was coming in and they gave us directions on where to go meet him and all that. I don’t know if I can name it on here but it was great! And not very expensive. I think it’s the #1 rated stingray tour on TripAdvisor.

  5. We have had the social media plan on 2 cruises and both times iMessage worked sporadically. May have had to do with how many people were using the internet at any given time, not sure. But sometimes it worked (between family on the boat and family back home), and sometimes it didn’t. FB messenger was more consistent

  6. I was just on the phone confirming our cruise to Cuba next year. I was so very excited. Then I got a call on the other line from my husband. I switched over. He was calling to tell me his Dad had just died. :-(

This is why we cruise - because life is short and we want to enjoy ourselves because you never know when is the last chance when everyone is well and able to do something like this.

I was going to ask for your thoughts on Cuba and the Sensation, but now I must go home to my husband. We will take the time with family now and look forward to happier times in the future.

Great post. Sorry for your loss. We went on a family cruise a few years ago and and we had a great time. Kept talking about doing another one and finally planned the next one for last spring. But 3 months before the cruise my dad had a major stroke and we had to cancel. Unfortunately he hasn’t recovered very well and will probably never be able to travel far from home again. You never know. One of my favorite quotes is by Warren Miller (if you don’t know him, he was legendary in the ski film industry). “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be another year older when you do”

  7. We went there a couple years ago. It’s a nice, beautiful beach with clear water. It’s like a beach club, pay a few dollars to get in, rent chairs/umbrellas. There is food and drink with beach service. We got off the ship pretty early and went straight there, had a couple hours where it wasn’t too crowded. Bathrooms/facilities were ok. About mid-day it started getting pretty crowded. There were a good many locals trying to sell stuff...from hair braiding to drugs. One woman kept on bugging us and I finally got pretty nasty with her and she didn’t come back. Overall, we had a good time and it was a nice beach but I probably wouldn’t go back.

  8. We booked an NCL cruise on the Breakaway for next spring and after booking it I started reading about all the reservations required for shows and we cancelled and changed to the Breeze. Liked the itinerary better also, E Caribbean instead of Western. Also read a lot of negative reviews of NCLs private island in Belize. Was so glad we were able to cancel and change to Carnival.

  9. We were on the first cruise after the dry dock last fall. Complete nightmare. Couldn’t get on the ship til about 11 pm, our shower backed up one night and flooded our room with about 2 inches of water, had to be moved (and split up) to 2 separate rooms on our last day. So basically our first and last days were complete wastes. Otherwise we liked the ship and food and stuff. Probably wouldn’t do another cruise coming right out of dry dock and would probably avoid the older ships. Most of our stuff was just bad luck, my only real complaint was after all we went through, they only gave us like $200 credit.

  10. If you’ve never been to New Orleans and can spend a day or two in town before the cruise that’s what I’d do. We love New Orleans and go with our kids. If you have a chance I’d suggest a swamp / airboat tour. And lots of the operators will pick you up at your hotel. We did one last month when we just went to NO for the weekend and it was really cool. That being said we loved Grand Cayman and we are looking at a couple cruises for next spring break, one being the Miracle with a stop at GC and one out of NO (NCL) with no Cayman stop.

  11. From Belize City you will need to take an excursion to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye if you want a beach day but the beaches are beautiful. Cozumel as you probably know has nice beaches and lots of beach club choices. Costa Maya has some beach clubs but you can go enjoy the beach town of Mahahual on your own. That only leaves Harvest Caye so if you can handle a pool day there you will enjoy this itinerary with plenty of beach time.

    Thanks!

  12. That’s what I was afraid of. I’m seriously thinking about cancelling and booking a different cruise. We love cruising but we also are beach lovers. Our itinerary includes HC, Belize City, Costa maya and Cozumel. I’ve only been to Coz and from what I’m reading the other ports don’t have the best beaches. But my wife really wants to do the Breakaway. Don’t know what to do.
