  1. Its all in a semi-organized panic mode. Elevator buttons light erratic like a Christmas tree lighting with the Griswold's  although nobody pushed them. They stop where they should not, doors do not close.... Crew is tired and finished- all hands in deck, musicians serve WJ food, concierges serve cutlery, . WJ is a mad house. All b2b get a free turn around water tour in Venice as the ship will be broken up and completely rebuild with the latest anti-N virus technology.....but---- after tomorrow' s boarding all back to normal-sigh

Looks like I will have to pack my gloves for the Dec 8 TA.

No no, better pack your walking shoes. Almost every elevator is broken or erratic. Why? Some smart employees desinfected the buttoms with tank sprayers and that is what the electronic certainly does not like.....

Easy for you to say, Johnny.  For some people this is their once a year splurge and it would sure suck to have it spoiled by having a bunch of pinnacles occupying a lounge called the SUITE LOUNGE.

Word to the wise for those of you not aware of this issue - if there are many pinnacles on board forget about window seats or prime seating in the suite lounge during the entirety of happy hour, being seated timely or within your desired time slot in CK and expect spotty service while pinnacles are being tended to.  And if you travel with young children prepare for some snickers and sneers .

Andy, if you don't like Royal Caribbean's appreciation for Pins who have invested 6 digit number $$ in fares to get there, vs the occasional suite guest traveler - why don't you just book a balcony or junior suite and-  puff you have no problems with suite lounge anymore. I am sure your kids like prime window seating in the WJ much better.

  4. Does not sound to be fair and personnel friendly: What about those in the US militaries who serve i.e. in the special forces. They are on a 365 alert scheme. So they never are able to book in advance? Even an insurance is not granted by the administration? That makes holidays a gamble and expensive specially for enlisted men and women…..a very influential person in the US would twitter "not fair"....

  5. Should I be lucky to have served 38 years in another NATO-Armed Forces, my Air Force?

Yes you "belong" to the Armed Forces as an active duty soldier. But my Armed Forces by law, has to reimburse all booking expenses and related expenses when calling me unexpected. Happened only once with me, but all booking fees etc were 100% reimbursed. No insurance needed!

Check your administration for a similar program in your US military environment -can't be so different?!

  6. Taggert was just filling in on the Serenade, believe he leaves on 7/29. Unfortunately, understand that Patrick Olin will be back on the ship - darn!!

    Carla

Thanx for the information-we are very flexible. With lazy and C&A hostile Olin on Serenade- just stopped my booking process for Serenade in time. Have to wait for Robert.....

  7. A "befriended" officer from the financial dept onboard recently confirmed that 2 $ pp/day is kept by RCCL for "handling" purposes. Please do your own math basing your calculations on an average utilized capacity for ..how many ships?..

You may claim it is based on rumour but as long as RCCL lacks 100% transparency…..

  8. Not true with highest Pins first.

We were on the 2 day April inaugural and they invited low Pins with just 700 points and high Pins with no obvious systematics. A lot of high Pins with 1000+ were indeed pi$$..

Also at first they only invited Brits. After massive complaints they later hesitantly invited other European continental Pins as well

The ship was not sailing at full capacity many staterooms , mostly insides and ocean view left empty. They mostly invited international bloggers ( a lot from the yuppie bloggers later criticized RCCL for commissioning an environmental harmful ship; as could be read in the press/www here) and European TAs.

Another sample for Marketing at its best.....

  9. Hi,

Agree, Peter is fantastic. One of the HD's that is totally "accessible" - he doesn't hide. His officers and even Chef Leslie & Chef Alberto walk around and talk to guests. Great attitude.

Is Patric Olin on Serenade? Why is he the worst? Might be going on Serenade... Thanks

    NJ

Yes Olin was on Serenade . He has a known attitude against D+ and Pinnacles. We almost had a mutinity when he did not recognize even the minimum C&A benefits. Also he is known with his subordinate staff to only control them per office monitors.

Management by lazyness. Anyway we do not book Serenade when he is onboard. His replacement was Robert Taggart- what a difference in attitude. Even the crew enlightened during Roberts replacement tour. I bet they are back in agony with this HD Olin.

  10. Actually there were 2 individuals. They were a couple and spent some 6 months at a time on the Adventure OTS when we sailed out of San Juan many years ago. They were the most elegant and spiffily dressed individuals on the ship. Each night, one of the gentleman had a different and interesting man bag to go along with his haberdashery. One, I believe one was from Denmark, supposedly, of Danish Royalty and the other was from Majorca Spain.

Can't remember their names, but they are well known in RCL circle.

Yes well known. They are now rightly permanently banned from RCCL due to repeated mistreatment and insulting of staff.

  11. Ha ha Ha ha

The thing is, in today's crazy world, you could probably get away with that.

If you claimed that the drone was a medical necessity, because of your emotional attachment to it.

That, they are imposing there draconian measures on your sanity, and your mental state would be damaged, and impaired by not being able to cruise, with your emotional partner (who just happens to be a drone).

Then to those people that say " if you can't cruise without your drone, don't cruise" just pull out the fact that just because you cannot be emotionally parted from your drone, does not give them the right to dictate that you as a citizen, with extra needs, should have your rights to Cruise withdrawn, and you are treated as 'different' just because you have some extra needs, that in today's modern age, can easily be accommodated, with a little extra thought, and a little more care !

Drones are an often overlooked, and easily dismissed tool, that can be a powerful remedy, to many people's mental ailments.

A solution that can prevent the need for many pharmaceuticals.

If you ask me, I believe that the drug companies are probably behind this. You would be surprised if you really knew how far their arms stretch around every aspect of our lifes.

    Power to the drone !

  12. My deepest respect for real service dogs on the 7 seas.

Other than that I think of opening a new business, while at sea, maybe for a "boring" relocation or transatlantic or solo cruisers: "rent-a-comfort-dog". If my prices are too high why not "share-a-comfort-dog". "We will outfit any dog looking like a comfort dog with proper suit labeling".
