salmonoftheseas, even if they don´t move they are required to do the muster drill on embarkation day (since the Costa Concordia -prior to that muster drill within the first 24 hours was o.k.).

    wrong statement mrs steamboats,

the SOLAS international mandated regulation for the musterdrill is to conduct the drill within 24 hours after departure. (just check google for better understanding). The circumstances should have allowed to apply this regulation, although RCCL always conducts the md bevore commencing the voyage. Since the weather phenomena in Venice is well known they could have done it thismorning (way before set sail) . MSC btw does it within 24 hrs after departure but due to different embarkation philosophies. Anyway, the law says within max 24 hrs AFTER set sail.

  2. Finally, someone who can shed the light.. Its 9:30 am here, i wonder where you guys are right now..

Im about to check out of our hotel and head straight to the terminal..

Do not check-out now. It is 09:57am, still dead in the water out of Venice. Captain said when the port authorities lift the denial to enter V. it takes some1,5hrs until docking. After that- well you know how long the disembarkation process takes. Stay in the hotel lobby. The fog is still as thick as as as

  3. I know several people who had oval badges and how they got them. They weren't issued by the company and were given on a ship more for fun than to show any status. Agree that they were abused and those who had them were asked not to wear them.

We unfortunately know one them, a Scottish (miserable grumpy) Pinnacle who was actually given the oval badge with compliments from the ship management. The oval crew badge shows the imprint *troublemaker*.

He did not get the sense as he never changed his attitude.....

  4. Thanks for opening this thread.

I checked my Delta (directly booked ) flights and my 3rd Dec flight DL322 was indeed cancelled. I never received any notification about that. A real melt down of information and blow to customer satisfaction. I am currently on a cruise ship in the Med and we had a wait time to reach Delta reservations of >1hour. With ship's satellite connection it was not possible to establish a connection.

We finally contacted family at home and they managed to have us rebooked. If this thread was not here.........I had my surprises in San Juan.......

Thanks here and what a shame with Delta

  5. A Delta passenger was bitten by an PTSD emotional support dog about 2 weeks ago. Every owner should be required to carry insurance for the damage by an emotional support animal. At the very least, current pet immunizations records should be provided before travelling with the animal.

I think I had been on the flight you refered to:

Delta DL24 from ATL to DUS, May 30. Two rows in front of us, a lady sit with her poodle, declared as a service dog.

She asked another passenger across the aisle(in the middle three bulkhead seat section) to help her with aseat adjustment. The pax reached overto her seat and was bitten in his hand by her dog.

    · After this event, all passengers in the vicinity were on high alert. We observed the dog andnoticed that it did not exhibit typical service dog behavior. For example, it jumped up in joy and jumpedup on the mother of the passenger who sit at a different spot in business class and visited herdaughter in economy class occasionally. Also, it reactedto all stimuli around it which service dogs are trained not to do. It should have worn a nuzzleto protect other passengers.

As a very frequent cruiser with RCCL, we had some occasions were we encountered service-or comfort dogs:

    Just three examples:

    1. An ex-soldier and AFG veteran with brain injuries was accompanied by a true service dog (I remember him saying that the Army even paid for the dog's training) for truly "guiding" the soldier as he could not walk a straight line anymore.

    2. During a TA we spoke daily on the promenade deck with an American couple with a boxer declared as service dog. Towards the end of the cruise they admitted to us they relocate from the USA to Spain and it was just cheaper for them to declare their "living moving good" a service animal to get free transportation.

    3. Another TA, a single travelling lady was accompanied by her "service dog". It was the talk on the ship why she needs a service dog as she drunk and danced all evening/night long at R-bar. Her "service dog" locked in her cabin. But the dog was cute and everybody was allowed to pet and play with it during the day.....

  6. Another Pinnacle friend was on a B2B.

She was told by the LA that she had to wait until the 2nd leg, after the Pinnacle cruise.

She pushed the issue, the LA emailed Miami, and then the LA had to profusely apologise.

She was recognised, and got an extra free bottle of wine.

    Aussie Frequent Floaters

With respect to the Serenade, the LA and hotel director claimed to had the issue elevated to Miami, but Miami responded to them that no, benefits only at next cruise. Of course this can also be a "protective statement" by these crew members......

Fact is- there is nothing written about the Pin benefits during the cruise they receive the status.....

  7. Back from Serenade 16night TA. Had the water bottles removed at day 1 of the cruise; all fine including last day when I received the correct bill at disembarkation morning.

At home I checked my AMEX and bingo - water bottles charged that had never been in my cabin!

Inquired at RCCL's guest relation email and my AMEX organisation and received the full "water bottle" refund after a quick 4 days!

  8. We just returned from Serenade and 5 members became Pinnacle during the cruise. They received gold cards with no Pinnacle benefits. A couple even had to buy their 300something $ internet package (one device free for ea Pinnacle) and the cheap hotel director and Loyalty ambassador insisted on no Pinnacle benefits until next cruise. Two inquiries were negative. But I am sure this hotel director is an exception as he is known in the community to dislike Pinnacles.

So if you become Pinnacle soon, plan on NOT sailing the Serenade when O-lin is hotel director.

@ Bob -and yes there are two Pinnacle only Facebook site where you have to register with your Pinnacle proof.

  9. in my experience it has depended on the ship, they are not consistent.

Here on Serenade - no lunch lunch/lunch section for suites and Pins anymore, neither in Chops nor Giovannies.

Only "lunch section" is in WJ, where you can pick up your food at the buffet and than may use an annex for gold pass bearers. But as there is no control this annex is 99% used by anybody on board.

  10. We will be turning Pinnacle in the near future and would like to know everyones opinion about which ship would be a good one to book for this momentus occasion. We will be on Rhapsody right before and are thinking of just booking b2b and becoming Pinnacle on Rhapsody. Any ideas?

.....and do not forget to ask any Pinnacle for advise "how to not hijack a thread"....
