  1. As many of us are returning to cruising, what would you bring to make dealing with Covid and the potential for Covid easier.   I am asking what would you bring to, hopefully,  help prevent catch it, what you are bringing if you do,  and what would you bring in case you or someone with you were with suddenly got sent to quarantine.  Not looking for a political or medical discussion, just what would you travel with that you didn't bring before.  I,  for one, will be bringing my computer (which I have never done) to have a little bigger screen to see, entertainment, and looking for hotels, flights, or info in case we might get stuck someplace (on or off the ship).

We did the test at the Mayflower quay at the end of March - there were approx 15 testing stations and we were the only people there! It was only about 10 days after Princess announced that they would accept proctored tests so I guess most people opted for that thinking that there would be long queues at the Southampton centre. We were still in the queue to get into the terminal building when the text with the results came through (approx 15 mins).

Unfortunately my husband tested positive (having been negative before we left home the day before) so if we’d done the proctored test at home we’d have been ok to board and probably ended up quarantined on the ship…

    Thank you !

What number did you call to get the person removed? Do you have a direct phone number for that department?

We called the main number from the web page.  Sat on hold forever, but one of our cruises had a huge price drop so it worked out by getting rid of the slug AND $1,300 off (each).

  4. We were in a full aft suite on the Tahitian Princess (sister to Pacific Princess)many years ago.  It was our first cruise and we didn't have anything to compare it to or knew how lucky we were.  Again, I don't remember the cabin, but it was a full aft suite and it still is the best suire we ever booked.  ! 1/2 bathrooms !  Wrap around balcony !!!!!  Separate living room.  Huge !  The best.    We always think fondly of that cabin !  Happy sailing !

  5. It has been so long I cannot remember if suite breakfast in the specialty restaurants is everyday or just on sea days.  For some reason we remember it only on sea days due to early tours on port days.  Anyone that is not having a senior moment and that has stayed in a full suite know?

This is so confusing. I live in the UK and have a cruise booked out of Fort Lauderdale to the Panama canal 19th December. I will have my 15year old grandaughter with me. In the UK we are only vaccinating over 18's. I phoned Princess , they tell me she will need a negative PCR test within 72 hours of boarding. That is of course Mr Biden lets us enter the US by then.

So, they are going to let your group on even though the 15 year old cannot be vaccinated?  Does that mean all children only need  negative PCR test to board? We are in a similar situation on a cruise out of South America Dec 19th.

another option-Princess cruises offered a transfer from SCL to the ship in San Antonio at 9:30 am the day of the cruise. We stayed in Santiago in a hotel for 3 days prior and took a taxi back to the airport for the transfer.

We might be doing the same thing.  Do you recall how far or the cost to go back to the airport to get the shuttle?  Princess wants $1,000 for Sheraton Convention Center for one night for 2 adults and a 3 year old granddaughter!  Web site  wants $169 for the same night and includes breakfast.

The fire doors look like little black sideways arrows. Often the cabin numbering will change there too but not always. And yes just ask your steward to connect your balconies, we do this all the time. I would ask as soon as you get to your cabin because it can take awhile for them to do it (they are busy with luggage and everything else during embarkation).

I looked carefully at the deck plans for the Coral Princess from their web site.  I went to the tab that said "On Board Our Ships", then to "Coral Princess" and then to "Deck Plans".  I was not able to find anything like you described or anything that indicated fire doors (at least I think I looked carefully).   Is there another place to see the deck plans?

  9. We are booking on the Coral Princess to Antarctica.  We have adjoining cabins with my daughter and her family.  Has anyone been able to have the exterior  door between the connecting balconies locked open for their cruise to make one large balcony?  Has anyone asked to have it locked open and been refused.  Does the cabin steward have the key, if not who did you ask?   Thanks in advance !
