Yes, and while you are at it, you may want to forgo plates and carry the chafing dishes back to your table at the buffet because that is where and when you want it.

Nothing in the rules or policy prohibits that either.....

If we allow the  gracious, elegant atmosphere on Oceania degenerate into a free for all, WE will be the losers, not the Cruise Line.

What fantasy cruise line are you on?  Unless you own it, you don't make the rules.  You can't make up your own rules as if you are the King of England on his Majesty's Royal Yacht.  Gracious and elegant is one thing; arrogant, precocious,  and constantly condescending is another.   If you 6-7 people keep this up, WE will all lose because no one will sail Oceania because of a few judgemental people.  "Newbies" as you like calling them, think you are what make up the majority of Oceania cruise guests.

See my posts #27 and #48.

If nothing else, YOU carrying an OPEN glass container (even with a cork stuck back in it) to or through a public space on a ship (often moving) is a safety hazard subjecting Oceania to liability.

How about just following the T&Cs you agree to by purchasing the cruise?

A safety hazard ?  What is wrong with some of you?

Maybe I'm reading the thread wrong.

If I open a bottle of wine I take to the cruise in my cabin and then decide to take the bottle to a restaurant and willing to pay the corkage fee I'm not allowed?

    Doesn't make any sense.

It is your vacation, your wine, your money, your corkage fee, and there is NOTHING in Oceania policy or rules that say you can’t take it to the dining room.  Enjoy it where and when you want.

Just like we can put some  serial complainers on ignore  :classic_biggrin:

Like those that ask questions  & when they do not get the response they want  call "serial" posters  names 😉

when  I have had  a glass of wine in the bar before dinner & have not finished it the  waiter  will carry it to the dining room & hand it off to the waiter that escorts  you to the table

I have not tried to go to the Terrace  with  a part glass of wine so not sure if they would deliver it  there or not from the  Grand Bar

Seriously!  Just live on the edge and carry it.

You can still enjoy the forum by just putting an ignore function on those 6 or 7 “smart serial posters” (I assume I am included in that number :classic_biggrin:)

That way none of their posts will be visible to you.

Why on earth would you think that?

  7.  What is sad is that so few people post anything here because of those 6 or 7.   I wish they could see it.  Maybe we should have two forums;  those that have questions and the helpful people  and another for those that want to show how smart they are.

    cheers

I'm not sure who pays the corkage fee.  We just got off Oceania, brought onboard 4 bottles of wine, 1 champagne, and 1 rum.  We always poured a glass for dinner and brought it to the dining rooms.  No one said anything.  I suppose if you brought a whole bottle?

Dave,  I got your message, but was unable to respond.  The Oceania Board is like driving by a car wreck;  you just have to look but know nothing good will come out of it.  It is so polluted with the same 6-9 people, it is just for entertainment.

Just to point out Oceania  will allow  you to bring on  more wine or spirits  than  they have in writing..sort of an unwritten rule

    It covers them legally

They just ask  that you either drink it in your cabin or take the  bottle of wine to the dining venue & pay the corkage

If  they did not allow it they would confiscate it  like  other lines do

You can check out their policies  under FAQ's on their web page

    enjoy

Seems pretty clear to me, but everyone justifies it because they do it.  The point is...it is really none of my business what other people do and it isn't really yours either.

We are pleased to inform you that Oceania Cruises has revised the policy for bringing wine onboard.

We have now increased the limit to 6 bottles per stateroom. The exception being the world cruises for which we will allow up to 60 bottles per stateroom however this only applies to guests who are booked on the full world cruise or any of the variations of the full world cruise as listed below.

This includes guests flying with their own wine, or purchasing it on shore, any additional purchases above and beyond the three bottles made during the cruise at any of the ports may be held for you until the end of the cruise.

  10. The hypocracy of of some of the “serial posters”  here is amazing.  Name calling is against CC rules and has no place here.  You tell EVERYONE that Oceania dosn’t care how much wine you bring on board, you brought more than 3 bottles when that was the rule, now bring more than 6, with the new rule... but name call others for less?    Did you forget about that rule when judging others?  What other rules do you break in your lives?  You condemn them for walking with a glass of wine... but you bring cases?  What about “shipping” it to the ship?  Really... ship it? You talk about others “ruining” it.    Ding ding ding!  You wine the prize there.   At least the people walking with their glass of wine didn’t include ship staff in their “lawlessness”.  I leave the rules to be enforced by the business making them... anyone else is just a “Mrs. Cravits”.

  11. We have been on dozens of cruises.  We like HAL, Windstar, Oceania, and Princess.  If this becomes policy, we will not be sailing on HAL again.  It is simply the principal.  What I do, wear, eat, etc...is none of your business (as long as it conforms to ship policy) and what you do is none of mine.   Cruising should be care free and fun, don't nickel and dime me.

Attached is a text file that includes information on benefits available on most major cruise lines to people with some connection to military services of various types (current active duty, former military but not retired, retired). Note that very few (3 or 4 as I remember) offer benefits to retired or former military for Onboard Credit while a few offer lower rates on cruises to active duty personnel.

Military benefits on various cruise lines.txt

Very well done, thank you !

  13. What a great program and wonderful info above.  I never served in a Combat Zone, so I am not eligible (bless those that did) based on this from the web site ;

Proper identification in the form of a DD 214, plus a current photo ID is required. For Canadians, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Health Identification Card is used.

  14. On the Oceania cruise board someone asked if that line offered discounts for military Vets.  They said Oceania did not, but that Princess does.  We have sailed on Princess many times and have never heard this.  Has anyone heard of this, used the discount, or know how much it is?  I would love it if they did.  Thanks in advance for any insight.

Are you referring to the balcony connected to family suite;  if so there is no divider.  The cabin if forward on the ship and there is no connector.  The balcony if metal and goes the full length of the suite. You really do not have any cabins to the left or right.  We we were on deck 9 cabin D105

I am asking about the door getting outside..to the balcony.  My fear is that she is able to open the slider out to the balcony at night and us not hear her.  Are we Paranoid... a little.

Hello,  what is your question about family suite?  We had one for our Alaska Cruise

We will be in the FS with our 20 month old granddaughter.  We are terrified of the balcony slider.  Do you remember how it locks?  Is there ANY way for her to get it open once it is locked?  If there is any way for her to get it open, can you recommend anything I could make or bring to secure it and we could sleep.  We have cruised many many times, but never with a baby.

Hello, my wife and I have a family suite booked on Emerald for Alaska sailing next July. Our travel agent said you have two cabins put together; meaning D105, is a Junior Suite; and D-101/103 are inside cabins. What joins them together is a common living room. Both rooms have private entrances; the inside cabin has two twin beds and bathroom. No windows. The junior suite is two beds or one king bed; they look out over the sliding glass doors. Bathroom has shower and tub; and the living room is between both rooms. Balcony is a combo/ metal railing and glass railing. I believe our suite is almost right behind the bridge; so you will be pretty forward on the ship; however you will be able to sit on balcony because the balcony faces sideways and not fulling facing the front of ship. The family suite is sold based on booking both cabins together. Hope this helps.

ps. we have never sailed Princess so don't know anything about the line. Princesss had the most affordable family suite. We compared Royal, NCL, Holland, and Disney. Best price was Princess

Quick question;  we are booking the FS and out 20 month old granddaughter will be with us.  We are terrified of the balcony with her.  Is there a way to secure the door so we can sleep and not keep one eye on her?  If not, is there something I could bring or make to bring with me to keep it secured?  Thanks in advance !
