  1. If I could I would add to your list of bullet points. One being the smoking going on in the aft region of the promenade deck, all so the crew 'has a place to smoke'. Meanwhile that smoke drifts up, up, up and disrupts people's experiences they've been waiting for and are paying (a lot) for on their balcony. Not to mention it makes it impossible for those who would like to walk completely around the promenade deck.
  2. This is what boggles my mind! Let's face it. Their highest paying customers are mostly on the aft of these ships...full suites. They really don't care at all that the people that occupy and pay a lot of money for those staterooms (not to mention the premium balconies that cost more than a regular balcony stateroom) are eventually gonna get ticked off and leave?? Huh?? Isn't this a time when businesses that are already in deep financial doo-doo would want to retain their loyal customers? 🤔
  3. What deck were you on? Also, do you remember if the aft portion of the promenade was blocked off or do you think people were just smoking on the promenade starboard side?
  4. Tiki_Koro, Wondered if you would be able to tell me if the aft promenade is blocked off as an area for crew to smoke? Thank you!
  5. Good points. How does one re-title after thread has been started? Or do I need to start new thread?
  6. You make all good points. It would be really nice to know now whether this is being allowed currently...as in is it being allowed today?? Don't know about you, but we have final payment coming up soon and I'd really like to be able to make an informed decision on this. Don't get me wrong, the information provided has been helpful. Honestly the more I read about Princess and what they're allowing--a lot of it to the detriment of the customer experience, the more I lean towards another cruise line.
  7. In your two experiences, when did you smell the cigarette smoke? Was it just when the ship was at port or was it also when the ship was sailing? TIA!
  8. Thanks for your input. Aft facing is our favorite location too and normally wouldn't think twice about booking in this location. I'm amazed that Princess, despite the numerous complaints they've had, haven't found another location for smokers to go.
  9. Thanks to both of you for your thoughts on this. I have been very diligent on keeping an eye out so that we can move up to next deck if nothing else to help with the potential noise problem. Of course now I'm concerned about the cigarette smell that seems to lately plague anyone on any deck aft-facing. If it's not one thing, it's another!
  10. Which ship are you looking at? Overall, the full suite is going to be substantially larger than a regular balcony stateroom. As far as having a better layout...this may be a matter of opinion but I would usually book a full suite over a balcony stateroom unless it was on the Royal Class of ships then it has everything to do with type of suite and location. Usually the layout is great and the perks are pretty nice.
  11. I am looking for solid advice from those that have either sailed on the Emerald Princess (fairly) recently in an aft balcony or have sailed on the Emerald Princess in E732. (I am open to advice from anyone who has been on any of the sister ships to Emerald [Ruby, Crown, Caribbean] with regards to the below concerns.) In regards to the aft balcony concern: Some of the things that I am hearing are issues with those (crew or passengers, it doesn't matter) that smoke on the promenade deck; that smoke being a problem for anyone in the aft portion of the ship who would like to enjoy their balcony. Is this still an issue? ln regards to stateroom E732 on Emerald Princess: Has anyone here had this stateroom? What did you think of the location? Would you book it again? Did you experience any noise/vibration from Club Fusion when trying to sleep or during the day? Did anyone experience any issues with not being able to enjoy this balcony due to cigarette smoke from the below promenade deck? Thanks so much!
  12. Go for it! Aft facing is awesome and think of the privacy you'll have rather than thinking of it as being in a 'hole'. Looks like a refuge to me!🙂
  13. Did you ask to get tested for COVID19 on the 28th or was Princess testing all passengers?
  14. Wow...we are on Emerald where I would imagine the smoke being worse than Baja.
  15. Noooo! Our stateroom is direct-facing-aft! I'd forgotten about the smoking thing...
  16. Tiki_Koro, Thanks for putting in the time to document such detail about your trip. Love the pictures! We plan (fingers crossed) on being on the Emerald in November. I am curious about a couple things if you have the time to answer: --What kind of condition is the Emerald Princess in? Is the exterior well maintained, interior updated, etc? --How many passengers are onboard and how many crew are onboard? What is the service like? Thanks for your time!
  17. We were on the Sky for her last voyage prior to the shutdown. It was a Caribbean cruise. We had an aft facing balcony. She's a BEAUTIFUL ship!!! My only reservation would be that you really research which floor you're on. Some of the aft facing balconies are tiny, narrow--even if you have a full suite--those floors also do not have overhead coverage. Have a wonderful cruise!!
