I'm still confused lol. All I know is I love Carnival and NCL and book which one has better value to me overall. I just don't get the blanket statements, like the one that you will pay for the free at sea with an inflated base fare. I went back to my notes way back when I was researching for my May Alaska cruise. As you can see the base fare prices are quite comparable. NCL Encore $779 pp Spirit $629 pp Luminosa $754 pp Once I added in the free at sea it became a no brainer which was the better value. I wouldn't blanket statement say it will be be NCL for the win every time just as I wouldn't blanket statement say it won't be🤷

I guess if you took it literally but I find it hard to believe with the tipping culture being out of control anyone really thinks they will get something without paying a gratuity. I guess there are people who don't believe if it's too good to be true it probably is but I wouldn't make a blanket statement and group anyone thinking free at sea is a great deal as gullible.

I'm confused. Why would anyone think they were getting drinks for free?

Stashing shots won't be difficult on NCL since you can get 2 drinks at once and no pesky cut off after 15 drinks. Hard to dispute the value of that😁

I agree, the certificates and the Veterans discount are great deals that Carnival doesn't offer. Also there have been times when even using a casino deal didn't save me much over NCL, I'm talking about maybe a $50- $100 savings and I would have had to sail on an older and smaller ship. The drink package on NCL really works out for us compared to Carnivals. We are not big drinkers, just want something basic no extras needed so paying over a $1000 for Carnivals is of no value to us. Free at Sea has been a great deal for me also, I really like things bundled and so far haven't noticed any astronomical price differences over Carnival for it not to be a great deal.

The small print says all the above perks you mentioned except an excursion.

That was a pretty quick debarkation, one of these days I'm bound to experience that lol. Your review set my mind at ease about smaller ship sailing and I really liked the unique decor. Also the the first time in a while the food in the MDR looked good, or you just know how to take a better pic than many😁 Safe travels home, today is one of those rare days in Texas when the weather is beautiful. Catch you on the next cruise.
