  1. The weather is a factor with shoes. My shoes choices are just for on the ship, Sketchers. They are very comfortable right out of the box. My off-ship shoes are Merrel low quarter hiking shoes. They are good for all weather and terrain. With any shoe if you are getting them for a cruise, get them a few weeks before you go. Wear them around your house when out and about. You want to get them broken in. It is good to carry some band aids with you when off ship, in case a blister develops.
  2. I have been camping since I was 15 months old. We called camping back there, as most of the places we stayed at, no power, water or sewer. Today, it is Boondocking. When I retired, I gave my self a retirement present of a cruise to the Med. I was hooked on cruising. So, I was going to cruise one year and the next cruise with the RV. Well, it did not work out that way. So now I do both. I have completed many upgrades, over the years and have no plans on buying a newer model. So, I will be rolling this one until the tires fly off. Believe it or not, my rig is 17 years old this year. I will be rolling on a 2-month journey after I get back from my cruise.
  3. I have been through the Canal twice now. Have been to all those cities. Have been on jungle cruises, have seen mosquitos swarming. Have never been bitten by mosquitos. I do use a good bug spray. I do carry it with me, on excursions, for reapplication. The only time I have been bitten, was on an Alaska cruise and I was on the ship. We were slow cruising by the Dawes Glacier. A lot of seals still on the ice flows, I think they were coming from them. Never have been vaccinated.
  4. From Princess web site. New pricing to go into effect for February 20, 2023 voyages and onward. But it does not mention how much. From other things I have seen, looks like the cost is going up $10 for each restaurant.
  5. This is from the CP'S web site. Shuttle Service to Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center San Pedro only for $5.50 per person each way. I don't use the shuttle, when I stay at the Crown. But I have seen the line waiting for the shuttle, go from the front door and back to the gift shop.
  6. First time to the Panama Canal, you have to experience the old locks. As for rocking and rolling on the ship, you never know what the sea may bring. I have crossed the Atlantic in the winter, it was a very smooth ride. Other places not so smooth. You would think that the sea would not move those big ships around, but it does. Sitting next to a glacier in Alaska, the ship was still, a big part of the glacier broke off. When the wave reached the ship, you could feel it move. As for the motion sickness, check with a doctor to see what may would for you. Something that works for one, may not work for you.
  7. I was on the Emerald, coming back from South America. The ship was delayed for disembarkation, for Customs Inspection, when we arrived in Los Angeles. Better to be stuck waiting to board, than getting off the ship. I was not flying home until the next day, but there were some people that were going to miss their flights. The Emerald had been out of the country, for a while, cruising South America
  8. There is one way to assure a problem-free experience with walkie talkies on a cruise ship. It involves “orienting” them correctly once onboard. 1. Make sure the walkie talkies are fully powered. 2. Locate opposite outdoor locations with a clear view of both the horizon and each other’s walkie talkie. The most ideal spots are along opposite railings on higher decks. 3. Turn the walkie talkies on. Then hold them at arm’s length over the water beyond the rail so that there are no metal or other obstructions immediately adjacent to the walkie talkies (including over and under them). 4. Press the transmit button three times quickly while still holding the walkie talkies over the water. It is important that both walkie talkies’ button push happens at the same time. 5. Immediately following the third button push, drop the walkie talkies into the water. 6. You (and everyone around you) will now have a problem-free walkie talkie cruise ship experience.
  9. Easiest way is just to watch it on the television in the cabin. Just turn on the TV, or it might already be on. Pick the muster video and let it run. If you have never been on a cruise, you might want to watch it. It will run and you can unpack. You will want to determine where your Muster Station is, as you will have to go there and check in. No life jacket needed. You will need the medallion.

  11. The museum has a web site. Check it out. They may be closed for tours. I was scheduled for this tour, just last April and it was cancelled, as the museum closed down the tours.
  12. On the ships I have been on, all except one, I use the US plug at the desk. Cord reaches fine from the nightstand. I made a little stand that goes behind the lamp. Tha CPAP sits on that, nice and level. Day time Mask and Tube on in the nightstand drawer. The machine stays on the stand. I cover it with Disposalable Shower Caps, to keep the dust off.
  13. I never heard on the passenger count. Walking around in the evening, it seemed that they could have possibly have been.
  14. I was just on the Ruby in April on a B2B. The first week they were both open, the second week they rotated on nights open, due to staffing.
