While this is true, if she is still testing positive tomorrow, they can get a full refund (if they want).

Just want to make sure you are aware you can get 24 free home test kits for free at COVID Home Tests | USPS (three orders of 8 kits).

Msc will accept that? I didn't know that. This would save us from scrambling to find a test in naples in October! Although hopefully by then it won't be required. Our cruise is only 7 days.

I cannot find this actual info on MSC USA site. Just spent a few minutes to confirm this info.  I cannot see requirement for Bahamas on MSC Site. I cannot confirm the vaccination requirements either. Strange.

Just found this on Cruise Critic . They have posted current policies by cruise line.

    For MSC

Who Needs to Be Vaccinated: All passengers aged 12 and above must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccination requirement is also applicable to guests who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days. There is no requirement for a vaccine booster shot.

Bahamas Sailings: The Bahamas is now requiring proof of vaccinationfor all travellers under the age of 12. Any cruiser embarking from Atlantic or Gulf ports (including Florida) with a port of call in the Bahamas mustpresent full proof of vaccination in order to board.

Are Any Unvaccinated Passengers Able to Sail? Yes, though passengers who are unvaccinated, or who are unwilling to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination -- will face additional health and safety restrictions, including additional testing (at cost to the cruiser), and the requirement to purchase MSC Cruises Travel Insurance & COVID-19 Protection Services. Fees will be waived for unvaccinated children under 5 who are currently ineligible to be vaccinated.

Mandatory COVID-19 Insurance?: Yes, for non-vaccinated passengers sailing on departures out of Florida only.

Is A Pre-Arrival COVID-19 Test Required? For short cruises under 5 nights, vaccinated passengers do not have to take a test., but all unvaccinated guests ages 2 or older must take one within 3 days of the sailing. All passengers, including those who are vaccinated, must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of embarkation if the cruise is 6 nights or longer. Pre-embarkation or embarkation testing is not required for guests under two years of age.

Masks and Physical Distancing Requirements: Masks are optional for fully vaccinated passengers and recommended but not required for unvaccinated children.

    Crew Vaccinated?: Yes

Where can you find this on cruise critic? I'm leaving from naples on October 15. I wasn't aware I had to not only find a test site in naples, but also get a printout?? Ugh

  3. So there is no difference to the spa based on the ship? I thought maybe it was that inexpensive because it didn't offer as much as the newer ships. Msc customer service is no help.

  4. We are starting our vacation with a cruise starting in Naples. If we arrive a day before embarking, how easy is it to grab toiletries there? After the cruise we plan to be traveling more, so trying to fly with just a carryon.

  5. Wondering if this is worth the money? $70 per person for a 7 night cruise. I've never sailed MSC, but I do know Opera is an older ship. I honestly didn't know there was an aurea spa until I saw this.

    • Aurea SPA Thermal Area access for the duration of the cruise
  6. Very confusing. The CDC tells us nothing of what the rules are in many other countries, though. As far as whether or not countries in Europe/Mediterranean will even be allowing passengers off cruise ship in ports.....

So, even after Jan. 15, this information is unknown? Or is there similar guidelines from WHO?

You can call MSC and pay for your Gratuities before you sail. Leaving on Oct 2nd and that's what I did. Staying in the YC and paid $14 a day. $196 for the 2 of us for 7 day sailing. I also will take care of my Butler and Concierge (depending on how much we utilize them) as well as both of the YC Restaurant Maitre d's.

So, although not listed on website as able to pay prior to cruise, all one has to do is call? The more I pay before a cruise, the more relaxing and enjoyable it it for me 🙂

  8. also just ordered 4 bottles of wine for our room on the MSC site. I know it may not be top notch wine but it’s fine for the week.

I wasnt aware that was possible! Can you preorder anything else for the cabin prior?

  9. As next October will be my first time sailing with MSC, I have been watching youtube, reading any reviews online I can, etc. It seems to be a mixed bag, some love it, some hate it. Unless food it outright inedible, I think we'll be happy.

My first cruise was on Regent, and I read such glowing reviews everywhere that I expected it to be wonderful. And my experience? I was appalled at what I paid that much $$ for! Granted, I was on their oldest, smallest ship, which was the problem. That is not something that should even still be sailing, let alone at such ridiculous prices. lol, a lot of $ for a dingy 🙂

So, everyone is going to have their own opinions
